Abstract: An aqueous cleansing composition, which comprises:(a) a short-chain anionic surfactant chosen from C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 alkyl ether sulphates, C.sub.8 -C.sub.11 acyl lactylates, C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 acyl methyl taurates, C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 acyl isethionates, C.sub.6 -C.sub.11 fatty acid soaps, C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 alkyl sulphates, C.sub.6 -C.sub.11 acyl sarcosinates, C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 alkyl sulphosuccinates, C.sub.6 -C.sub.9 alkyl ether sulphosuccinates, or mixtures thereof;(b) a long-chain anionic surfactant chosen from C.sub.13 -C.sub.18 alkyl ether sulphates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.18 acyl lactylates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.16 acyl methyl taurates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.15 acyl isethionates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.16 alkyl sulphates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.16 acyl sarcosinates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.16 alkyl sulphosuccinates, C.sub.13 -C.sub.16 alkyl ether sulphosuccinates, or mixtures thereof;(c) optionally, a medium-chain anionic surfactant chosen from C.sub.10 -C.sub.12 alkyl ether sulphates, C.sub.12 acyl lactylates, C.sub.10 -C.sub.

Abstract: The invention provides hair styling compositions in cream, gel or aerosol mousse form comprising:(i) from 0.1% to 10% by weight, based on total weight, of a non-rigid emulsion polymerised cross-linked silicone polymer, in which the percentage of branched monomer units in the silicone polymer is from 0.05% to 10%; (ii) from 0.1% to 10% by weight, based on total weight, of a hair styling polymer; (iii) from 0.01% to 1% by weight, based on total weight, of a surfactant; (iv) water; and (v) from 0% to 30% by weight, based on total weight, of an aerosol propellant. The compositions impart an excellent balance of styling and conditioning properties to the hair.

Abstract: A fat continuous spread having less than 50% fat and containing less than 10% trans fatty acids is prepared by a process comprising the steps of selecting a structuring amount of interesterfied hardstock and combining the hardstock with the liquid oil to form a fat phase. The fat phase and an aqueous phase containing a gelling agent are introduced into a scrapped surface heat exchanger to form a cooled emulsion having an exit temperature of less than the temperature required to form a substantial amount of alpha crystals in the fat phase. The crystal containing emulsion is then passed into a crystallizing inverter unit which has a temperature no greater than about 4 to about 8.degree. C. of the temperature of the water continuous emulsion containing crystals.

Abstract: A suspension antiperspirant composition for topical application to the human skin comprising from 10 to 26% by weight of the composition of a solid particulate antiperspirant active suspended in a cosmetic base, wherein the antiperspirant active comprises a blend of an antiperspirant active with relatively small particles with a volume average particle size in the range of from 0.5 to 8 .mu.m and of an antiperspirant active with relatively large particles having a volume average particle size in the range of larger than 12 to smaller than 50 .mu.m, the weight ratio of the antiperspirant active having smaller particles to the antiperspirant active having larger particles in the composition is in the region of 5:1 to 1:5 by weight.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an aqueous hair dressing or hair styling composition which comprises from about 1.5 to about 5.0 weight % polyquaternium 37/propylene glycol dicaprylate dicaprate and ppg-1 trideceth-6, also known as polyquat 37, and also known as Salcare 96. The compositions of the invention have good hair styling and manageability properties without tackiness.

Abstract: An aqueous conditioning shampoo composition comprising, in addition to water:i) at least one surfactant chosen from anionic, nonionic, zwitterionic or amphoteric surfactants or mixtures thereof:ii) emulsified particles of an insoluble, nonvolatile silicone;iii) a soluble cationic hair conditioning polymer having a cationic charge density of about +3.0 meq/gram or less,in which the emulsified particles of insoluble, nonvolatile silicone are incorporated into the shampoo composition as a preformed aqueous emulsion having an average silicone particle size in the emulsion and in the shampoo composition of from 2 to 30 microns.

Abstract: There is described a shampoo composition for lightening and highlighting hair which comprises(i) a peroxygen compound; and(ii) an anionic sulfonate;said composition having a pH less than 5. There is also described an invention directed to a method for lightening and highlighting hair which comprises. shampooing the hair with a lightening and highlighting effective amount of a composition of the invention.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for thermal conditioning of hair which comprises:(a) applying to hair a rinse-off composition comprising:(1) a nonvolatile silicone conditioning agent; and(2) a carrier;(b) rinsing the composition from the hair with water;(c) applying heat via a heating appliance to the composition treated hair to dry or style the hair and wherein a reduction in the bending modulus caused by the silicone conditioning agent is at least 1.00%, and wherein the method of the invention results in the deposition on the hair of at least 30 ug silicone/1 g of hair.

Abstract: A FLUIDIZED fat composition is described which has an oil blend of 90-99.8 wt. % of an unhydrogenated liquid oil and 10-0.2 wt. % of a fully hydrogenated fat having an iodine value of less than 10 which forms a crystal network in the final composition. The composition optionally contains colors, flavorings, microcrystalline edible salt, essential oils, oleo and aqua resins, natural extractives in conjunction with herb and spices, cheeses and other seasonings, lecithin and antioxidants, starches, sugars, and other flavoring ingredients. It contains low saturated fatty acids and low to substantially no trans fatty acids.

Abstract: A sterile, packed food emulsion suitable for fully cooking a host food or adding to cooked food and for imparting a golden brown au gratin coating upon cooking, and including: water; 10-65 wt % edible fat; 0.05-10.00 wt % caseinate; and 0.1-10.0 wt % browning agent, which is chosen from a group consisting of carbohydrates, proteins and mixtures thereof; wherein the emulsion has a pH of at least 5.0 and further includes at least 0.5 ppm lysophospholipoprotein as an emulsifier.

Abstract: A substantially anhydrous underarm cream composition suitable for topical application to the human skin, comprising an antiperspirant and/or deodorant agent, a carrier, a silica structurant and an alkyl methicone wax having the general formula:(CH.sub.3).sub.3 Si--?O--Si(R)(CH.sub.3)!.sub.x --O--Si(CH.sub.3).sub.3wherein R is a branched or unbranched alkyl group containing from 12 to 26 carbon atoms, the ratio of branched to unbranched alkyl groups is approximately from 1:5 to 1:2 and x ranges from 30 to 150.
