Abstract: A closure of a double cartridge for a dispensing appliance comprises piercing members for piercing a membrane provided on the outlet openings of the cartridge, the piercing members including two stoppers which are tapered at their front sides. With the closure, it is possible when using the cartridge to pierce the membrane without searching for a suitable object and to reuse the cartridge without soiling.
Abstract: There is disclosed a bicycle speed change operation assembly wherein the speed change operation can be performed during the braking operation, and the speed change can be made in an optimum way in relation to various running situations.
Abstract: A surface emitting AlGaInP LED having an ITO layer as a window layer to eliminate the current crowding effect, and an ohmic contact layer between its double hetero-structure of AlGaInP and the ITO layer, so that ITO can be utilized with the double hetero-structure of AlGaInP.

Abstract: The fencing construction comprises a sleeve for covering an elongated beam. The sleeve has a pair of symmetric L-shaped parts provided with opposite male and female interlocking members longitudinally extending along free edges thereof for meshing in a locking engagement and holding the two parts together around the beam. It allows to either upgrade an existing fence or construct a new fence with low cost materials, such as wood, and transform at least parts thereof into a PVC-like fence for improving its service life.
Abstract: A screen dram for the dewatering and/or washing of cellulose pulp, comprises a first cylinder (2) made from non-stainless material, which is rotatable about its axis (5); a cylindrical screen plate (6) arranged coaxially on the outside of the first cylinder, but at a distance from it, and between the screen plate and the first cylinder an annular chamber (7) which can receive liquid which has passed through the screen plate, which chamber contains passages (26) which extend in the axial direction towards one or both ends of the drum for the withdrawal of the screen liquid. The chamber (7) is lined with stainless steel (8) in the form of one or more cylindrical plate sections (8a, 8b . . . 8n). These, by virtue of shrink joints, can be joined to and bear in seal-tight arrangement against the cylindrical casing of the first cylinder. Preferably, the stainless steel contains at least 5% molybdenum.
Abstract: Disclosed is a biaxial balance adjusting structure for a medical stand apparatus, containing a retaining link mechanism 4, utilizing a parallel link 2, supported on the pivot S of a frame 1; a medical optical device W.sub.1 and/or auxiliary devices W.sub.2, W.sub.3, disposed to one end portion of the retaining link mechanism and a counterweight disposed on the other end portion thereof relative to the pivot S; characterized in that the counterweight consists of a first counterweight W.sub.4 which can be moved in the horizontal direction and a second counterweight W.sub.5 which can be moved in the vertical direction, and that the balance adjusting structure employs a system for moving the first and second counterweights W.sub.4, W.sub.5 interlocking with each other to be closer to or farther from the pivot S in the respective directions. Thus, balance adjustment in accordance with the weight change on the operating microscope side can be facilitated.
Abstract: The dispensing appliance for at least two components comprises a respective pump assembly for each component, each of said pumps being connected to a detachable container holding one of said components, and the pump outlets ending in a common but divorced outlet. Said pump assemblies are held in a frame which can be dismantled and reassembled, and the cylinders of said pump assemblies are composed of different segments.Such an appliance is compact and allows an easy change of metering ratios, simplified manufacture and cleaning.
Abstract: The device for the continuous monitoring of the correct proportioning and mixing of at least two fluids comprises a static or dynamic mixing device ending in a nozzle, wherein within the nozzle, the cross-sectional area of the stream or flow after the last mixing element of the static mixing device or at the end of the dynamic mixing device, as seen in the direction of flow, is substantially reduced compared to the cross-sectional area of the mixing part of the mixing device. This reduction is realized either by an internal volume displacing means or by reducing the diameter of the nozzle after the last mixing element of the static mixing device or at the end of the dynamic mixing device, and the nozzle being at a maximum transparency at the point of scanning. Such devices allow a more accurate monitoring since the greatest possible part of the stream of the mixed material can be more easily viewed or sensed.
Abstract: A regulating control valve used with automatic pool cleaners in swimming pools is disclosed. A cap serves as a closure for the opening in a relief chamber and has a relief port therethrough. On the underside of the cap and surrounding the port there is a hollow boss which serves as a valve seating against which a relief valve within the chamber seals. There is a bleed opening between the cap and the relief valve which is permanently connected to the main water passage. The bleed passage is formed either by an eccentric enlargement to the port or by a cut out in the boss.
Abstract: A hand lamp for examining e.g. underbodies, brakes and wheel bearings of motor vehicles in test stands comprises a housing with a grip, at least one energy storage disposed in said housing, a light source with reflector, and switching elements for switching said light source on and off, wherein on the housing (1) at least one transmitting element (8) for remote control of specific components of the test stand is arranged which is connected to the energy storage (4) and the actuating switches (11, 12) via an electric control circuit (10).
Abstract: Based on the fact that those portions of a lead frame which are liable to undergo deformation are the to-be-nonplated portions, the to-be-nonplated portions defined around the to-be-plated portions are covered with an adhesive tape or a resin film before the lead frame is subjected to a plating treatment, whereby to prevent deformation of the lead frame from the stage preceding to the surface treating step.
Abstract: In a power supply circuit for an electric discharge machine, an inductive element is placed in circuit with the power supply and the gap. During the rise time of the machining current, the inductor element is shorted out by a switching element TR2 preventing it from affecting the time constant of the circuit. After the machining current's rise time, the inductive element is reinserted in series with the power supply and the gap in order to minimize the machining current cutoff and maintain a continuous flow of machining current.
Abstract: A photo-coupled control apparatus for vehicle auxiliary lighting system comprises a combination of a photo coupling set. The set includes a control light emitter assembly and a control light sensor assembly. The control light emitter assembly is attached to the interior surface of the windshield of the vehicle, and has a light emitting device for emitting light signals. The control light sensor assembly is attached to the exterior surface of the windshield at a location opposite the location of the control light emitter assembly across the windshield, and has a light sensing device for receiving the light signals emitted by the light emitting device of the control light emitter assembly. A switch is connected to an electrical power source for providing electric power to the light emitting device of the control light emitter assembly when the switch is turned on for emitting the light signals.
Abstract: A backfill for an engineered barrier used to contain radioactive waste has a predetermined amount of clayic material and a predetermined amount of a reinforcement material with hydrophobic surface characteristics. The reinforcement material may include hydrophobic compounds selected from group consisting of organic polymers or inorganic materials on which a layer of hydrophobic compounds is formed. The hydrophobic reinforcement material results in the backfill maintaining a very low water permeability while providing high mechanical strength and other properties suitable for use in a repository of radioactive waste.
Abstract: The electrically operated dispensing appliance comprises two electric motors (1, 26), one of the electric motors (1) acting upon the driving screw (70) through a first gear drive (2) having a greater reduction ratio in order to rotate the driving screw in the advancing direction, and the other one of the electric motors (26) acting upon the driving screw (70) through a second gear drive (27) having a smaller reduction ratio in the other direction in order to retract the driving screw for relieving a dispensing cartridge and in order to turn the driving screw back when the thrust rod(s) (15) are retracted in order to exchange the storage cylinders.
Abstract: In an ion exchange treatment method for producing or regenerating an aqueous EDM fluid to be used for electric discharge machining, raw water is supplied under pressure to a column (4) charged with ion-exchange resins, and passed through a resin phase in the column (4), at a conspicuously large space velocity, for example, at least 20 h.sup.-1. Thereby, "harmful ions" to electric discharge machining are preferentially and selectively removed without excessively reducing electric conductivity of treated water at the outlet of the resin phase. The raw water is circulated through the resin phase, with the ion exchange treatment including such a large space velocity, until overall electric conductivity of treated water in a storage tank (17) is reduced to a desire value. The raw water is prevented from excessive ion exchange treatment to increase the volume of treated water per unit volume of resins, resulting in the longer useful life of resins.
Abstract: A manually actuated dispensing device for use with double dispensing cartridges for delivering two-component compositions comprises a double thrust ram for each cartridge and a drive member jointly acting on the thrust ram and being actuated by a trigger lever, the drive member comprising a thrust member which acts upon a toothing on the thrust ram. The thrust member comprises a driving dog provided with several teeth and being under the action of a spring, the driving dog acting substantially perpendicularly on the toothing of the thrust ram, and the thrust member acting essentially in the direction of the thrust ram or, respectively, the dispensing direction only. Such a dispensing device can be manufactured from a small number of low-priced parts of synthetic material and allows by the use of several teeth a substantial lowering of the contact-pressure, and a fast re-gripping of the trigger lever having a very small backlash.
Abstract: This invention provides a a ROM (10) which stores circuit function definition data for defining specified logic circuits relating to electric discharge machining and a programmable IC (20) which defines a specified logic circuit according to the circuit function definition data. This configuration is cost effective and minimizes hardware space requirements compared with configurations which used different logic circuits combined together. Further, when hardware needs to be reconfigured, the change can be achieved easily by replacing ROM (10) only.
