  • Patent number: 8028686
Abstract: A thin veneer stone saw and related methods are provided. The thin veneer stone saw includes one or more circular saw blades. In an embodiment, two circular saw blades are arranged such that a masonry block, such as stone, may be sawed completely through in a single pass through the thin veneer stone saw. The stone may be delivered to, and processed through, the circular saw blades by a conveyor system. One of the circular saw blades may be centered below the top surface of the conveyor and protrude through a gap between two sections of the conveyor system. The other circular saw blade may be positioned entirely above the top surface of the conveyor system. The thin veneer stone saw may be operable to produce thin veneer stones in a variety of widths. The thin veneer stones may be used to form facade for a structure.

  • Patent number: 8031042
Abstract: Magnetic structures for use in components utilized in switched mode power supplies can be combined to provide space and cost savings. Portions of magnetic cores can be utilized to form more than one component and/or separate magnetic cores can be combined into a single core. Further, a layer of material that has a higher flux density saturation point than the core and that is lower in permeability than the core (but higher than that of air) can be placed adjacent to the air gap in a core to decrease the magnetic flux passing through the vicinity surrounding the core so as to reduce EMI. A differential-mode choke and a separate common-mode choke can be combined onto a single core. An extra leg for a PFC choke core can be added to an isolation transformer core to form a single combined core. A pair of E-E core structures can be combined into a single core structure such as could be used to combine a pair of separate PFC chokes into an integrated pair of PFC chokes.

  • Patent number: 8022301
Abstract: This invention relates to collet-type splices and collet-type dead ends and methods for splicing together two electricity transmission cables or terminating one electricity transmission cable, the cables comprising a composite core surrounded by a conductor. The collet-type fittings use a collet inside a collet housing to hold the composite cores without penetrating or otherwise weakening the core itself. The composite cores can be stripped of the aluminum conductor to provide a bond between the collet and the composite core. The collet seats within the collet housing thereby holding the composite core with frictional forces. The design of the collet enables the composite core to stretch longitudinally through the collet to strengthen the frictional hold.

  • Patent number: 8019706
Abstract: The classification of data stored on a storage medium is dynamically modified without the data being relocated to another storage medium. Data stored on a plurality of storage mediums is classified independent of the physical location at which the data resides. Rather than moving data to storage media that possess different classifications, the data itself receives a classification apart from the storage medium. Data which is considered high priority would be afforded maximum use of the storage medium resources and bandwidth availability. Data that is of lower interest is classified with a lower classification resulting in differing levels of resources authorized to access that data. Throughout this reclassification process the data remains resident on the same storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8016434
Abstract: A projection assembly and projection method for accurately reproducing animated and live characters, objects, and effects. The projection assembly uses a high precision robotic mirror system to achieve very high levels of image resolution, brightness, and contrast. The assembly includes a projector receiving an input image stream, and a mirror assembly is positioned proximate to the projector outlet. The mirror assembly uses positionable mirrors to reflect the projected images onto a display surface at positions that define an animation pattern on the display surface for the projected image or character. The assembly includes a motor controller assembly positioning the mirrors based on position data defining the animation pattern. The projected images may be provided in a projection area that is a fraction of the size of the display surface, such that the resolution and output light of the projector are concentrated on the display surface within this projection area.

  • Patent number: 8006172
Abstract: A parallel iterative decoding system interposed between a network interface and a block memory matrix receives encoded data and both stores the data in a First-In-First-Out (“FIFO”) memory block and processes it through a timing recovery engine. The timing recovery engine delivers to an iterative decoder synchronized data samples and detects cycle slip. The iterative decoder thereafter performs a predetermined number of iterations to decode the data. Responsive to encoded data failing to converge after the predetermined number of iterations, the encoded data is communicated from the FIFO memory to an auxiliary decoder module. The auxiliary iterative error correction code decoder performs a second predetermined number of iterations to decode the data wherein the number of iterations performed by the auxiliary iterative error correction code decoder is greater than the primary iterative error correction code decoder.
