  • Patent number: 6234977
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for delivering single point pressure sensations to a subject, to provide not only tactile sensory forces, but also precise gradations of these forces in a single hand-held unit. The operator can, by watching for the beginning of a bend in the monofilament probe, know exactly when the proper pressure for the test in progress has been applied. The device further comprises means to vary the angle at which the monofilament is delivered relative to the body portion by providing a choice of interchangeable tip members. The device enables a wide useful range of standardized force reading while substantially reducing the number of components required to accomplish meaningful diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 6227732
Abstract: A sheet package according to the present invention is formed of a synthetic resin sheet and designed in a square-cornered bag shape to have an outer shape corresponding to sheets and a height at which plural sheets are stacked. The sheet package thus constructed is supplied to a user in a state where plural sheets are beforehand stacked and accommodated in a sheet package and packed by a vinyl bag or the like by a sheet maker. Accordingly, the user merely opens the vinyl bag to set the sheets into a sheet tray of a printer by the sheet package.

  • Patent number: 6226692
Abstract: A system and a method for designing and constructing software components and systems by assembling them from independent parts which is compatible with and extends existing object models. A terminal interface and a terminal mechanism for interfacing objects is included. The mechanism is independent from the actual type of interactions established through it and allows objects to invoke directly services of other objects. All objects in a given system implement and expose a terminal interface. A property interface and mechanism with hierarchical property names and ability to execute queries is also included. The mechanism can be used for parameterization and serialization of objects, as well as to provide structured storage. A new and advantageous type of software object, named parts, is defined. Parts are constructed through an abstract factory and implement a property interface and a terminal interface.

  • Patent number: 6203080
Abstract: A bag is sized to accept a hand, wrist and at least a portion of an arm of the user. The bag has an open end and a closed end and parallel side walls extending from the open end towards the closed end such that the portion of the bag sized to fit over a portion of the user's arm and wrist is in the profile of a square or rectangle. The closed end of the polymeric sheet material is configured to accept the thumb and at least two fingers of a user. The bag is specifically adapted to enable a user to pick up and retain an object whereupon the bag can be everted encasing the object in the polymeric sheet material.

  • Patent number: 6188391
Abstract: By suitable use of screen-printed carbon ink patterning, combined with patterning of the solder-mask layer on the top (finger) surface, a compact capacitive touchpad pointing device has been realized using only a two-layer board as a substrate. The first layer, on the topside of the printed circuit board, combines both the horizontal and vertical sensor electrode traces. The second layer, located on the underside of the printed circuit board, is formed in the conventional manner by attaching the controller chip and/or related circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6184427
Abstract: A process of activated cracking of high molecular organic waste material which includes confining the organic waste material in a reactor space as a mixture with a pulverized electrically conducting material (sensitizer) and/or catalysts and/or “upgrading agents” and treating this mixture by microwave or radio frequency electro-magnetic radiation. Organic waste materials include hydrocarbons or their derivatives, polymers or plastic materials and shredded rubber. The shredded rubber can be the source of the sensitizer and/or catalyst material as it is rich in carbon and other metallic species. This sensitizer can also consist of pulverized coke or pyrolytically carbonized organic feedstock and/or highly dispersed metals and/or other inorganic materials with high dielectric loss which absorb microwave or radio frequency energy.
