  • Patent number: 4234172
Abstract: A hydraulic shock absorber for use on vehicles which includes a rubber attachment on the upper end thereof which is supported on the vehicle. A cap sealingly covers the rubber attachment to provide a sealed chamber communicating with oil in the cylinder of the shock absorber. A partition provided with a communicating hole is disposed in the chamber. A flexible membrane is disposed above the partition in the chamber and divides the chamber into sealed compartments. One of the sealed compartments is filled with pressurized gas, and the other sealed compartment is held in communication with the interior of the shock absorber. • Patent number: 4227422
Abstract: A chain device including a sprocket wheel, a buffer ring provided on one side of the sprocket wheel for rotation relative thereto, and a chain meshing therewith. The buffer ring has an outer diameter greater than the inner-diameter dimension of a semicircular-shaped portion of the chain which is in meshing engagement with the sprocket wheel. Thus, when the chain and sprocket wheel are in meshing engagement with each other, the buffer ring is restrained and forced by the inner-diameter part of the semicircular-shaped portion of the chain, so that the ring is deformed into an elliptical shape. Each of the link plates which form the chain includes a depressed portion having a curved shape coinciding, in its radius of curvature, to the maximum radius of curvature of the elliptically-deformed buffer ring. Such curved shape of the depressed portion of the link plate contributes to the improvement of durability of the buffer ring, as well as to reduction of chain noise.

  • Patent number: 4219136
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring and dispensing a predetermined quantity of particulate material from a container. The apparatus includes a measuring and dispensing assembly permanently secured at least in part within a container, particularly a disposable container such as a box of dry laundry detergent. The measuring and dispensing assembly defines a chamber within the container which may be opened to permit a predetermined measured quantity of the contents of the container to enter thereinto, and then closed to separate the measured quantity from the remaining contents of the container. To permit dispensing of the measured quantity of particulate material from the closed chamber, the assembly further includes a movable member which may be moved to expose a discharge opening in the container which is adjacent the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4217762
Abstract: The steps of handling ice cans in an ice making plant, such as placing the ice cans in alignment within one or more ice tanks, transferring ice cans each containing formed ice block to a stripping-off area, and placing and separating of the cover lid relative to ice can units, are automatically performed by an overhead travelling crane.Particularly, several ice can units are placed in the ice tank such that pairs of lugs provided on each ice can unit are arrayed in two straight lines to enable the overhead crane to selectively lift the ice cans.In order to produce high-quality ice blocks which are completely transparent through to the core portion thereof, each ice can is correlated with means for agitating ice making water contained therein and is connected with a piping for exchanging core water, in which impurities or foreign particles are likely to gather, with fresh water. The stripping-off of the ice blocks from the ice cans is also performed by an automatic system.
