Patent number: 6760476Abstract: The invention allows a purchaser of lottery tickets to scan multiple lottery tickets at once, send the resulting image to a web site, where the web site will indicate to the purchaser whether any of the tickets are winners and also highlight on the image for the purchaser the location of a winning ticket in the image and also highlight where on the ticket the winning number is. The method for checking lottery tickets comprises the steps of digitizing at least one lottery ticket comprising lottery numbers to form an image, performing optical character recognition on the image to obtain the lottery numbers, comparing the lottery ticket lottery numbers to at least one winning lottery number and reporting the winning status of the at least one lottery ticket.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2001Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Inventor: Martin G. Patent number: 6500591Abstract: A method to achieve good stepper focus and exposure over an entire wafer for a particular mask level before the start of a product run is described. This method can also be used to produce a characterization of lens field curvature (i.e., a surface of optimum focus across the lens) and to characterize lens astigmatism, defocus sensitivity, relative resolution, and other characteristics, and to check the stepper for optical column tilt. The process prevents the complexities of resist development from affecting determination of focus. The process involves forming an array of latent images in a resist and examining the scattered light from the edges of the latent images. Analysis of the scattered light quickly provides information on correct exposure and focus together with lens characteristics over the printing field.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1999Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventor: Thomas Evans Adams

Patent number: 6140401Abstract: The invention concerns the use of a stabilizer combination for polyvinylchloride-based moulding compounds. The stabilizer combination contains (a) at least one solid inorganic component in amounts ranging from 0.3 to 3 parts by weight, relative to 100 parts by weight of polyvinylchloride, selected from sodium aluminosilicates, hydrotalcites and calcium-aluminium-hydroxy-phosphites, and (b) at least one solid or liquid zinc salt in amounts corresponding to a zinc to component (a) ratio of from 0.02 to 0.25 to 1, selected from zinc salts of monocarboxylic acids, substituted or unsubstituted benzoic acid and dicarboxylic acids. This stabilizer combination is used in the production of half-hard and soft polyvinylchloride foils by the calendering process in order to prevent a build-up of coating on the rollers used in this process.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1997Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Henkel Kommanditgesellschaft auf AktienInventors: Peter Wedl, Ernst-Udo Brand, Arthur Peters, Joerg-Dieter Klamann

Patent number: 6017787Abstract: A twin tub integrated circuit and method for its formation are disclosed. A portion of the substrate is covered by photoresist while an n region is formed, illustratively, by ion implantation. Then the n region is covered with a protective material, illustratively a spin on glass or another photoresist. The previously-formed photoresist is removed and a p-type implant is performed to create an p region. When all the protective layers are removed, both regions have upper surfaces which are co-planar. The co-planar surfaces, a departure from previous practice, make submicron lithography easier. The regions are annealed to form twin tubs.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1996Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Sailesh Chittipeddi, William Thomas Cochran, Stephen Knight

Patent number: 5976291Abstract: A Process for Joining Plastic Moldings Plastic moldings can be joined with one-component or two-component adhesives, the connecting joint being spanned by metal strips. The metal strips are at least partly embedded in the adhesive layer. This process is particularly suitable for repairing damaged plastic moldings, more particularly automobile parts, for example fenders. The moldings repaired by the process according to the invention are restored to their original performance properties, more particularly dimensional rigidity, impact strength and appearance. In the event of scrapping, the moldings thus repaired are fully recyclable by conventional methods.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1997Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Henkel Teroson GmbHInventor: Michael Schaetzle

Patent number: 5913148Abstract: A method of semiconductor fabrication which permits the creation of openings which have dimensions smaller than what may be achieved by conventional lithography. In an illustrative processing sequence, a pattern transfer material is deposited upon another material layer. The pattern transfer material is covered with photoresist which is subsequently patterned. With the patterned photoresist as a mask, the pattern transfer material is etched with a process which creates inward sloping walls. Then the pattern transfer material is used as a mask to etch the underlying material. The inward sloping walls of the pattern transfer material permit creation of an opening in the underlying material which is smaller than the corresponding opening in the photoresist. The method may also be used to create trenches or field oxides which have dimensions smaller than those achievable by lithography.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1995Date of Patent: June 15, 1999Assignee: Lucent Technologies IncInventor: Graham William Hills

Patent number: 5891562Abstract: Described is a multi-layer, flexible transfer tape with a backing and an adhesive layer, wherein between the backing and adhesive layer a bonding agent-containing transfer layer is provided, which adheres more strongly to the adhesive layer than to the backing. With this a) the bonding agent-containing transfer layer and/or b) the adhesive layer contains fine hollow particles and a water-soluble, solid alcohol. Furthermore the invention relates to a suitable process for producing such a transfer tape as well as to special application possibilities of same, in particular in rolled-up form in a hand apparatus. In particular, when used it leads to a transferred layer in which fractures, in particular micro-cracks, are excluded, and in an improvement of the initial adhesion when the transfer tape is used again after it has been stored for a long time.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1997Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Assignee: Pritt Produktionsgesellschaft mbHInventors: Wolfhard Rutz, Wolfgang Giersemehl, Wolfgang Bauersachs, Karl-Heinz Weissmann, Lothar Titze

Patent number: 5874625Abstract: An improved, optimized industrial process has been found for the hydrogenation of organic nitrites into primary amines, which essentially consists of contacting a dried charge of at least one organic nitrile, aqueous alkali metal hydroxide, at least one Raney slurry hydrogenation catalyst, water and hydrogen for an effective time and at an effective temperature and pressure, wherein the improvements comprise eliminating the steps of drying the charge and adding water and reducing the required water to about 0.2%. Secondary and tertiary amine formation is low, as is moisture content and neither precious metals such as rhodium, nor strategic metals, such as cobalt nor ammonia gas nor solvents are required. Surprisingly, it has been found that water levels less than that taught in the prior art are effective at suppressing secondary and tertiary amine production, while still producing repeatable product on an industrial scale and with reduced cycle time, energy and catalyst charge.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1996Date of Patent: February 23, 1999Assignee: Henkel CorporationInventor: A.
