  • Patent number: 5716072
Abstract: An airbag gas generator has a housing within which a solid gas generating composition is located. The housing has an opening through which a gas formed during fuel combustion exits the housing. A gas distribution cap is fitted to an outlet end of the housing, the cap having a projecting lip at a forward end thereof. The housing has a corresponding recess in the outlet end for accepting the lip therein. The cap further has a plurality of longitudinal slots through which the gas is distributed, the slots defining flexible wall segments which deform during insertion of the cap into the outlet end prior to engagement of the lip with the recess for locking the cap to the housing. Utilizing the present invention, threaded or welded joints are avoided and a light weight, low cost assembly is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5714267
Abstract: Thermal stress at a point portion of a seed crystal generated when the seed crystal is brought into contact with molten silicon liquid is relieved, thereby to prevent generation of dislocation, to curtail the time of a seed contraction process and to surely support a heavy weight single crystal. A seed crystal of a silicon single crystal used when the single crystal is grown from molten silicon liquid by a Czochralski method is formed to show the heat emissivity of 0.5 or higher and lower than 1.0 at the point portion of the seed crystal. The point portion of the seed crystal is either a part or the whole of the portion that makes contact with the molten silicon liquid or a portion that makes contact with the molten silicon liquid and a portion that makes no contact with the molten silicon liquid in the vicinity of that portion. It is desirable to form at least 16 lines per 1 cm.sup.2 of fine grooves each having a width of 0.3 to 1.

  • Patent number: 5711233
Abstract: The arrangement for treating combustion residues of a combustion installation comprises an ash discharger into which opens a fall shaft, into which the solid combustion residues fall from a furnace grate. The ash is conveyed from the ash discharger into the discharge shaft via a diagonally ascending push-out chute by a push-out ram whose operating rate is so adjusted that the ash is piled up in the fall shaft in a tower formation reaching above the liquid level. Fresh water or a chemical is introduced into the discharge shaft via an inlet. The ash discharger water present in the ash discharger and charged with fine particles is drained into a hermetically sealed settling tank via a draw-off duct. Ash discharger water, with which a chemical can be mixed via another line, is fed from the upper region of the settling tank by a pump via a return line to spray nozzles which are arranged in the upper region of the fall shaft.

  • Patent number: 5711333
Abstract: The umbrella frame is provided with a movable yoke at the upper end and a stationary yoke at an intermediate point. Ribs are pivotally mounted on the movable yoke and struts are pivotally mounted on the fixed yoke while being pivotally mounted to intermediate points on the ribs. A downward movement of the upper yoke causes the ribs to splay outwardly so as to open the umbrella. A crank mechanism is connected to the upper yoke via a cord so that upon cranking of the crank mechanism in one direction, the upper yoke is pulled downwardly to open the umbrella. A clutch assembly is also provided in the crank assembly to lock the crank assembly against the weight of the ribs and cover while allowing a reverse rotation of the crank mechanism under a manually applied force to permit the umbrella to close under the weight of the ribs and cover.

  • Patent number: 5709801
Abstract: Pullulan is precipitated from an aqueous solution by mixing with a hydrophilic organic solvent incapable of dissolving pullulan. Solid pullulan is then separated from the liquid component of the dispersion by feeding the dispersion into a V-type disk press having a pair of discoid screens arranged so that the distance between them decreases as they are rotated. The pullulan dispersion is pressed by the discoid screens, recovering the liquid component through the screens. The resulting low-liquid-content pullulan continues to rotate together with the screens to an outlet, where it is discharged from the press.
