Abstract: A copolymer prepared from a bis-(N-alkyphthalimide), a dianhydride and a diamine, and a process of preparing the copolymer by reacting a bis-(n-alkyphthalimide) with an alkali to form a tetracid, dehydrating the tetracid to a dianhydride and reacting the dianhydride with a diamine under copolymer forming conditions.
Abstract: Novel diimide diacids and modified polyetherimide esters are prepared therefrom by reacting diols, dicarboxylic acids and a combination of the novel diimide diacid and dimer acid. These compositions have many excellent properties which make them particularly useful for extrusion and molding applications.
