    Abstract: A turbine assembly comprises 2 or more symmetrical vanes or blades attached to a centralized shaft. The assembly may be placed into a fluid current for transferring energy therefrom. Each blade has a scoop with a relatively broader span at the top end and a relatively narrow span at the bottom, which scoop-like vane or blade resembles an inverted tear drop. Eighty-six percent of the potential energy vector is captured within the blade assembly. One end may be connected to a power generation device that will create electrical power when rotated. Certain energy transferring methodology is believed further supported by the vane or blade designed incorporated into the overall turbine assembly.

    Abstract: A harness assembly for restraining freight having a relatively high center of gravity comprises first and second junction rings, and four tensile members. Two of the four members form a bifurcated harness when connected to the junction rings. The third and fourth tensile members each have a ring end and an anchor end. The ring ends are connected to the junction rings. The bifurcated harness, having a top-contacting member and a side-contacting member, respectively contacts a top end and a side portion of positioned freight. The anchor ends anchor the third and fourth tensile members to a support structure such as a railcar floor. The third and fourth tensile members thereby diagonally direct tension into the bifurcated harness relative to the support structure so as to force the top end of the freight toward the support structure and the side portion of the freight toward the anchor ends.

The monitor/control system is also adapted for use in remote power monitoring applications to automatically switch to standby power (generator) in the absence of primary power and to return to primary power when restored.

    Abstract: A storage assembly houses a defibrillator and enables would-be users to quickly (1) identify the defibrillator location and (2) carry the housed defibrillator to a user site. The storage assembly comprises a cover structure, a mounting assembly, and a defibrillator-restraining assembly. The cover structure comprises an open back, a closed front, a cover wall extending from the front to the back, a heart-shaped transverse cross-section. The cover wall spaces the front from the back and has a transverse periphery thereby defining a space sufficient to receive and house the defibrillator. The mounting assembly removably mounts the cover structure to a support wall, and the defibrillator-restraining assembly removably restrains the defibrillator as received within the cover structure. The cover structure may be nested with at least one additional cover structure for reducing space necessary for storage and the like. An optional alarm may be outfitted with the assembly.

    Abstract: The separator screen arrangement of a centrifugal basket assembly reduces separator screen wear and eases structural replacement of worn parts. The centrifugal basket assembly comprises a screen-supporting basket; a separator screen, and a series of J-shaped dam segments. The separator screen is received and supported by the basket and comprises and inlet and a circular outlet end. The dam segments each comprise a dam portion, and a rim seat portion. The rim seat portions seat upon the rim, being attached thereto in a circular manner side-by-side such that the dam portions extend toward the inlet end. The dam portions dam material directed thereagainst from the inlet end so as to uniformly spread and layer material upon the separator screen before the material exits the basket assembly. The uniformly spread and layered material reduces wear of the separator screen. Material-drying and screen-protecting methodology is further supported by the basket assembly.

    Abstract: A self-locking security mechanism for coin-operated machines. This mechanism consists of two units. The first unit mounts inside a coin-operated machine in alignment with the coin chute for receiving coins passing through the first unit. A second unit has a flexible bag secured thereon into which the coins are stored after passing through the second unit. This second unit also includes a door, which slides to an open condition by two teeth from the first unit when the second unit is connected by sliding into the first unit. The door is pushing the pivoting arm, which passes the snap stops and stays in preset condition. A pivoting arm is attached to the pivoting stopper with a spring between them. When the second unit is removed from the first unit, the door slides to a closed condition and releases the stopper. The spring lifts the stopper and blocks the door from sliding to an open condition. Only an authorized person can unlock the locked coin receptacle.

Automatic entry and release are provided by a selected interchangeable spring element within the base biasing the head to the locked position but permitting movement to the unlocked position when torque is applied by engagement of the container with a cam surface on the head. The spring element may be interchanged as may be required by anticipated climactic and/or temperature conditions. Each spring element is actuable by a uniquely configured shaft member having a spring-receiving end capable of cooperating with at least two types of springs.

    Abstract: A filtering device for diesel engines is based on metal foams. In order to achieve high filtration efficiency with low pressure drop using deep bed filtration metal foams, a radial flow concept is used based on a “porosity gradient”. The foams can also be coated with catalytically active material to enhance soot oxidation (regeneration), as well as reduction of other exhaust gas pollutants (CO, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides). This may be accomplished by using non-uniform amounts of catalytic materials within the filter depending on the targeted application. An additional secondary filter segment may be placed within the metal support of the main filter segment. The metallic diaphragms at the entrance and exit of the external shell are designed in such a way as to allow the flow to be divided between the main and the secondary filter segments according to the respective flow resistances.
