Abstract: The present invention includes a process using environmentally friendly materials for the removal of adhesive residues from hard substrates, particularly vehicles, e.g., cars, trucks, buses, aerospace vehicles including airplanes, and the like. The process uses a novel adhesive remover composition comprising one or more non-halogenated organic solvents, a non-abrasive thickening agent, a surfactant, and a vapor-pressure modulating agent. The total Hansen Solubility Parameter (?t) at 25° C. for each of the non-halogenated organic solvents is from about 14 MPa1/2 to about 24 MPa1/2. The invention provides a cost effective, safe, environmentally friendly adhesive remover composition specifically formulated for removal of, e.g., pressure sensitive adhesive residues from large areas of aircraft composite and aluminum surfaces, as well as others.

The ternary crystals further exhibit a piezoelectric coefficient, d33, in the range of at least about 1200-2000 pC/N.
Abstract: A compositionally graded gas turbine disk is made by preparing a rotationally symmetric radially inner segment of a gas turbine disk preform, rotating the inner segment about a central axis, spray applying a radially outer-segment material onto the radially inner segment as it rotates about the central axis, preferably achieving a gradual transition in composition, and thereafter further processing the gas turbine disk preform to produce the compositionally graded gas turbine disk.

Abstract: A tangentially poled piezoelectric single crystal ring resonator is disclosed. A single crystal material is machined into elements and formed into a ring structure. The single crystal elements have a <110> poled tangential axis. The elements may also have a <211>, <511> or <322> orientation range in the radial direction. The elements may have a generally wedge shape.
Abstract: The integral layer provides a ductile interface for attachment locations of a turbine engine component where a metallic surface is adjacent the attachment location. The ductile layer provides a favorable load distribution through the composite at the attachment location, and eliminates the need for a metallic shim.

Abstract: A system and method for stabilizing vertically stacked sheet material is disclosed. The sheet material may be construction wallboard. The system includes a bracket and an elongate flexible link element. The method includes attaching the bracket to the sheet material, attaching the flexible link element to a support structure such as vertical stud framing member, and attaching the flexible link element to the bracket to stabilize the vertically stacked sheet material.
Abstract: A glass fiber and a method of manufacturing a glass fiber for reinforcing a transparent composite matrix are disclosed. The glass fiber includes a first glass material having a first set of mechanical properties including a first modulus and a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and a second glass material having a second set of mechanical properties including a second modulus and a second CTE. The second glass material forms a substantially uniform coating on the first glass material. The second CTE is less than the first CTE. The glass fiber is formed by reducing the cross-section of a glass fiber preform of the first glass material coated with the second glass material by hot working. Because of the selected difference in the CTE's, the first glass material imparts a compressive force upon the second glass material, which improves the strength of the glass fiber.

Abstract: The present invention is related to data storage and transmission. Data is compressed and stored by a controller computer instead of having a client computer gather, compress and store the data. This allows for data to be retrieved from the data stores and displayed for user retrieval, even when communication failures have occurred.
Abstract: Systems and methods for improved Variable Speed Drives are provided. One embodiment relates to apparatus for common mode and differential mode filtering for motor or compressor bearing protection when operating with Variable Speed Drives, including conducted EMI/RFI input power mains mitigation. Another embodiment relates to a method to extend the synchronous operation of an Active Converter to the AC mains voltage during complete line dropout. Another embodiment relates to an Active Converter-based Variable Speed Drive system with Improved Full Speed Efficiency. Another embodiment relates to a liquid- or refrigerant-cooled inductor. The liquid- or refrigerant-cooled inductor may be used in any application where liquid or refrigerant cooling is available and a reduction in size and weight of a magnetic component is desired.

Abstract: A versatile modular connector and a conduit system which is easily used and installed by electricians and non-electricians in the field are described. The components, such as the junction box, outlet boxes and bridge cables can be prewired and easily added to the system by using the quick connect connectors to allow for a stable and sealed system.
Abstract: A corrosion resistant coating system having a first coating and a second coating. The first coating includes a matrix and corrosion resistant particles. The matrix is preferably a matrix material selected from the group consisting of silica, silicone, phosphate, chromate, and combinations thereof. The corrosion resistant particles are uniformly distributed within the matrix and provide the coating a predetermined coefficient of thermal expansion. The particles provide the first coating with corrosion resistance. The second coating is disposed on at least a portion of the first coating. The second coating includes an organic material capable of sufficiently sealing the pores of the first coating to reduce or eliminate infiltration of contaminant material, and is capable of being removed by exposure elevated temperatures.

Abstract: A method for cleaning the blades of a wind turbine using precipitation. The method includes determining the presence or absence of precipitation. In response to the determination of the presence of precipitation, adjusting the rotor speed to increase the speed of the blades and/or adjusting the variable pitch drive to increase the pitch of the blades. The combination of the increased blade speed and/or the increase blade pitch and the presence of precipitation facilitate the removal of debris from the blades by the precipitation.
Abstract: A system is provided to control and operate a compressor to have two or more discrete output capacities in response to an outdoor temperature measurement. During operation of the compressor in an air conditioning or cooling mode, the compressor has a first output capacity in response to the outdoor temperature being greater than a first temperature setpoint and the compressor has a second output capacity in response to the outdoor temperature being less than a second temperature setpoint.

Abstract: A chemical exposure indication device is disclosed. The device is removably attachable to a structure and includes a substrate having a first surface and a second surface and an indicating layer overlying the first substrate surface. The indicating layer includes a coating material that is chemically reactive with a pre-determined chemical compound that is known to degrade the structure. When the coating material is exposed to that corrosive compound in a pre-determined level associated with degradation of a metallic structure, the coating material provides a visual indication of the presence of the corrosive compound.
Abstract: A deflection resistant wind turbine generator having a stator arranged about an axis and a rotor operably mounted with respect to the stator to generate electricity. The rotor is rotatably communicating with wind turbine blades rotating substantially about the axis and the rotor and the stator are configured to maintain an airgap therebetween. The stator and the rotor have selectively engageable surfaces that maintain a substantially stable airgap and permit rotation of the rotor during engagement. The engageable surfaces engage when the rotor deflects to a predetermined amount of deflection.
