  • Patent number: 5165769
Abstract: A wardrobe casement includes a generally rectangular hollow wooden casing having on a front side an opening into the interior thereof. A stack of drawers are mounted in the casing interior. A shelf is mounted above the stack of drawers and has two recessed, generally convex bowls therein adapted for receiving various articles of personal wardrobe therein. First and a second compartments, on opposite sides of the stack of drawers, have therein an extensible, horizontally extending rod adapted to receive hanging wardrobe articles as belts and ties thereon. A generally rectangular first mirror is mounted above the shelf in the casing interior. A door is hingedly mounted on the casing. A second mirror is mounted on the outer surface of the door and covers substantially all of the outer surface of the door.

  • Patent number: 5164843
Abstract: A scanner system includes a light source for producing a light beam and scanning components for directing the light beam to a spot on a surface to be scanned that is located at a predetermined location relative to the scanning means, moving the spot across the surface along a scan line of predetermined length in a series of scan cycles. The system includes a pixel clock that produces a train of clock pulses during each of the scan cycles using a VCO circuit for producing the train of clock pulses and a control circuit for varying the timing of the clock pulses. The control circuit includes an waveshaping circuit for causing the control signal to have a waveform such that the timing of the clock pulses varies according to the position of the spot along the scan line in order to compensate for scanner non-linearity in a manner reducing pixel position distortion.

  • Patent number: 5117243
Abstract: A scanner system includes a light source and scanning components for moving a spot of light across a surface along a scan line of predetermined length. An electronic control system is included for controlling the light beam in order to produce a plurality of pixels on the surface along the scan line. It is configured to control the position and exposure of each of the pixels in order to compensate for pixel position distortion and pixel exposure distortion caused by variations in spot velocity. Preferably, the control system produces a digital scan clock signal or other control signal that defines a pixel interval and an exposure interval for each of a plurality of desired pixel positions along the scan line according to stored pixel interval and exposure interval data.

  • Patent number: 5071478
Abstract: A coating composition suitable for application to a substrate for curing thereon to form a fire-retardant coating, comprising in combination an aqueous emulsion containing a mixture of sulfate of ammonia, hydrate alumina and zinc borate. The dry weight of the mixture is in the range between 35 to 45 parts to one hundred parts of the composition. The dry weight ratio of sulfate of ammonia to hydrated alumina in the mixture is not less than 4.5 to 1. The dry weight ratio of hydrated alumina to zinc borate in the mixture is about equal.

  • Patent number: 5052311
Abstract: A zero-clearance firebox with a much simplified construction enables efficient air exchange directly through one opening in which solid combustible materials are placed. The firebox has a metal inner shell and an outer shell of lighter gage metal incorporating a plurality of insulating materials in proximity with the outer and inner shells, including a ceramic blanket, rigid insulation, dead air space, and refractory brick. The firebox can be configured into a rectangle, a wedge or a semicircle for placement into a corner or along a wall of a room. The firebox can easily be adapted for use with liquid fuels such as natural gas, propane, etc. Finishing materials can be attached to the firebox to give the appearance of masonry or adobe.

  • Patent number: 4998268
Abstract: In combination with a diagnostic CT scanner using radiant energy for imaging, an apparatus for therapeutically irradiating a target, comprising a mask that partially attenuates the radiant energy passing therethrough, but transmits through an aperture sufficient radiant energy for imaging. The mask, intermediate the radiant energy source and the target, passes an unattenuated portion of the radiant energy to irradiate the target. The cross-sectional shape and spatial position of the mask aperture can be selectively varied. A post-mask is aligned with the mask aperture and attenuates the radiant energy passing therethrough to an energy level essentially uniform with that of the radiant energy passing through the mask to permit continued imaging during therapeutic irradiation of the target. A method of using the invention in combination with a diagnostic CT scanner using radiant energy for imaging is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4991941
Abstract: A field sequential color shutter display system including a light source emitting light rays having substantially first and second different primary colors. First and second light polarizing filters are included. The filters are aligned in optical communication with the source. Each filter includes a color selective polarizing filter having substantially orthogonally oriented absorption axes. The first absorption axis of each light polarizing filter passes linearly polarized light of the first color and a uniform first polarization. The second absorption axis of each light polarizing filter passes linearly polarized light of both the first and second colors and a uniform second polarization. Variable optical retarding filters are disposed between the first and second light polarizing filters.

  • Patent number: 4964769
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a desired balanced vertical jaw closure in a human mouth. First and second platform members, each capable of being respectively mounted in a fixed, known relation on the upper and lower jaws in spaced, vertically aligned juxtaposition are provided. A closed-air cell spacer member is connected between the platform members for providing an adjustable isometric pressure resistance against vertical closure of the jaws. A selectively movable piston action pin member is also connected between the platform members for selectively controlling the rest-close vertical relationship desired between the mounted platform members to protect against overclosure and damage to the ear canal and blood circulation to the cranium.
