Abstract: A simple and economical outdoor electric lighting fixture whose housing is made of polyvinyl chloride. The fixture includes a U-shaped fluorescent lamp; a socket for the lamp; a 120 volt transformer; a flanged circular base plate supporting the socket and transformer; a polyvinyl chloride cylindrical housing having at its center an interior annular ring supporting the base plate; a polyvinyl chloride cylindrical post supporting the cylindrical housing; a cylindrical frosted lens surrounding the fluorescent lamp and resting on the flange of the base plate; and a domed end cap fitted over the upper end of the cylindrical lens.

Abstract: An economical and rugged lighting fixture designed particularly for dock-side use. The fixture's major components include a funnel-shaped main housing of polyvinyl chloride having a cylindrical upper end and a cylindrical lower end of reduced diameter; a main housing extension of polyvinyl chloride having the same diameter as the lower end of said main housing and having an annular ring projecting frm its inner wall; a hollow cylindrical housing sized to fit into the upper cylindrical end of said main housing; a U-shaped fluorescent lamp; a socket for said lamp; a 120 volt transformer; a circular socket mounting bracket sized to fit snugly onto the annular ring of the main housing extension and carrying the fluorescent lamp socket and the transformer; a dished reflector surrounding the lower end of the lamp and whose outer edge is secured between the lower end of the cylindrical housing and the flared wall of the main housing; and a flat circular transparent lens bonded to the upper end of said main housing.

Abstract: A scent-emitting toilet paper roller designed to fit into any rolled paper dispenser. The roller includes three components molded of thermoplastic material. Two of these components are identical vented hollow closed ended generally cylindrical roller halves, each half containing tongues and slots which permit the two roller halves to be axially slidably joined together. The third thermoplastic component is a helical coiled spring designed to fit inside the joined together roller halves and urge the two halves into their maximum axially extended position. A recessed truncated conical projection axially centered on the closed end of each roller half fits the assembled roller into any rolled paper dispenser. A quantity of scent-emitting pellets are contained within the hollow interior of the joined together roller halves to be tumbled about as the roller is rotated by the removal of paper, thus causing scent to be emitted into the atmosphere through vents in the roller.

Abstract: A sight glass assembly for observing the lubricant in the lower gearcase of a marine engine. The assembly is designed to be bonded into a circular hole in the lower gearcase housing and includes a window retaining ring which is bonded to the gearcase housing and a lock ring located inside the gearcase, an annular O-ring of resilient water proof material fitted into an annular groove in the retaining ring, a cylindrical disc-shaped transparent sight glass one of whose two outer edges is pressed against the O-ring, and a window cover having a central void and an annular face which is pressed against the second outer edge of the sight glass. The window cover is threadedly joined to the window retaining ring and is preferably locked into place by a lock screw threaded into a hole in the adjoining edges of the window retaining ring and the window cover.

Abstract: An axially split clamp for securing the connection between a push-on fitting having a flared end fitted into a cage and surrounded by a garter-type coiled spring housed within the cage on a pipe having a plurality of O-rings sealing the connection between the push-on fitting and the pipe. The two mirror image halves of the axially split clamp are sized to snugly encircle the cage housing the coiled spring of the pipe while at the same time snugly encircling the adjacent outer surface of the push-on fitting. The two halves of the clamp are then securely joined together by a pair of screws threaded into aligned threaded holes in both halves of the clamp.

Abstract: Adjustable solarium shade apparatus including a rectangular two-layer shade, the two layers being sewn together to form a series of horizontal downwardly projecting loops into each of which is inserted a tubular curtain rod. The upper edge of the shade is attached to the interior wall of the solarium closely adjacent to the uppermost edge of the glass panels forming the roof of the solarium. The shade is suspended from a series of C-shaped tracks each located on the lower surface of one of the vertical beams supporting the glass panels of the roof and side wall of the solarium. The supporting mechanism includes a series of key rings sewn to the shade above the loops in the shade, a series of eyebolts connected to the key rings and supported by a nut nested in an inner race resting on the C-shaped track and surrounded by an outer race also resting on the C-shaped track. The shade is raised and lowered by a plurality of cords each threaded successively through vertically ascending eyebolts.

Abstract: A locking assembly for securing the connection between a push-on fitting having a flared end fitted into a cage and surrounded by a garter-type coiled spring housed within the cage on a pipe having a plurality of O-rings sealing the connection between the push-on fitting and the pipe. The assembly comprises an axially split male fitting and an axially split locking nut. The two halves of the axially split male fitting are sized to snugly encircle the push-on fitting with the ends of the two halves of the male fitting resting against the flared end of the push-on fitting and thus forcing the coiled spring away from the push-on fitting. The two halves of the axially split locking nut snugly encircle the cage housing the coiled spring while an internal face of the two halves of the nut engage and securely lock the position of the two halves of the male fitting.

Abstract: A multiple-hulled marine vessel resistant to forces tending to separate the hulls from the platform is provided. The connections between the hulls and the platform include elastic elements which are in a non-tensioned state when the hulls are touching the platform, and are compressed when the hulls separate from the platform.

Abstract: A method of conditioning a person's unconscious mind in order to effect a desired change in the person's behavior which does not require the services of a trained therapist. Instead the person to be treated views a program of video pictures appearing on a screen. The program as viewed by the person's unconscious mind acts to condition the person's thought patterns in a manner which alters that person's behavior in a positive way.

Abstract: A wallet sized to fit folded into the breastpocket of a jacket for use by pari-mutuel bettors to organize their cash and notes and pari-mutuel tickets. The wallet contains two identical pockets for separating betting cash from winning cash, three identical slots for storing purchased pari-mutuel tickets arranged one above the other by events, a fourth slot spaced from the other three slots for storing winning tickets, a slot for a pad of notepaper, and a sleeve for holding a pen or pencil.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for restoring a beach by raising the level of the beach between the high tide line and the low tide line of the beach in which an elongated rectangular net of nylon cord is suspended from a temporary supporting structure generally perpendicular to the high tide line of the beach and extending from the high tide line to at least the low tide line, said net having a uniform mesh sized to prohibit passage through said net of the larger rocks, coral and shells present on the sea floor and having a weighted bottom edge resting upon the sea floor and a top edge suspended above the high tide level of the sea, wherein said net remains suspended between the high tide line and the low tide line for a period of at least twelve hours, and then said net and its supporting structure are removed from the beach.

Abstract: A hair curling rod assembly consisting of an elongated hollow rod molded of thermoplastic material and having one closed end and an opposite open end, the open end of the rod having a cylindrical opening and the closed end of the rod having an axial hole in the center of its closed end, a hair tress-fastening cord of stretchable elastomeric material passing through the axial hole in the closed end of the rod with the end of the cord lying within the hollow rod being knotted so as to secure it within said rod, the closed end of the rod also having along its outer rim a plurality of grooves equally spaced around the rim, these grooves being sized to snugly contain the tress-fastening cord as the cord is stretched from one end to the other of the rod, and a cylindrical plug sized to fit into the cylindrical opening in the rod and having an axial hole through which passes the opposite end of the cord with that end of the cord then knotted so as to retain the plug onto the cord.

The fixture's major components include a cylindrical housing of polyvinyl chloride having an annular ring projecting from the center of its inner wall; a U-shaped standard voltage fluorescent lamp; a socket for said lamp; a 120 volt transformer; a hollow cylindrical housing extension of polyvinyl chloride whose outer diameter is slightly less than the inner diameter of said housing and which is fitted into the lower end of said housing; a flanged circular base plate sized to fit snugly into the lower end of the housing extension and carrying on its upper surface the fluorescent lamp socket and the transformer; a dished reflector surrounding the lower end of the lamp and secured against the annular ring of said housing; and a flat circular transparent lens bonded to the upper end of said housing.

Abstract: A clip for holding the lever of a gasoline pump dispensing handle in open gasoline dispensing position made from a single flat plate of uniform thickness having a rear shank about 11/2 inches in length with a pair of identical arms extending about 11/2 inches from the opposite ends of the shank and forming between said arms an angle of approximately 40 degrees. A serrated row of similar flat-topped teeth lies along the inner edge of each arm with the flat tops of each serrated row of teeth lying in a common plane and the two planes containing said flat tops intersecting each other at an angle of approximately 40 degrees. Preferably each row contains six flat-topped teeth.

Abstract: A reversible drill and drive tool for performing a series of similar drill and drive operations. The tool consists of an elongated cylindrical housing having at its rear end a shaft of reduced diameter for insertion into the chuck of a power drill and a front and bifurcated to form two arms with parallel flat interior surfaces and a generally cylindrical tool-holding member having at each end an axially recessed cylindrical socket of reduced diameter adapted to receive a drilling tool at one end and a driving tool at its other end. Each arm of the housing contains an identical elongated slot running parallel to the axis of the housing, and the tool-holding member being slidably and pivotably pinned into the housing by a pin whose outer ends lie within the elongated slots in the arms of the housing. The tool-holding member also has a pair of identical and parallel flat sides which lie parallel to the flat interior surfaces of the arms of the housing and the housing has a third elongated slot which lies at 90.

Abstract: An electric lighting fixture for outdoor use having a generally cylindrical housing of polyvinyl chloride with concentric outer and inner walls and an annular flange projecting from the center of said inner wall, a first cylindrical spacer ring whose lower end rests on the annular flange within the housing, a circular lens sealed to the upper end of the first spacer ring, a low voltage lamp within said housing having a circular outer edge with a diameter slightly less than the inner diameter of the housing, a second spacer ring having an outer diameter slightly less than the inner diameter of the housing, a cup-shaped base plate having an axial hole in its bottom, and an electric power line passing through the end connected to the low voltage lamp, the outer edge of the lamp lying between the annular flange of the housing and the second spacer ring and the upper edge of the base plate resting against the lower edge of the second spacer ring.

Abstract: A pair of clip-on cuffs for attachment onto the ear-engaging portion of the temples of a pair of eyeglasses. The cuffs are preferably made of translucent acrylic material and are C-shaped in cross-section to fit over and firmly grip the ear-engaging portion of each temple. The cuffs cover about an inch of the temple's length and have a thickness of about 1/32nd of an inch. The outer surface of each cuff includes a series of smoothly raised areas such as parallel ridges, cross-hatched ridges or hemispherical protuberances to increase the traction between the eyeglasses and the skin of the wearer.
