  • Patent number: 7394058
Abstract: A touch indication device comprises a light guide structure for passing light of a light source via total internal reflection. A touch surface disturbs the total internal reflection when touched, causing light to leave the light guide structure. A light enhancement layer converts the light leaving the light guide and sends the converted light to a light detector. The light enhancement layer amplifies the intensity and/or changes the color of the light leaving the light guide. The detector determines the position of the touch on the touch surface based on the light from the light enhancement layer.

  • Patent number: 7366049
Abstract: A dual port memory is updated at substantially the same data sampling rate as a clock frequency of the dual port memory. The dual port memory stores data relating to each different parameter value in a stream of data samples, and provides the stored data from an address in the memory corresponding to the received parameter value. An updating element updates stored data and provides the updated data to an input of the dual port memory for writing back into the address corresponding to the received parameter value. A first port of the dual port memory is utilised as the output of the dual port memory coupled to the input of the updating element on a first clock cycle of the dual port memory, and a second port of the dual port memory is normally utilised as the input of the dual port memory coupled to the output of the updating element on a second clock cycle, the next address being accessed via the first port on the second clock cycle.

  • Patent number: 7362149
Abstract: Zero crossings for a non-symmetrical VIN may be determined by first amplifying and clipping VIN to create a non-symmetrical square wave whose zero crossings are those of VIN. A selected polarity edge of the non-symmetrical square wave may be taken as a 0° indicator and is used to create a fundamental sawtooth ramp of the same frequency and in phase with VIN. The fundamental sawtooth ramp starts at zero volts, linearly ramps to some peak and is AC coupled to a comparator whose other input is zero volts. That creates a square wave that is symmetrical as to its half-cycles, and whose every other edge is synchronous with the start of the fundamental sawtooth ramp, and whose intervening edges occur in the middle of the ramp. The intervening edge is detected and taken as a 180° indicator.

  • Patent number: 7327202
Abstract: An IQ modulator's performance is optimized through determination of suitable control parameters by the application of known DC biases as the I and Q inputs. Also known are the relative amplitude and actual phase of the sine and cosine carriers to be modulated before they are summed. It is shown that by measuring an RMS voltage Atotal an appropriate number of times for a related combination of the applied DC biases in conjunction with the other known input parameters, a number of behavior parameters that are indicative of mixer performance can be discovered through analysis, such as the solution of a system of linear equations. The combination of behavior parameters may be assigned a Figure Of Merit (FOM) that can be taken as an indication of the degree to which mixer operation approaches ideal behavior. The control parameters may be perturbed over a selected range, and the extraction of the behavior parameters repeated.

  • Patent number: 7277820
Abstract: In apparatus for generating a Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function (CCDF) curve for an input signal, an analog to digital converter (ADC) samples the input signal at sampling points to provide a parameter value corresponding to a desired parameter of the input signal at each sampled point. A memory element provides a frequency count of occurrence of each received parameter value from an address in the memory corresponding to the received parameter value. An adder receives the frequency count, increments the count and provides the incremented count to an input of the memory element for writing back into the address corresponding to the received parameter value. A CCDF curve generating module reads the frequency count stored in the memory element corresponding to each parameter value and generates a CCDF curve therefrom.

  • Patent number: 7265700
Abstract: Digital samples corresponding to a pulsed input signal are provided from an ADC to a memory for storage and to a pulse extraction circuit. The pulse extraction circuit detects the leading and trailing edges of pulses in the input signal. The digital samples are stored in both a Current memory buffer and a Next memory buffer. When a pulse trailing edge is detected, the Current buffer is stopped from storing further samples, the Next buffer becomes the Current buffer and a new buffer becomes the Next buffer. Digital data samples are then provided from the (previous) Current buffer after it has stopped storing samples.

  • Patent number: 7120798
Abstract: A system generates and verifies signatures on hardcopy documents. A signor key is associated with a signor of a hardcopy document. A document signature is generated using the signor key to encode data selected from document data required to be on the hardcopy document. The document signature is then associated with the hardcopy document. A data indicator is also associated with the hardcopy document and indicates which of the document data is used to generate the document signature. A verification section receives the hardcopy document having the document data thereon, and also receives the document signature and the associated data indicator. The verification section performs a comparison to determine whether the document signature was generated using the signor key and the document data indicated by the data indicator.

  • Patent number: 6313710
Abstract: The interaction structure with integral coupling and bunching section and method of use of the present invention produces backward wave oscillations in an RF structure which combines ballistic bunching and extended beam-wave interaction in a complex resonator assembly. The complex extended interaction structure includes a five-gap electromagnetically-coupled cavity structure with a coaxial section inserted between the first and second cavities. The first cavity serves as a buncher cavity while the four subsequent cavities serve as energy cavities. In the coaxial section, beam and wave propagate in separate channels. The field in the buncher cavity is coupled to the four subsequent energy extraction cavities through the wave channel between the inner and outer conductors of the coaxial section, while the electron beam drifts along a cylindrical channel cut through the inner conductor of the coaxial section.
