Abstract: A herbicidal composition comprising (I) 2-[1-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)ethyl sulfonyl]pyridine N-oxide and (II) 4-amino-6-tertiary butyl-3-(methylthio)1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)one, useful for control of grasses and broadleaf weeds.
Abstract: This invention provides a process for coating chopped strand of glass fiber with a thermosetting resin in an individually separated state which comprises dispersing chopped strand of glass fiber impregnated with a solution of thermosetting resin into an aqueous medium and then carrying out a removal of solvent. By this process, a pellet-formed glass fiber base material thickly coated with said thermosetting resin and free from filamentation and fuzzy of glass fiber can be obtained by a simple procedure.
Abstract: Oil resistant, ozone resistant polymer blends are prepared by blending an Acrylonitrile/Butadiene polymer with an EPDM polymer which has had grafted onto it a polymer prepared by polymerizing onto the backbone a methacrylate monomer. The preferred EPDM graft polymer is a methylmethacrylate grafted onto the EPDM backbone.
Abstract: A compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R and R.sup.1 together form a 1,3-butadien-1,4-diyl group optionally substituted with a methyl or chloro group and R.sup.2 is halogen is disclosed. The compound is useful as an intermediate in the synthesis of insecticidal organophosphorus compounds.

Abstract: Diphosphites having the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be the same or different and are C.sub.4 to C.sub.12 tertiary alkyl or C.sub.9 to C.sub.14 tertiary aralkyl;R.sup.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.18 alkyl or C.sub.7 to C.sub.18 aralkyl. These hydrolytically stable solid diphosphites are useful as antioxidants in organic polymers such as polypropylene.
Abstract: A neutralized sulfonated EPDM terpolymer is rendered amenable to adhesion utilizing typical foot sole primer/adhesive systems by incorporating into the sulfonated EPDM a syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene. The composition preferably includes process oils; inorganic fillers and preferential plasticizers for the neutralized sulfonated EPDM terpolymer.
Abstract: Heavy carbonaceous liquid having a melting point below 250.degree. C. is upgraded to lighter products by hydrogen donor solvent cracking, using recycled solvent derived at least in part from a middle distillate fraction of either the heavy carbonaceous liquid or from the cracked products which is subjected to one or more catalytic hydroprocessing steps before recycling.
Abstract: The ends of two sections of lined pipe (e.g. polyurethane lined steel pipe), in which the lining terminates a definite distance from each pipe end, are butted together, with an internal concentric sleeve spanning the unlined pipe ends and defining an annular hollow casting space at the area to be joined. The butted ends are then welded together at the joint. Thereafter a curable liquid polymer (e.g., liquid polyurethane composition) is introduced into the casting space through an opening in the unlined section of the pipe, and cured to a solid state in situ. The opening is then plugged.
Abstract: Selective herbicidal 2-(alpha-chloromethylsulfonyl) pyridine-1-oxides, e.g., 2-(alpha-phenyl-alpha-chloromethylsulfonyl) pyridine-1-oxide controls weed grasses without injury to such crops as cucumber.

The apparatus includes a moveable triangular shaped apparatus disposed at an elevation above the load carried. A cross member connected to two of the sides of the apparatus is in turn connected to load carrying members suspended downward from the carriage and connected to load to be moved. In a preferred embodiment, the load carrying apparatus is a vehicle cleaning apparatus. This apparatus includes said load carrying means suspended from the roof of a vehicle to be cleaned. A cleaning apparatus, provided with soaping, brushing, and rinsing means attached to said load carrying member of said load carrying means, is suspended along the side of the vehicle to be cleaned.
Abstract: A core extender and seal are provided which may be used in combination with cartridge filters. The core extender includes a body having first and second ends which are connected by longitudinal communication means through the core extender body. A radially extending shoulder extends from the body and is axially spaced from at least one end of the body, and preferably is a flange having on at least one lateral surface thereof an annular sealing ring. An external surface extends from at least one end to the radially extending shoulder. The portion of the body defined by an external surface may be inserted into the longitudinal bore of the filter cartridge in order to perform a sealing and connecting function between adjacent filters or a cartridge filter and the filter housing.
Abstract: A spray spinning nozzle for producing a substantially continuous filament from a molten synthetic resinous material includes a nozzle with a removable orifice from which a filament of molten material is emitted and a gas attenuation assembly which is laterally removable from the nozzle. The attenuation assembly includes at least three gas jets spaced about and radially close to the nozzle axis for emitting high velocity jets which converge upon and contact the filament at a point along the axis in front of the orifice. Drag forces produced by the gas jets attenuate the filament to a thin diameter.
