  • Patent number: 4848295
Abstract: The disclosure is of an axial flow rotary internal combustion engine constructed in three sections, a compressor section, a combustion section and an expander section. The compressor section includes male and female rotors with complementary, single turn lobe and groove in which an air-fuel mixture is compressed and discharged from a port at the end of the groove as the port overtakes and traverses an arcuate intake port in the cylindrical combustion block, which is rotating at a slower speed. After the intake port is traversed and sealed off, an ignition port in the combustion chamber exposes a spark plug and the mixture is ignited. Substantially complete combustion takes place while the combustion chamber is sealed off and isolated. Then an entry port into the helical groove of female expander rotor overtakes and traverses an arcuate combustion chamber exhaust port and the combusted gases are discharged and expanded into the expander section.

  • Patent number: 4827759
Abstract: The dent pulling apparatus includes a rectangular tubular pulling tool having a wheel eccentrically mounted therein. A pin, which has been welded to a dented panel is inserted into one end of the pulling tool and positioned between the wheel and the wall of the tubular member so that a pull on the pin tends to rotate the eccentric wheel in a direction to tighten the grip. A fulcrum plate is slidably carried on a tubular beam that is positioned parallel to the panel to be pulled and is both supported on the floor and anchored to the vehicle. A lever, on the side of which is carried one or more of the pulling tools, is pivoted on the fulcrum plate so that a pull on the lever pulls the dent out to its normal configuration.

  • Patent number: 4815676
Abstract: In a fishing reel, there is a main drive shaft rotatably on the reel body. A separable unit shaft may be selectively coupled to either end of the main drive shaft to drive it. The reel handle or crank is secured to a sleeve that is rotatable on the input shaft. Both the handle sleeve and the input shaft carry radial flanges between which are carried a drag disc and a friction washer. Pins on the drag disc engage through holes in the handle sleeve. A drag star pushes on the pins to squeeze the friction washer and adjust the torque that may be transmitted from the handle to the input shaft and, hence, the main drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4802301
Abstract: An animal trap comprises a complete enclosure with just a small hole in the top wall to provide access to the bait on the inside. The trap is sprung to clamp firmly around an animal's paw only if he reaches down through the hole and lifts the bait. In such case, a trigger arm is raised free of an aligned catch and two thick jaws having no sharp edges are brought quickly together. The initial alignment of the trigger arm may be set precisely by a setting screw, and the threaded engagement with the setting screw prevents misalignment.

  • Patent number: 4792096
Abstract: A nozzle with self-contained high pressure booster pump is carried on a pistol grip handle with a small motor to drive the eccentrically-pump. A portion of the water from a conventional hose fitting flows laterally into a pump cylinder and then radially through the piston itself to exit axially through a check valve and into the pump chamber ahead of the piston. During the working stroke the water is driven out of the piston into a pressure chamber and then through a restricted passageway to exit in a jet stream. Another portion of the supply water is diverted around the pump cylinder to the same nozzle to flush away debris loosened by the jet stream.

  • Patent number: 4779602
Abstract: The abstract is of an archery bow compensator comprising a central rod or core that is threaded at its trailing end into a bow to extend forwardly therefrom. A chamber at the forward end of the rod may be loaded with pellets to balance the rod precisely in the archer's hand. An inertia sleeve carried on the rod moves forward when the bow string is released against the force of a compression spring. When compressed, the spring thrusts the sleeve back against a stop on the core to force the bow firmly into the Vee of the archer's hand against any tendency to jump out.

  • Patent number: 4768532
Abstract: A low profile carriage is mounted on widely spread wheels to roll along the underwater surfaces of a swimming pool. The carriage is propelled by a high velocity stream of water projecting from a rearwardly directed thrust nozzle. There is a venturi restriction just forward of the thrust nozzle, creating a low pressure zone that induces flow of water through the bottom of the carriage, drawing in leaves and other debris. The water so drawn in passes through a screen, trapping the debris in a removable pod or bin depending from the carriage. The top of the carriage is relatively flat and the depending debris pod is curved downward to form an inverted air foil, whereby the pressure differential between the top and bottom of the carriage biases the carriage against the swimming pool surface traversed thereby.

  • Patent number: 4756487
Abstract: The disclosure is of a spin-cast reel wherein a spool is slidably and rotatably carried on an axial body extension. A rotary shaft carrying the rotor is coaxially mounted in the extension and a drag control knob is mounted at the back of the reel body, also on the axis of the rotary shaft. The drag control knob carries a nut that moves along a threaded rod which, in turn, forces the legs of a U-shaped member against a disc spring to apply a drag force against the side of the spool. Thus, the drag can be controlled from the rear of the reel and on the axis of the spool and rotor.
