Abstract: Described is a method as well as an apparatus for hydration of a particulate or pulverulent material containing CaO. The method is peculiar in that water is added in a quantity which will ensure that the partial pressure PH2O of the added water as a function of the temperature (° C.) is maintained within the interval defined by the formula (I), where PH2O is the partial pressure of water vapour in atm. and T is the temperature in ° C. Hereby is obtained that the material particles do not lump into agglomerates, and that the particles are hydrated evenly from the outside and inwards so that it is the active surface of the material particles which undergoes hydration in connection with partial hydration. This is due to the fact that the liquid water will not get into contact with the material particles since the water will appear in vapour form within the specified interval.

Abstract: Cooling jets 1 are provided with a longitudinal aspect 2 greater than width 3. Thus, the coolant flow through the jet 1 is less susceptible to deflection by lateral or cross flows presented to that coolant flow such that cooling by impingement of the coolant flow upon a surface 7 to be cooled is improved. Typically, a plurality of jets 1 are provided in a housing wall 8. These jets 1 will be arranged in an appropriate pattern to achieve cooling by flow impingement upon the surface 7 to be cooled. Possibly, a plurality of jets 1 in an appropriate pattern may be arranged upstream of conventional circular coolant jets in order to provide some protection for those circular coolant jets from lateral or cross flow.

Abstract: Generators 12a are for a distributed generation system. A control system 32a receives information about network faults 14a. In normal conditions, the control system 32a controls the field current in the field coils of the generator 12a, to maintain generator output voltage at the rated value. At the onset of fault conditions, the control system 32a changes the manner in which field current is controlled, in order to reduce the fault current put onto the network.

The first end (52) has a smaller diameter than the second end (53) and a bore (54) extends through the connector (51) from the first end (52) to the second end (53). The second end (53) of the connector (51) is joined (57) to the stack. The pipe (50) is joined (58) to the first end (52) of the connector (51). The interior of the sealed assembly is evacuated via the pipe (50) and the pipe is sealed. Heat and pressure are applied to diffusion bond the metal components (30,36) together to form an integral structure.
Abstract: In order to determine displacement, axial and radial in a rotating component, an optical displacement probe is used incident upon a target formed from surface features in a rotating component surface. The surface features create a target which is axially variable in terms of reflectivity, but substantially consistent for the same circumferential band incident position. In such circumstances, differences in responses can be determined by a controller deducting time period ?T differences between peaks 20, 21, 30, 31 in one axial position from the time period in a different axial position in order to provide an axial signal proportional to axial displacement. In terms of determining radial displacement, an angularly presented probe part in the form of an optical fiber 3 is used so that variation of the time period is proportional to radial as well as axial displacement.
