Abstract: Parametric data accumulation means are accumulated in a Terminal Server data file which uses a performance measurement tool program to accumulate operational data occurring in multiple client users which operate on a Terminal Server. Data is accumulated in regard to the log-on time for multiple and various different types of application programs. Each of these parameters are evaluated over a sequence of different operating conditions during periods where the parametric evaluations occur when there is a small number of client users and then over a sequence of expanded operations until there is a large number of concurrent active client users. Subsequently, the Terminal Server data file is formatted and categorized into a database which is used to create a graphical chart of performance plus specific lists of performance for each client-user correlated to each available Application Program.

Abstract: An electrical connector is provided which can releasably engage a circuit card within a slot defined by the electrical connector. A camming mechanism is provided which includes a slide having a series of camming surfaces for cooperating with a corresponding series of follower surfaces associated with a pin holder. Longitudinal movement of the slide causes the cooperating surfaces to spread open card edge receiving portions of the slot, or to close down over the portions of the circuit card to be engaged. The electrical connector preferably has an opening in one end to allow a circuit card to enter the slot from the side, allowing circuit cards to be removed from or installed in a rack, frame or other chassis from the side. A key is provided to ensure correct alignment of the circuit card in the slot prior to closure of the release mechanism.
Abstract: Methods for calculating mass storage requirements for a relational database table including both data pages and index pages. The methods allow direct calculation of the data storage and index storage requirements for a data base table, the methods based in part on the page size, the record length, and the number of records. The database requirement can be increased by partial unavailability of pages and rows. The methods include methods for calculating the number of B-tree levels in the index or indexes. The methods avoid the need for interactive calculations of the required size for a database table starting from the number of records, record size, and page size.
Abstract: A system and method for managing a pool of threads for executing thread operations. A thread pool is instantiated which includes a plurality of threads, and a work queue having program controllable states is instantiated. Thread operations are queued to the work queue when the work queue is in a running or suspended state, and when the work queue is in a stopped state requests to queue thread operations are denied. The work queue supports controlled allocation of thread resources to a variety of thread operations.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for initiating execution of selected application processors in a clustered multiprocessor system without disrupting the addressing mode of the processors. In one embodiment, this is accomplished by initializing the processors in a conventional way, setting the addressing mode, and then leaving each of the processors in an active mode spinning on a designated Startup Address Location. To start an application processor, the OS simply write a target processor ID and a desired start-up address into the Startup Address Location. The application processor with the matching processor ID reads the Startup Address Location, jumps to the address specified in the Start-Up Address code section, and begins execution at that location. In another embodiment, a processor is provided that does not switch addressing modes when switched from a halt state.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for converting a UML rendering of an RSM-based metamodel to a UML rendering of a MOF-based metamodel. The method includes the steps of removing inheritance from classes defined within a Repository Services Model (“RSM”) and removing each explicit “construct” operation from each class in the RSM-based metamodel Next, each use in the RSM-based metamodel of an RSM type is changed to use a non-RSM type. After this, each element of the RSM-based metamodel is converted to a corresponding MOF-based element and a determination is made as to whether or not the RSM naming service is used in the RSM-based metamodel, and if so “name” attributes are added that would have been inherited from the RSM classes. A <<metamodel>> stereotype is added to the UML rendering of the MOF-based metamodel; and the MOF properties are set on the UML rendering.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for efficiently selecting cells within a circuit design database. The invention includes four primary features for selecting cells including (1) selecting only those cells that are in a pre-identified region and within a pre-identified selection area; (2) maneuvering through the circuit design hierarchy and selecting cells or regions at selected levels of hierarchy by using predetermined up and down hot-keys; (3) sorting selected cells by instance name, and manually selecting a desired cell or region from the resulting sorted list; and (4) sorting selected cells by a corresponding net name, and manually selecting a desired cell or region from the resulting sorted list.

Abstract: A test application allows configuration of test parameters and launches a voice processing engine and a timing object. The voice processing engine outputs data to the timing object. The timing object receives data, regularly removes data, and tracks the amount of data remaining in the timing object. The timing object reports an underflow if there is no data in the timing object and the voice processing engine has not signaled end of processing.
Abstract: A computer aided design (CAD) tool takes into account system-level design parameters by considering data from a number of printed circuit board (PCB)-related data files. In one embodiment, the CAD tool takes into account signal path length at the system-level for a computer system comprising more than one PCB. In another embodiment, the CAD tool provides a three-dimensional display for showing how at least one signal path traverses the computer system in going from one PCB to another PCB.

Abstract: A data compressor for compressing an input stream of data characters into an output stream of compressed codes includes a plurality of AND-gates corresponding to a respective plurality of codes to be assigned to strings. Each string comprises a prefix string, having an associated prefix code, and an extension character. An AND-gate has a prefix code input and a character input for enabling the AND-gate, the energized output of an AND-gate providing a representation of the code corresponding thereto. The compressor includes a first matrix switch for selectively coupling the provided representations of codes corresponding to the AND-gates to the prefix code inputs of the AND-gates and a second matrix switch for selectively coupling representations of data characters fetched from the input stream to the character inputs of the AND-gates.
Abstract: A document processing system includes an image capture system, a multiple engine recognition system, and an application system. The image capture system generates a first electronic image of a first region of a document, where the first electronic image has a first image format. The image capture system also generates a second electronic image of a second region of a document, where the second electronic image has a second image format. The multiple recognition system transmits the first electronic image to a first recognition engine and a second recognition engine. The multiple engine recognition system also transmits the second electronic image to the second recognition engine. The first recognition engine generates a first recognition result, and the second recognition engine generates a second recognition result.
