Abstract: A golf club used in putting a golf ball having an elongated head constructed of relatively lightweight, preferably aluminum, material at its central portion and having relatively heavier metal end portions. In proportion to the diameter of a standard U.S.G.A. golf ball, the central aluminum head portion is approximately 11/2 to 3 times as long; the end portions are approximately 1/2 to 11/2 times as long. The weight distribution between the head central portion in relation to the heavier metal end portions is such that 60% to 90% of the total weight of the elongated head is contained in the end portions. This weight distribution increases the rotational inertial stability of the club head, improving a golfer's putting accuracy. The central portion of the head is connected to a conventional golf club shaft for use.
Abstract: A rotary pump including a circular case, and mating cover forming a cylindrical cavity, an outer ring sized for rotating within the case cavity, a partial inner ring sized for relative rotation within the outer ring, and a driven elongated blade pivotally interlocked at one end to the inner ring. Abstract: An enclosed locking system for transportable commercial containers having swinging or roll-up access doors. A main feature of this locking system is that it renders the locked container virtually tamper-proof. Only the key access hole is externally accessible. This locking system may be added to existing containers or incorporated into new units. The system is fitted into the container horizontal frame member positioned at the lower edge of the access doors. The locking system comprises two main sub-assemblies, a cam lock housing and a removable lock assembly. The cam lock housing is bolted or welded to the container frame member, while the lock assembly is removable after a locking bolt therein is disengaged from a portion of the cam lock housing by key operation. When the lock assembly is so removed, it exposes a cam actuator lever which, when pivoted, disengages at least one cam lock from a cavity in the lower horizontal edge of the access doors, allowing entry.
Abstract: An improved hypodermic needle to greatly reduce or eliminate trauma to nerve fascicles during the injection of an anesthesia. The needle includes a solid, conically-shaped tip, preferably pointed, an elongated shaft having a hollow interior for delivering the anesthesia and one or more lateral openings strategically spaced away from the tip of the needle. The pinpoint tip of the needle separates the nerve fascicles without cutting them, also preventing intraneural pressurized injection of the anesthesia while allowing for dispensing of the anesthesia in the perineural space. In addition the needle may be used to further localize nerves to be blocked through electrical stimulation. In this embodiment the shaft of the needle has a coating of electrically insulating material or a plastic sleeve while the tip is non-insulated and appropriate circuitry is used in conjunction with the needle so treated.
Abstract: A protective microscope container for housing a microscope having a pair of focus control extension knobs extending therefrom and a pair of two dimensional slide holder control arms extending from the rear of the container. Two dimensional control members are used to drive a continuous slide holder over the viewing area of the microscope so that a plurality of specimen slides may be viewed without handling. The container also includes a light source and a support for a removable lens to provide different color viewing light depending on the nature of the specimen slides. The side walls of the container are hingedly mounted to the base of the container and can be easily opened to allow removal of the slide holder, specimen slides and the microscope if desired.
Abstract: A towel cutting machine includes a drive feed device including rollers for feeding strip material from a towel supply roll to and between a cutter blade and braking-sensing mechanism and into a set of driver pull slip-clutch rollers to pull the strip of material through the towel cutting machine, to hold the strip material taut during cutting and to draw off the towel severed from the end of the strip material after being cut.
Abstract: An ashtray having an upper opening smaller than the internal compartment. The internal compartment stores cigarette ashes and includes a cigarette holding device. The cigarette when placed in the holding device is positioned completely within the internal compartment below the upper opening. The upper opening is sized larger than a large cigarette in order that it may be placed in the cigarette holder position below the plane of the upper opening and the opening is sized smaller in area than the lower area. In the preferred embodiment, from the perimeter of the upper opening of the cigarette ashtray to an intermediate portion the inner surface slopes outwardly as well as downwardly to the maximum outer perimeter. The ashtray is designed and sized to prevent the ashes from being blown directly out of the ashtray by winds passing over the upper opening and places a cigarette held by the holder to be positioned completely below the perimeter of the upper opening.
Abstract: A snap-on, easily removable, fluid shut off valve (with pipe and interlocking member) that is useful as a low cost, primary turn off valve for domestic and commercial fluid fixtures and is quickly installed by manual snap-on between the inlet fluid supply and the supply pipe to conventional fixtures such as faucets or the like. The valve comprises a rigid housing having an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, and a cross-over passage separating the first and second chambers that houses a moveable ball or poppet valve member that is held in the cross-over chamber by a spring retainer. A mechanical plunger or cam device (operable from the exterior of the housing) is disposed within the outlet chamber for contacting and pushing the ball or poppet valve member against the spring retainer, away from the valve seat, to open the valve.
Abstract: An outrigger device attachable to a flying bridge or a tower leg, comprising a hollow tubular member which is connected to the flying bridge or tower support member. Abstract: A solar heating system comprising a solar collector having its input connected to a pressurized fluid source and its output connected to an input of a fluid storage device, the fluid flow from the output being controlled by a thermally controlled valve, a pressure release valve having one input connected to an input/output near the bottom of the fluid storage device, a second input connected to the pressurized fluid source and an output for discharging the excess fluid, and a pressure reducing valve connected between the pressurized fluid source and another input to the fluid storage device. When the pressure in the storage device increases to a predetermined level the pressure release valve will open and allow the excess fluid to be discharged therefrom. The pressure reducing valve enables the fluid storage device to be replenished if the pressure therein decreases to a level below the pressure of the fluid source.
Abstract: A collapsible, durable, mildew proof safety barrier comprising a plurality of vertical support members which are supported in sleeves inserted within the ground, at least one flexible restraining panel connected between the vertical support members, a connecting device for connecting the restraining panel to each of the vertical support members, and a line or rope connected to the top of the panel. In the preferred embodiment the safety barrier is placed around the perimeter of a pool to prevent the unauthorized entrance into the pool. Because of the placement in a potential humid area, the preferred embodiment provides that the vertical support members and the panel fasteners are made of aluminum; the restraining panel is made of polycoated nylon to provide a longer life for the safety barrier. When the fence is not needed, it is simply removed by taking the vertical support members from the sleeves and folding the fence into a storable position.
Abstract: An improved grinding wheel dressing apparatus for reproducing a contour on a grinding wheel from an enlarged contour or master form. The improvement in my previous U.S. Pat. No. 3,022,780 includes a novel linkage system for interconnecting the tool slide and follower slide to produce proportional fractional movement of the tool slide in response to movement of the follower slide. This linkage eliminates all sliding friction and sliding wear by eliminating all sliding interconnections to this linkage. All linkage interconnections are now simple pivot connections. Elimination of these sliding linkage interconnections also reduces manufacturing costs and simplifies manufacturing. All linkage length adjustments have also been eliminated to avoid this difficult adjustment in the field.
