    Abstract: The invention relates to fasteners adapted for use in automobile air bag attachment systems. The fastener comprises a hook to engage a vehicle structure during installation and a pin to lock the fastener in place. Advantageously, the hook portion may be quickly installed and will support the air bag assembly while allowing any positional adjustments to be made prior to locking the fastener by depressing the pin until it is fully engaged in the vehicle structure. An embodiment of the invention incorporates both a locking method to prevent the fastener from being disengaged and a method of releasing this lock if needed for servicing. Another aspect of the invention provides a method for reducing the likelihood of improperly installed parts by preventing locking when the fastener is in a partially installed configuration.

The latch includes a latch body, a track, a housing surrounding the track and latch body, a follower with a pin that moves in the track to actuate the push/push latch. The invention also includes a hammer that repositions when a g-force is applied to the latch to stop the movement of the track body thus preventing the latch from opening during a g-force situation such as a vehicle crash. The hammer may be connected to the housing or to the latch body.

In one embodiment, the visual indicator aligns with a reference point on the cage when the nut is fully tightened.     Abstract: A fastening system is configured to secure a first panel to a second panel while isolating the first panel from the second panel. The fastening system may include a first retainer, a sleeve, and a fastener. The first retainer may include a planar sheet and a central opening. The sleeve includes a plurality of inwardly-canted tabs, wherein a central channel is formed through the sleeve. The sleeve is secured within the central opening of the planar sheet. The fastener is positioned within the central channel of the sleeve and the inwardly-canted tabs securely engage the fastener to prevent the fastener from retreating within the sleeve. The fastening system may also include a second retainer, wherein a portion of the sleeve snapably secures to a portion of the second retainer.

    Abstract: A self-locking wire terminal assembly and a shape memory wire termination system includes an electrical terminal constructed with spring legs which provide two opposing points of contact on a mating electrical conductive pin. The points of contact prevent the pin from being removed. The shape memory termination system is formed by electrically coupling a clip assembly to shape memory wire and to an electrical source. In one embodiment, the shape memory wire causes an actuator to activate when the shape memory wire dissipates electrical power. The terminal assemblies may be manufactured by assembling wire with conduction pads onto a continuous reel. The terminal assemblies may be formed from the reel by trimming wire and linkages between the conduction pads.

A channel support member adapted to reside between the leg elements may be disposed at a position below the cross member.
