  • Patent number: 4402490
Abstract: A sound and dust insulating wall separates the furnace hall from the casting hall in a metallurgical mill. In order to allow the transport of an overhead crane from one hall to the other, an upper wall portion of the separating wall pivots out of the way. The wall portion comprises frame elements and a plurality of relatively thin overlapping slats. The wall portion is opened by pivoting the frame elements about a horizontally extending hinge. The slats, secured to the frame elements by hinges, also pivot, so that the slats only block the now opened crane passageway by not more than the width of one individual slat.

  • Patent number: 4385562
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to the construction of a traveling overhead crane, to enable a desired high degree of precision to be maintained in the attachment of wheel-carrying top girders to the opposite ends of a movable bridge girder. The bridge girder is provided with end plates, to which the respective wheel-carrying top girders are bolted. The end plates are formed with machined annular recesses, surrounding the bolt holes through which the top girders are attached. These machined recesses are so formed that the bottoms thereof constitute a common reference plane. Tubular sleeves of known axial dimension, are received in these recesses and serve to accurately locate the top girders with respect to the predetermined reference plane. The tubular sleeves may in some cases be very short, in the nature of thick washers, for example, or they may be elongated tubes extending through and welded to the top girders.

  • Patent number: 4377231
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a modular tower-like structure for displaying merchandise for point of purchase sale. The basic tower is formed of cylinders of a plastic sheet material, such as clear "rigid" die cut vinyl plastic, of a thickness enabling it to be collapsed into a relatively flat form for shipping and storage. The sheet plastic tower elements are given a rigid cylindrical form by means of molded plastic end rings, which are of a channel-like cross sectional configuration to lockingly receive the ends of the cylinders. The end rings are of a form and configuration enabling two of them to be bonded in back-to-back relation, providing a structural interlock between the top of one tower module and the bottom of a second tower module above it. The structure is simple, inexpensive, conveniently packaged and shipped, and easily assembled at the display site.
