  • Patent number: 4768503
Abstract: A polymeric composition is disclosed which has sealant and preferably also adhesive properties and which is suitable for use as a protective dressing for application to the skin. The composition comprises a chemically cross-linked hydrophilic polymer and a support matrix such as a high molecular weight hydrophobic polymer. The hydrophilic polymer is a water-swellable polymer which absorbs or adsorbs water but which is water-insoluble. The composition preferably includes a tackifyer which may be provided by a low molecular weight fraction of a hydrophobic matrix or by a distinct adhesive component such as a gum or a low molecular weight polymer. The composition is particularly suitable for use as a sealing ring in conjunction with a post-surgical drainage appliance wherein the hydrophilic polymer is incorporated in a form such as to provide a transmission system for liquid.

  • Patent number: 4767135
Abstract: In connection with a screw-type connection made of a plastic material for leading in, leading through, sealing and strain-relieving cables, lines, or the like, comprising an intermediate connecting piece with sealing body and a cap nut, the hollow cylindrical intermediate connecting piece carrying coaxially arranged clamping tongues which press the sealing body against the fitted cable when the cap nut is turned, it is proposed that the cap nut or the intermediate connecting piece be provided with catches arranged preferably in uniform distribution over the circumference and projecting towards the other part so that a preliminary fixing effect can be achieved between the cap nut and the intermediate connecting piece by mere exertion of pressure. The catches form in this case sort of an elastic preliminary thread, and the cap nut can be screwed on further immediately from its pre-assembled position.

  • Patent number: 4765469
Abstract: In a multisectional storage container, especially a storage box for the storage of plate- or disk-shaped items, such as compact disks or diskettes, for example, it is proposed that individual storage sleeves be interconnected one with the other in an articulated manner by means of interconnecting means in such a manner that the sequence of sleeves can be opened in the nature of a parallelogram mechanism or in an accordian-like manner, thus enabling all of the items that are contained therein to immediately be visually inspected and identified and/or manually removed. By subsequently collapsing the individual storage sleeves of the storage box, it is possible to house them in a minimum of space, without any clearance one between the other, and, if desired, to store them in a dust-tight manner by means of an enveloping enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4758706
Abstract: A machine for forming parallel corrugations in a metal sheet and for welding each of these corrugations at its longitudinal end, comprises, on the metal sheet side, a bending die comprising two plates perpendicular to the metal sheet defining therebetween a space in which may be engaged a punch or knife perpendicular to the metal sheet. The bending die has, at each of its two lateral ends and on the internal faces opposite its parallel plates, a pair of bending members projecting from the internal faces of the two parallel plates of the die. These two bending members define therebetween a gap substantially equal to twice the thickness of the metal sheet. A welding torch is carried by the bending die and ensures welding of the two lips of the metal sheet in the immediate vicinity of the zone where they are nipped between the bending members.

  • Patent number: 4758742
Abstract: A pulse generator employs a Wiegand wire module within two soft iron ferro-magnetic elements. Four magnets having appropriate polarities are positioned on faces of the ferro-magnetic elements to provide first and second magnetic circuits. The flux in these two magnetic circuits is collected, conducted and guided by the ferro-magnetic elements toward an air gap between the two guide elements. The center portion of the Wiegand wire is at the air gap. Cylindrical cavities in these two guide elements shield the ends of the Wiegand wire to minimize the incidence of external flux from the Wiegand wire. Saturation of the flux at the air gap between the two guide elements causes leakage flux to be incident on the Wiegand wire. The two magnetic circuits created by the magnets are approximately equal in magnitude and opposite in direction at the Wiegand wire. As a consequence, in the normal state, these two magnetic circuits do not affect the state of the Wiegand wire.
