Abstract: A portable system for transferring liquids, such as diesel fuel, from a first tank, such as a railcar, to a second tank, such as on a transport truck. The system is self-contained and comprises a pump driven by an engine fueled by the liquid being transferred. A meter measures the amount of liquid being transferred. An inlet hose is used to connect the system to the railcar, and an outlet hose is used to connect the system to the transport truck. Air from the truck may be used to blow any liquid out of the outlet hose after a transferring operation.

Abstract: In accordance with a method of this invention, formation integrity problems are discovered, diagnosed and corrected in successively drilled subterranean well bore intervals. If one or more of well bore fluid outflows, formation fluid inflows or inadequate well bore pressure containment integrity are discovered in a drilled well bore interval, well logs are run and other relevant well bore data is collected in the drilled well bore interval and analyzed to provide a specific treatment using a specific pumpable sealing composition for sealing and increasing the pressure containment integrity of the well bore. Thereafter, the sealing composition is pumped into the drilled well bore interval whereby the well bore interval is sealed or the pressure containment integrity is increased, or both.

Abstract: A modular structure construction and repair system for use in new bridge construction and old bridge repair. The invention comprises a plurality of prefabricated modules which have a plurality of longitudinally extending beams and deck portions molded thereto. The modules are positioned over a plurality of girders so that longitudinal joints are formed above the girder. In the repair of an old bridge, an old section of the bridge deck is removed, and the modules are positioned on the existing girders. The modules are attached to the girders such that a shear connection is provided therebetween. Precompression may also be applied to clamp the sides of adjacent deck portions together. Various embodiments disclose this precompression and the shear connections.
Abstract: A cement composition is basically comprised of a hydraulic cement, water in an amount sufficient to form a pumpable slurry and a fluid loss control polymer additive comprised of 69 weight % of the calcium salt of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid, 14 weight % of the calcium salt of maleic acid, 14 weight % of N-vinyl caprolactam and 3 weight % of 4-hydroxybutyl vinyl ether.
Abstract: Well completion foamed spacer fluids and methods of using the foamed spacer fluids are provided. A method of the invention for displacing a first fluid from a well bore with an incompatible second fluid comprises the following steps. A foamed spacer fluid is placed between the first and second fluids to separate the first and second fluids and to remove the first fluid from the walls of the well bore. Thereafter, the first fluid and the foamed spacer fluid are displaced from the well bore with the second fluid.

Abstract: A process for increasing the bulk density of an aerated powder is provided. The powder is placed in a container. The container is then closed and the gas pressure within the container is increased to a level above atmospheric pressure and at a rate sufficient to cause the powder to compact before a substantial portion of said pressurization gas diffuses into said powder. In one embodiment, the process is utilized to increase the bulk density of an aerated, free-flowing titanium dioxide pigment. Apparatus for carrying out the process is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides improved processes and apparatus for reacting high flow rates of one or more gaseous reactants in tubular reactors. The improved processes and apparatus allow such reactions to be carried out with a low pressure drop across the reactor and without excessive erosion due to solid particles carried with or picked up by the gaseous reactants. A process of this invention is basically comprised of the steps of swirling a gaseous reactant which may contain or pick up solid particles in a first annular plenum chamber followed by a second larger diameter annular plenum chamber and then introducing the gaseous reactant and solid particles into a reactor by way of two or more radial slots whereby said gaseous reactant and solid particles are caused to flow into said reactor and are uniformly distributed therein.
Abstract: Methods of consolidating unconsolidated weak zones or formations and forming chemical casings include drilling a well bore with a drilling fluid having a pH in the range of from about 6 to 10 and that comprises water, a polymeric cationic catalyst which is adsorbed on the mineral surfaces in the weak zone, a particulate curable solid thermoset resin and a delay acid catalyst for curing the solid resin, and forming a filter cake on the walls of the well bore. The filter cake is then contacted with a treating fluid comprising a water soluble or water dispersible polymer which is capable of being cross-linked by a thermoset resin and causing the resin to be hard and tough when cured, and a water soluble or dispersible thermoset resin, whereby the treating fluid components deposit on the filter cake and the thermoset resin cures into a hard and tough cross-linked chemical casing thereon.
