  • Patent number: 6132185
Abstract: In a feed pump (2) designed as a peripheral or side channel pump, guide vanes (9, 11, 12) arranged in an impeller (4) have a different angle of inclination in the radially inner region from the radially outer region. As a result, the characteristic curve of the feed pump (2) can be modified simply by exchanging the impeller (4). By virtue of the invention, the feed pump (2), whilst having an intended feed pressure and volume flow, can be set to particularly high efficiency, depending on the viscosity of the liquid to be fed.

  • Patent number: 6125775
Abstract: A system for ensuring the uniform height of gauge wheels for a towed implement assembly such as a seeder. The seeder has a frame structure with a series of front gauge wheels suspended by the front of the frame structure. A greater number of rear wheels are suspended by the frame structure to the rear of the front gauge wheel. A tow hitch is pivotally connected from the front of the frame structure for coupling to a work vehicle. A front bar having a first end and a second end is coupled to the tow hitch. A center actuator such as a hydraulic cylinder is coupled to one end of the front bar. A rear bar is placed in contact with the opposite end of the hydraulic cylinder. The front gauge wheels are raised by extending the cylinder and causing force to be applied to the front and rear bars. In this manner, the weight on the front wheels is distributed to the work vehicle via the tow hitch and the rear wheels.

  • Patent number: 6126130
Abstract: A device for bracing two components has a spring ring (10) which is designed to be corrugated in each case in the radial and the axial direction. The spring ring (10) can be compressed axially or radially, without, in each case, losing its spring effect in the other direction. It is particularly advantageous for the spring ring (10) to be used for bracing a fuel pump (4) of an automobile in a feed unit (1).

  • Patent number: 6123011
Abstract: A system for storing and dispensing popcorn comprising a popcorn popping apparatus and a bin for containing popcorn. The bin is removably positionable in the popcorn popping apparatus so that the popcorn that is popped can drop through an aperture in the popping apparatus into the bin. The bin itself is mobile, thereby enabling an operator to transport the bin from the popping apparatus to a receiving station or vice-versa. The popcorn in the bin can be dispensed directly therefrom or stored for later use. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the bin also contains a warming system that keeps the popcorn in the bin warm, fresh and crisp. The warming system is provided with power when it is placed in either the popping apparatus or the receiving station via electrical connectors located on the bin, popping apparatus and receiving station.

  • Patent number: 6116172
Abstract: A shank-mounted opener assembly connected to a seed distribution system is provided for both till and no-till operations. The opener assembly includes a spike member that is supported on the shank, a firming point, a seed sensor connected to the seed supply, a seed boot, a seed locking mechanism, and a multi media delivery tube assembly. The seed boot encloses the seed sensor and includes a pair of lateral side walls. The seed boot protects the seed sensor from moving soil and debris. The seed locking mechanism pushes the seed into the soil and forms a shallow layer of soil over the seed dispensed through the seed sensor. If desired, assistive media can be dispensed into the furrow at the same time as seeding. The assistive media are dispensed through the multi-media delivery tube assembly. The assistive media are not dispensed to the furrow until after the seed locking mechanism covers the seed with a shallow layer of soil.

  • Patent number: 6113528
Abstract: A needle manipulation ruler for use in brachytherapy allowing a needle containing radioactive material to be manipulated without exposing the surgeon to radioactivity. A plurality of needle engagers are contained on the needle manipulation ruler. These needle engagers can be indentations in the needle manipulation ruler or protuberances on the needle manipulation ruler. A needle can be engaged with the needle engagers by either inserting the needle into the indentations or pressuring the needle against the protuberances. The engaged needle can be adjusted in any direction from any angle that the needle manipulation ruler is held relative to the needle.

  • Patent number: 6113354
Abstract: In a fuel delivery device for a motor vehicle a delivery pump (15) is provided in addition to a fuel pump (14). The delivery pump (15) serves to fill a surge baffle (5) and to drive a sucking jet pump (6). The fuel pump (14) draws in fuel from the surge baffle (5) and delivers it to an internal combustion engine (2). For this purpose, the fuel pump (14) is arranged in a feed line (3) in the vicinity of the internal combustion engine (2). A return line (4) leads from the internal combustion engine into the surge baffle (5).

  • Patent number: 6111521
Abstract: An apparatus for supplying traffic-related information in a vehicle receives a message concerning a traffic-related event, for instance a traffic queue. This message contains information about the location of the traffic-related event. The apparatus calculates the time and/or distance interval between the location of the event and the current position of the vehicle and gives an alarm if the time and/or distance interval is smaller than a predetermined time and/or distance interval.

  • Patent number: 6110129
Abstract: The present invention includes a biopsy needle for use in a biopsy gun or as surgical instrument, capable of taking multiple samples, and a guiding needle holder for holding a biopsy needle. The biopsy needle includes an inner needle, also called a stylet, and an outer needle, also called a cannula, and a guiding needle holder. The stylet has a recess in the vicinity of its distal end which receives the tissue sample. The guiding needle holder includes an integrated spacer, and first and second connecting elements. The first connecting element holds the proximal end of the cannula and is displaceably attached along the length of the integrated spacer. The second connecting element holds the proximal end of the stylet and is fixedly attached to the distal end of the integrated spacer. The connecting elements each have an opening that facilitates insertion of the biopsy needle into a known biopsy gun in either the cocked or uncocked position.

  • Patent number: 6105437
Abstract: The pressure transducer comprises a pressure connection (2) and a tube-shaped housing (22) that is securely attached at its lower end section (24) to the pressure connection. Arranged in the interior of the housing (22) are a pressure sensor (6) carried by the pressure connection (2) and a circuit arrangement (8). An interface module (18) is attached at the upper end section (26) of the housing (22), the connection between the interface module (18) and the upper end section (26) being effected by means of a locking ring (32) that is locked to the housing (22) and that is either integral with the interface module (18) or that carries a union nut (46) that secures the interface module (18) to the locking ring (32). During manufacture of the pressure transformer, the housing (22) is attached to the pressure connection (2) before the interface module (18) is brought into electrical contact with the circuit arrangement (8) and before it is connected mechanically to the housing (22).

  • Patent number: 6082150
Abstract: Method and system of rejuvenating pressurized fluid solvents used for cleaning a substrate in a pressurized vessel. A primary flow of the pressurized fluid solvent is continuously cycled from the pressurized vessel through a series of filters to remove insoluble and soluble contaminants, and then returned to the pressurized vessel. A secondary flow of the pressurized fluid solvent, preferably equivalent to less than about 40% of the primary flow, is directed either continuously or intermittently during the cleaning operation to an evaporator to evaporate the pressurized fluid solvent of the secondary flow into a vapor and to separate contaminants therefrom. The vapor from the evaporator is then either liquified by a compressor or condenser to create rejuvenated pressurized fluid solvent and redirected to the pressurized vessel for further use, or vented to atmosphere and replaced by new pressurized fluid solvent from a supply tank.
