Patent number: 5392990Abstract: A double-nozzle deluge gun has a pair of nozzles arranged side by side rotatably on a rotatable table and an inter-nozzle control unit for adjusting the inter-nozzle angle measured between two lines obtained by projecting the radiation center lines of the nozzles onto a horizontal plane. Each nozzle has a deflector which is positioned in front of the nozzle during the very short range mode. Each deflector has a side cover which prevents water having passed through the deflector from excessively spreading sideways. The inter-nozzle angle and the water pressure are adjusted in accordance with desired water-reaching ranges, so as to achieve an optimal watering pattern in any range. Thus, the double-nozzle deluge gun can be controlled in accordance with desired water-reaching ranges, so as to achieve an optimal watering pattern having an appropriate width in any range.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1994Date of Patent: February 28, 1995Assignee: Hochiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Teruo Iwata, Toshihide Tsuji, Shuji Matsumoto, Katsuaki Tonomura

Patent number: 5349378Abstract: A method and apparatus for fusion of three dimensional data due to an active optical triangulation based vision sensor, and two-dimensional data obtained from an independent TV camera. The two sensors are aligned so that their view volumes are partially overlapped. In the course of a calibration process, a planar target is placed and depressed through the common view volume of the two sensors. The illuminant of vision sensor projects a stripe onto the target. As the stripe is traversed across the target incrementally, it is imaged at every position not only by the camera of the vision sensor, but also by the independent TV camera. The calibration process yields a table which connects the resolution cells of the TV camera to a set of rays whose equations are established in the coordinate measurement system of the three dimensional vision sensor. The calibration table is subsequently used to inter-relate points in either sensory space via their connecting rays.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1992Date of Patent: September 20, 1994Assignee: Robotic Vision Systems, Inc.Inventor: Fereydoun Maali

Patent number: 5346533Abstract: A method of monitoring filter components. The components are hollow and employed for filtering hot and dusty gases. They are accommodated in groups in a housing. Each group communicates through a single supply line with a filtered-gas line. The filtered-gas line conveys the filtered gas away. A sweeper is injected in the form of a gas into each supply line in cycles at higher pressure. The sweeping cycle is recorded. Measurement is carried out in the flow of sweeper and/or of filtered gas. The result of the measurement is compared with the record and an alarm released in the event of a discrepancy.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: Deutsche Babcock Energie- und Umwelttechnik AktiengesellschaftInventors: Werner Jelich, Heiko Rehwinkel, Friedrich Klauke, Dieter Konig, Udo Kalthoff

Patent number: 5346055Abstract: Machinery for discontinuously forwarding material or work past or through discontinuously operating tools, presses for example. Two separated work-holder bars parallel the forwarding stream. The bars move upstream and downstream together subject to a cam. The cam rotates around an axis paralleling the stream. The motion of the cam is transmitted to the bars by a follower and by a transmission. The transmission engages guides that guide the bars. The bars are accordingly discontinuously shifted in at least one direction essentially cross-stream. The follower is mounted on a rocker. The rocker pivots around a pivot secured stationary to the machinery above and more or less paralleling the axis of the cam. The follower is forced by a spring against the circumference of the cam. The transmission is a linkage including a reversing lever. A thruster is articulated to the rocker at a point remote from the pivot. The thruster pivots the reversing lever around another pivot.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Inventor: Gunter Zierpka

Patent number: 5347507Abstract: A consumer electronics apparatus, such as a compact disk player installed and operated in a vehicle, includes resilient elements whose attenuation properties prevent shock and vibrations from being transmitted from a base or housing to a chassis or drive mechanism. The resonance frequency is made adjustable while the housing is closed, by adding or removing supplemental resilient elements. Alternatively, the resilience of individual resilient elements may be adjusted by way of a screw. These adjustments vary an effective resulting isolation resilience and thereby optimize reliability of the components. In another embodiment, a system of permanent magnets or electromagnets may be used together with the main resilient elements.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1992Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: Deutsche Thomson-Brandt GmbHInventor: Hans R. Patent number: 5338326Abstract: A device for monitoring the hollow filter components employed to filter hot and dusty gases. The components are grouped inside a filter housing (1). The components communicate through supply lines (9) with collectors ( 10). The collectors convey the filtered gas away. The line supplying each group accommodates a lance (15). The lance injects a fluid for sweeping the components clean. A transducer (16) downstream of the filter components detects the pressure of the filtered gas in the line. A change in pressure reveals a malfunction.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1993Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: Deutsche Babcock Energie- und Umwelttechnik AGInventors: Werner Jelich, Heiko Rehwinkel, Friedrich Klauke, Dieter Konig, Udo Kalthoff
