  • Patent number: 6700260
Abstract: A rotor structure of a motor is provided. The rotor structure includes a magnet having a first annular wall, a magnet holder having a base and a second annular wall connected with the first annular wall of the magnet for fixing the magnet, a shaft having one end mounted through the base of the magnet holder, and a stopper mounted in the other end of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6695498
Abstract: An impact printer having one or multiple lines of hammers on a hammerbank for impacting a print ribbon against a print media after release by one or more electrically energized coils in a magnetic circuit with one or more pole pieces retaining the hammers prior to impact. One or more of the coils has a spaced winding thereby allowing filling of the spaced winding during return winding. Another embodiment utilizes a longitudinal return from an initial winding which can be formed with multiple layers or multiple overlappings of the longitudinal return. The foregoing minimizes a first dimension while having controlled wire crossing resulting in expansion in a second dimension, thereby allowing compaction of magnetic circuits in the first dimension.

  • Patent number: 6687215
Abstract: Various configurations of cartridges for optical disks, particularly first-surface optical disks, are provided. The cartridges include a plurality of protectors for use in safeguarding the optical disk when certain conditions are present or certain events occur. The protectors include an elongated shutter that covers the hub assembly, at least annular slot portions inside of the cartridge to restrain movement of the disk within the cartridge, a locking subassembly to hold the shutter in a desired position, and a mechanism for preventing complete insertion of the cartridge into an optical drive when the cartridge is in the wrong orientation relative to the drive.

  • Patent number: 6678341
Abstract: Like a conventional one-way pager system, a two-way pager system is provided in which a message is received by paging from a base station and a message responding to the received message is returned to the base station. In this system, direct communication and peer-to-peer communication between terminals are performed. All the terminals included in the service area of the base station are always synchronized with sync signals paged from the base station. No special infrastructure is therefore required for synchronizing the terminals with the sync signals to perform the peer-to-peer communication. Furthermore, since each of the terminals receives a paging signal during the peer-to-peer communication, it can respond to a paging call.

  • Patent number: 6644723
Abstract: A vehicle seat is mounted on a floor in a laterally inwardly moveable manner, and is accelerated by a crash load input member, which is more rigid than the remaining part of the vehicle body, inwardly upon occurrence of a vehicle side crash. The vehicle occupant is firmly held to the seat. By thus appropriately controlling the time history of the lateral acceleration of the vehicle occupant at the time of a side crash, the maximum acceleration acting on the vehicle occupant can be controlled. The inward movement of the seat relative to the vehicle body provides a wider space between the vehicle occupant and door panel, and this contributes to the prevention of the injury to the vehicle occupant owing to the intrusion of the door panel into the passenger compartment at the time of a side crash.

  • Patent number: 6621943
Abstract: An improved system and method for obtaining data related to the operation of a processing system which converts from analog measurement data, usually obtained from meters and gages, to digital data. Visual images of various types of measuring instruments are collected and used for measuring a process functionality. An image sensor provides an image of a first feature of the measuring instrument. The image data is processed by an image processor, which is operable to detect a first feature and determine its position relative to a second feature of the measuring instrument. The difference in the relative positions (measured distance) can then be compared to a predetermined or expected value. If the measured and expected values are not substantially the same, a signal can be generated which instructs a controller to adjust the process functionality until the measured value reaches the expected value.
