  • Patent number: 7943044
Abstract: A biological fluid processing or fluid filtration system is provided having novel open and closed loop processing systems wherein the gases transferred into and out of the system during processing pass through a porous medium in upstream and/or downstream gas inlet or outlet housings or vents in a manner which precludes the fluid being processed or filtered from ever contacting the housings or vents. Each housing or vent is separated from the fluid by a column of gas in its respective transfer line. The upstream gas inlet housing or vent is in communication with the unfiltered biological fluid, and the downstream gas inlet housing or vent is in communication with the filtered biological fluid.

  • Patent number: 7916379
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of antioxidants of different kinds and concentrations in electrochromic elements having an ion conducting component to suppress self-discharging. In comparison to electrochromic elements known from prior art, electrochromic elements according to the invention show a significantly smaller increase in transmissivity for a period of time after the electric current necessary to decrease transmissivity is switched off. The use of sterically hindered amines and/or 1,3,5-trisubstituted phenols has proven particularly effective for this purpose.

  • Patent number: 7883659
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for equalizing the orientation of fillers and/or distribution of fillers in a molding compound comprising filled plastic material of an injection molded part. A method of this type is required in particular during injection molding. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the injection mold and the molding compound are supplied with sound during injection molding in the injection mold. The sound has a frequency in the range of the spectrum of the first ten natural frequencies of the filler-matrix system. By supplying with this sound, the fillers, for example fibers, are distributed within the injection molding compound in a more isotropic manner with respect to their orientation and distribution so that significantly better mechanical and optical properties of the injection molded part are produced.

  • Patent number: 7866187
Abstract: A press bending station includes an annular mold (5) and a full-face mold (6). Holes (10), selectively connected to a negative pressure source, are placed in portions of the full-face mold (6) that are determined by the configuration of the annular mold when the annular mold comes into contact with a heated glass sheet (2) during the press bending process. The sheet (2) is drawn by negative pressure through the holes (10) towards the full-face mold (6) and thus acquires its shape. Positive pressure may be selectively applied to the holes (10) to release the sheet (2). According to the invention, at least some of the holes (10) are arranged in at least one groove (11) formed in the mold face of the full-face mold. The grooves (11) according to the invention accelerate considerably the removal by negative pressure of the air between the molding face of the full-face mold (6) and the glass sheet (2) to be bent and thus improve the press bending process.
