  • Patent number: 5694713
Abstract: An automatic handgun with a laser sight which may be adjusted in elevation is disclosed. A laser beam source and mechanism for adjusting the elevation are all contained within the guide rod chamber. At the front of the guide rod cylinder an adjusting ring is turned clockwise or counter-clockwise to rotate a slotted cylinder having a spiraled slot therein in which rides a finger of a cam rod. The cam rod is moved forward or backward to move a cradle to tilt a yoke holding an optical prism through which the laser beam passes. The beam is bent depending upon the tilt of the prism. The automatic handgun is thus provided with a laser sight that may be adjusted for elevation and all of the components of the sight are contained internally of the handgun within the slide return chamber.

  • Patent number: 5664593
Abstract: An apparatus for applying suntan lotion including a liquid tight enclosure of generally cylindrical shape. The upper wall portions are tilted inwardly to form a central neck enclosure. A door in side walls of the enclosure is spring biased to the closed position. Lotion mist ports are disposed about the interior of the enclosure and supplied from a lotion distribution tube which in turn is supplied from at least one atomizing nozzle. A pump pumps the liquid lotion from a supply dispenser to the atomizing nozzles. As the lotion is pumped through the atomizing nozzle, it is formed into mist droplets which are communicated to the distribution pipe and then to the mist outlets in the chamber. The droplets contact the body of the person in the chamber and are applied to the skin in that manner. A recirculating pump is provided for evacuating the misted droplets and to recirculate them into the distribution tube by means of an impeller fan.

  • Patent number: 5660101
Abstract: A rotatable cooking apparatus of five main parts: a fire box, a charcoal grill, a rotary transmission system, a cam mechanism, and a food basket. The food basket comprises two grills foldable on top of one another so that food can be secured between them. The charcoal grill is comprised of a wire framework and is attached above the cam mechanism by a support bracket so that the charcoal grill can be raised and lowered. The cam mechanism is attached to the fire box by a cam shaft coupled to the rotary transmission system of four gears connected by two linked chains attached to the food basket by a basket shaft that is connected to a crank shaft. The rotary transmission system is geared so that the charcoal grill can be raised when cooking food on one side of the food basket, lowered so the food basket can be rotated 180.degree., then raised again in order to cook both sides of the food in the basket at a distance closely adjacent to the heat source.

  • Patent number: 5588243
Abstract: A device for transmitting irregular jerking or darting motions to the end of a fishing line from a boat propelled by an oar including apparatus for securing a modified downrigger release clamp to a pulley line suspended between the end of a row boar oar and a bracket adjacent to the handle of the oar. An attachment at the end of the oar comprises two opposed clamping members with resilient pads on the inner faces thereof and an extension arm on one of them projecting outwardly and rearwardly from the end thereof. Apertures at the end of the extension arm have a pulley line therethrough and through a bracket secured adjacent the oar handle which has an outwardly extending end portion through which the pulley line is fixed. The line has crimps therein for holding a downrigger release clamp in place thereon. Through the action of the present apparatus a repetitive jerky line motion is imparted to the fishing line held by the downrigger release clamp.

  • Patent number: 5542183
Abstract: A fire fighter's tool for cutting through ceiling and wall panels which includes a base shaft within which telescoping expandable tubular sections are stored. The base shaft carries a power cord reel, counterbalance, and a control handle. A retractable power cord extends through the core of the extendable tubular sections to a motor mounted at the distal end of the outermost telescoping tubular section. The motor is encased within a waterproof enclosure and the shaft of the motor turns concentrically with the axis of the extendable tubular shafts. Gears and belt driving means connect the motor to a transverse shaft rotating a circular cutting blade on an axis perpendicular to the axis of the extendable tubes. The blade is provided with a pair of fan-like shields spring biased to substantially enclose the blade when it is not actively cutting, but which retract to expose the blade when slight pressure is applied thereto when the tool is in use.

  • Patent number: 5541579
Abstract: A personal alarm safety system warning device will sound an audible alarm when a firefighter is motionless for a predetermined time such as thirty seconds or one minute, and optionally, if the temperature rises beyond a certain level or if the temperature is increasing at a rate above a certain predetermined rate of increase. The alarm system is incorporated in the buckle of the firefighter's air breathing pack harness in such a manner that any time the firefighter buckles the belt for the harness the personal alarm safety system is moved from the Off condition to a armed Standby (On) position ready to set off the alarm when any of the predetermined conditions are met. The device may also be manually activated by the firefighter. In order to turn the device off, not only must the belt buckle be disengaged, a safety switch detent must be manipulated by the firefighter.

  • Patent number: 5497560
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the thickness of a slab structure in which a cylindrical bore has been made. The device comprising a cylindrical tube having opposed longitudinal oriented openings in the wall at the distal end of the cylinder. The cylinder having an indicia scale of length running longitudinally and visibly on the outer surface of the cylinder with the zero point starting at the inner end of the openings. The device having a shaft within the tube having a length greater than the length of the tube, a handle on the proximal end, and a pair of butterfly arms on the distal end of the shaft. The butterfly arms being biased in the outward direction so that when the arms are opposed to the openings in the tube they will extend outward through the openings to engage the outer surface of the slab with the tube extending through the bore in the slab so that the indicia can be read on the inside of the slab to determine the thickness of the slab.

  • Patent number: 5468035
Abstract: A grappling hanging device for attachment to an overhead beam has a primary hanging hook mounted in a frame plate. A rectangular bar extends laterally from the base of the primary hanging hook. The width of the plate is slightly less than a circular area of the keyhole aperture and its thickness slightly less than the spaced walls of the keyhole aperture of the support plate. The opposite end of the support plate has a latching loop extending therefrom. When the lifting force is lowered, the support plate will rotate about the bar in the circular part of the keyhole opening, thereby swinging the opposed latch around to loop over the end of the hook. Once about 180.degree. rotation has occurred, the cross plate will slide to the closed end of the keyhole slot, and lock the hanging mechanism in place.
