  • Patent number: 5501241
Abstract: A device for drying food products such as vegetables by aeration. The device includes a container having a domed cover and housing a network of tubing having a plurality of apertures through which compressed air is discharged for drying food products supported within said container in a mesh basket. The dome-shaped cover enhances air circulation by re-directing upward flowing air back down toward the enclosed food product causing certain foods such as lettuce to tumble in the resulting air stream. A pressure relief valve operates to limit pressure within the container and allow the escape of moisture laden air. In an alternate embodiment water is first allowed to flow through the tubing network and out of the tube apertures for washing the enclosed food product.

  • Patent number: 5501634
Abstract: A cover assembly for a roof mounted air conditioner unit which allows an increased output air volume to flow from a roof mounted air conditioner into a cooling volume; the assembly comprises a cover, return air grills, side diffuser assemblies, and a register having frame, directional control louvers, volume control louvers, a throttle and mounting screws; the register is substantially in alignment with the output blower of a roof mounted air conditioner and sized to allow a maximum output air volume to flow into the cooling volume. The register's volume control louvers and directional control louvers control the amount of air passing through the register and the direction of air flow respectively. Additionally, a method for retro-fitting existing covers with a register aligned with the output blower of a roof mounted air conditioner thereby producing the same effect of the improved cover assembly is shown.

  • Patent number: 5497797
Abstract: The instant invention provides a fully automated tire treatment system capable of applying chemical treatment uniformly to a tire sidewall. Employing a pair of tracks whereon a carriage and adjustable vending bracket is disposed thereon allows treatment of two tires simultaneously as the tires pass the device triggering a preprogrammed set of instructions though a microprocessor. The track is two elongated guides disposed in parallel relation to one another outboard of the stance posed by a conventional automobile. The carriage has a longitudinal axis perpendicular to the track and is movable along the length of the track. Each carriage employs a vending bracket having the ability to disburse moisture from the tire sidewall before dispensing of chemical by use of an atomizing spray nozzle. By use of a microprocessor, each tire is tracked in accordance with the velocity, dimensional size, and predetermined spatial proximity of an automobile tire as the automobile is moved along a prescribed path of travel.

  • Patent number: 5495828
Abstract: A pet animal boot including a pliable sleeve defined by substantially symmetrical side panels that are integrally formed to define a stitchless sleeve wherein the stitchless sleeve defines an open top end and a closed lower end, substantially conforms to the animal's paw and lower leg, contains an interior fabric liner, and is manufactured from a waterproof, non-slip, flexible and durable polymer solution. An adjustable fastening strap is included for securing the boot to an animal's leg. The sleeve is manufactured by dipping a liner into a polymer solution which adheres to the liner through heat curing so as to form a stitchless and seamless boot.

  • Patent number: 5491964
Abstract: A mulch plate positioned over the chute outlet of conventional mowers so that the clippings are drawn back under the mower by the circulation of air induced by covering the mower chute with the adjustable mulch plate. The clippings are recirculated until they are sufficiently small in size, at which point they are released as mulch. An adjustable mulch plate is also contemplated so that the mulch plate can be raised or lowered to increase or decrease the entrained volume between the mulch plate and the chute outlet. Because the mulch plate is adjustable, mulching can be performed on any length or height of grass (even wet grass) and for hedge trimmings and leaves. An air baffle is also provided for preventing debris from escaping between the mulch plate and the chute outlet.

  • Patent number: 5488767
Abstract: An automatic grommeting machine for high speed, large volume insertion and setting of eyelets, grommets, etc., and their mating washers, without requiring pre-punching of a hole. Dual cams are connected to a series of linkages which control the movement of a top set, a bottom set and a clamper, as well as controlling the withdrawal and insertion of grommet and washer roadway slides in synchrony with the top and bottom sets. The grommeting machine is fully automatic, i.e., the operator simply inserts a piece of material into the machine and activates the machine by pressing a single pedal to insert and set a grommet or eyelet and its corresponding washer in the material.

  • Patent number: 5487649
Abstract: A pulsatile pump the output of which is infinitely variable between a slow pulsatile flow and increased up to a sharply pulsed flow rate until the pulses run together and a smooth flow results, and which may be varied between wide output pressure and frequency limits. The pump is comprised of a pneumatic control circuit, at least two pneumatically isolated compression chambers, and a novel inlet/outlet pump cartridge and condition-responsive locking means. Operation of the pump is controlled by the use of novel tactile pneumatic response switches. Each compression chamber is communicated with a supply of working fluid through the cartridge. Means are provided for varying the operation of the pneumatic circuit and hence the pump. A flow of pressurized fluid, such as air or nitrogen, is used as the operating media of the pneumatic circuit, although other fluids may be used. Means for monitoring and adjusting pump system parameters are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5480743
Abstract: A bipolar compression cell for a water-activated battery that can be used with a plurality of such cells stacked together in a side-by-side array to form the bipolar battery. Each cell includes an elastomeric frame that can be compressed and a special alloy foil that separates cuprous iodide and magnesium elements and which does not interact with the cuprous iodide or magnesium to allow for bipolar action when the cells are stacked side-by-side. The use of elastomeric frames allows for low cost manufacture, eliminating manual construction. The water-activated battery is especially useful in sonobuoys.
