Abstract: A composition for inclusion within a cigarette, cigar or pipe. The composition can be included within the tobacco itself, a filter for filtering tobacco smoke once burned or even within the paper or wrapper surrounding the tobacco product. The composition is capable of reducing free radical damage to the oro-pharyngeal cavity, respiratory tract and lungs resulting from tobacco smoke. The composition includes L-glutathione and a source of selenium such as selenomethionine.

Abstract: A composition and method of using it for ameliorating inflammatory reactions and painful and other symptoms of the diseases of arthritis, lumbago, low back pain, myalgias and neuralgias. The composition includes reduced glutathione, a selenoamino acid and an anesthetic, such as capsaicin, in a suitable carrier for topical application.

Abstract: A center injection type dental handpiece contains a cutting bar having a hollow axially penetrating the bar, holding means for detachably holding the bar, rotating means for rotating the bar, a water injection nozzle communicating with a cooling water feed source. The water injection nozzle is inserted into the hollow of the bar for injecting a cooling water from tip of the bar. The handpiece further contains a packing for sealing a gap between the outer periphery of the nozzle and the inner periphery of the bar at the proximal end of the bar.

Abstract: A liner for the loading and unloading of objects for use with a rear-opening truck bed. In use, the liner lies flat and occupies virtually the entire surface area of the truck bed. The liner can be gripped and pulled towards the rear opening of the truck and folded downwardly to enable the user to pull the liner toward the rear opening to access objects which would otherwise be difficult to reach.

Abstract: A gutter for a truck having a roof over a cargo storage area. The gutter is employed for channeling water which would cascade from the roof of the truck's rear opening. The gutter includes a clip for removably attaching it to the roof of the truck and a channel for capturing water and directing the water to at least one side of the cargo storage area.

Abstract: An article support and display device for use with a support fixture. At least two spaced apart merchandise pegs are removably supported by the fixture at their proximal ends and have free distal ends for accepting and supporting merchandise for display. A planar sheet material acts as a baffle for residing proximate merchandise to be displayed and for supporting tag molding extending over the full width of the merchandise display.

Abstract: A front derailleur for a bicycle as well as a system including the combination of a front derailleur and shifter. The derailleur includes a fixing member securedly attached to a seat tube of a bicycle frame through a tightening band, a chain guide and a pair of linkage members for supporting the chain guide movable in reciprocation with respect to the fixing member. Further included in the front derailleur is a spool rotatably connecting the fixing member to the chain guide whereby actuation of a shifter located remotely from the derailleur results in rotation of the spool through looped cable causing pivoting of the linkage members and movement of the chain guide in reciprocation with respect to the fixing member.

Abstract: A stationary material mixing apparatus in the shape of a cylindrical conduit being open at both ends. The conduit houses a plurality of mixing elements which are characterized as having no edges perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and which are sized and positioned within the conduit such that at any plane passing perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis, at least 75% of the circumference of the conduit is free of any mixing element.

Abstract: A method of bleaching recycled paper containing pulp wherein said pulp is contacted with ozone in an ozone stage (Z) treatment with a brightness stabilizing step during or at the end of said ozone stage (Z), said stabilizing step consisting of contacting a small amount of hydrogen peroxide with said pulp, the amount of hydrogen peroxide contacted with said pulp being small compared to the amount of hydrogen peroxide usually in an hydrogen peroxide stage, no washing step of the pulp being provided between the ozone contacting step with said pulp and the hydrogen peroxide contacting step. The pulp is first submitted to a test procedure to determine whether the pulp is more reactive to ozone in acidic or alkaline conditions, and if necessary the pH is accordingly adjusted.

Abstract: A sign system having one or more rail sections which are characterized as having substantially uniform cross-sections and longitudinal axis with indents configured within the rail system for accepting protrusions located on sign holder bases. The cross-sections of each rail section are characterized as having an open region for accepting connectors for connecting the rail sections to support elements. Body portions are provided for retaining the connectors as well.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a plasma within a volume containing a mixture of gaseous species. To generate the plasma, at least one large area applicator, which is a part of this invention, is employed. At least one microwave generator introduces microwave power into the applicator by means of suitable waveguides and couplers.

Abstract: An insulated garment which includes an outer fabric and an inner fabric and at least two layers of insulation between the inner and outer fabrics. A first layer of insulation contiguous to the outer fabric is a synthetic material and a second layer of insulation contiguous to the inner fabric is goose down. Stitching maintaining the inner and outer fabrics to the two layers of insulation is patterned so that the stitching of one of the layers of insulation is contiguous to mid-points between the stitching of the second layer of insulation.

Abstract: A fixture holder attachment member for attaching a sign assembly to a C-shaped channel molding extending from an edge of a horizontal shelf. By providing internal baffling, once the U-shaped fixture holder attachment member is captured by the C-shaped channel molding, outwardly extending pressure can be applied to the legs of the U-shaped fixture holder attachment member preventing its inadvertent removal from the C-shaped channel.

Abstract: An exchangeable cartridge for a dental handpiece includes first dust-proofing members for preventing foreign matter from being intruded into an upper bearing and second dust-proofing members for preventing foreign matter from being intruded into a lower bearing. The first dust-proofing members have an upper rotational partitioning member and an upper fixed partitioning member. The upper rotational partitioning member has a protrusion provided above the upper bearing and protruding radially outwardly. The upper fixed partitioning member has a radially inwardly protruding portion lying adjacent and parallel to the protrusion of the upper rotational partitioning member to define a first interstice leading to the upper bearing. The second dust-proofing members have a lower rotational partitioning member and a lower fixed partitioning member. The lower rotational partitioning member has a protrusion provided below the lower bearing and protruding radially outwardly.

Abstract: A derailleur for a bicycle for changing the speed of the bicycle. The derailleur can be distinguished from prior parallelogram designs in employing stationary guide rods over which a pulley wheel assembly is caused to slide as the bicycle's drive chain is shifted between various drive sprocket wheels. Gear shifting is done in a linear motion while being able to center the derailleur's pulley assembly without the use of a return spring which is currently employed by present day parallelogram derailleurs.

Abstract: A sign system frame for accepting and displaying flexible signage of substantially uniform vertical dimension. One or more substantially uniformly parallel pairs of rail sections are provided each having an outer edge and inner edge. The rail sections have substantially uniform cross sections and longitudinal axes wherein at least one of the rail sections is provided with an open region at its outer edge for accepting connectors for connecting the frame to a support. The inner edge of the rail sections are provided with separator slots and signage slots for accepting and frictionally retaining the flexible signage and separator panels. The separator panels are employed to maintain pairs of rail sections parallel to one another at a distance approximating the uniform vertical dimension of the signage.
