  • Patent number: 8311921
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for dynamic order management. A user can specify at an order originator system an underlyer price, a pricing model, and, in accordance with the pricing model, a desired derivative price and/or desired implied volatility in the form of one or more threshold conditions at which the user desires a trade to be executed. An order executor system receives the dynamic order and a data feed having a data feed underlyer price, and, if in accordance with the pricing model, the threshold condition(s) are satisfied at the data feed underlyer price, the dynamic order is identified as being executable.

  • Patent number: 8309536
Abstract: A bone implant comprises an active agent on at least a portion thereof. The active agent is locally deliverable to bone proximate the implant in at least a two-phased release scheme. A first phase rapidly releases a first quantity of the active agent, and at least a second phase gradually releases a second quantity of the active agent, whereby bone formation stimulated by the active agent is modulated. In one embodiment, a porous implant comprises a porous portion coated with a calcium phosphate compound and which is contacted with a bisphosphonate compound to form a bisphosphonate layer chemically bound to the calcium phosphate at the surface of the porous portion and to form bisphosphonate molecules being non-chemically attached inside the pores of the porous portion. The non-chemically attached bisphosphonate molecules are released in the subject at a rate greater than that of the chemically bound bisphosphonate layer.

  • Patent number: 8303903
Abstract: A production amount and a yield in a carbon nanotube producing device are improved. Inside a reaction pipe (20) heated so as to become a circumference heating body, a plurality of nozzles (26) for injecting a material and carrier gas into the reactor pipe and at least one internal heating source (24) are arranged. By arranging a plurality of the nozzles, the production amount is increased. The nozzles are arranged so as to be sandwiched by two heating sources (circumference heating element, internal heating source) and a distance to the closest two heating source peripheral walls is “a”. Also, a distance between the adjacent nozzles is “b” (?2a). Flows of the material and the carrier gas injected by the nozzles do not interfere with each other or the heating source wall, and the yield is increased.

  • Patent number: 8306166
Abstract: A system and method for detecting burst noise during quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) communications are provided. A QAM signal is acquired at a receiver in communication with a network. The QAM signal is demodulated at the receiver to identify a plurality of symbols. Amplitudes for each of the plurality of symbols are determined, and are compared to a predetermined threshold. For each amplitude that is greater than the predetermined threshold, information is recorded at the receiver relating to a burst noise event. The magnitude of the burst noise can be determined by measuring a difference between a received constellation point and a perimeter constellation point closest to the received constellation point. The information about the burst noise event can be transmitted to an error correction module for reducing future burst noise in the network. Equalizer coefficients and tracking loop performance can be adjusted/enhanced using the burst noise information.
