  • Patent number: 7133384
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of supporting proper hand-off of a dual-mode mobile terminal based on terminal capability and communication status to guarantee continuous mobility in a mixed communication network where a synchronous and an asynchronous network system coexist. According to the present invention, a dual-mode terminal transmits information of its terminal capability operable in both the synchronous and the asynchronous network system to the mixed communication network, irrespective of which network system a present service area belongs to, then the mixed communication network constructs information on adjacent cells, which are selectively included based on the received terminal capability information, of the other network system and provides the dual-mode terminal with the constructed adjacent cell information.

  • Patent number: 7116863
Abstract: Provided is a wavelength tunable optical filter of a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS). The wavelength tunable optical filter comprises two optical fibers or optical waveguides having their optical axes aligned to each other, two lens for collimating light at leading ends of the optical fibers or optical waveguides, two or more mirrors formed on a substrate, thermal actuators supporting at least one of the mirrors, wherein one of the mirrors is actuated by thermal expansion of the actuator. Because all mirrors are formed on a substrate, a manufacturing process is simple and an initial resonance wavelength can be precisely adjusted. Since the thermal expansion is generated by the electrical current directly flowing through the thermal actuators, it can be actuated by a low consumption power. Also, since an electrostatic force is not used to move the mirrors, a sticking phenomenon between the mirrors does not occur, and the wavelength can be tunable in a wide range.

  • Patent number: 7106650
Abstract: Disclosed is a semiconductor memory device. In the process for the memory cell to reading stored data by selecting specific word lines, word lines neighboring the selected word line are selected at the same time, or the two bit lines are connected at the same time to the input terminals of the sense amplifiers, thus increasing the difference in voltage between both the input terminals of the sense amplifiers. Therefore, the read margin is increased, the exactness of the read operation is increased, and reliability of the device is improved.

  • Patent number: 7106342
Abstract: A method of controlling brightness of a user-selected area on a monitor screen is disclosed. First, a starting point of a topmost line of a displayed image is determined as a new reference point. Then a line pattern being included in one of image lines of the displayed image is detected. The pattern includes an indicator whose ends are horizontally aligned with vertical edges of the user-selected area. Next, horizontal distances of the vertical edges with respect to the reference point, and a highlight area is identified using the measured horizontal distances. Finally, a brightness gain of the identified highlight area is amplified.
