  • Patent number: 4249502
Abstract: A hermetically sealed housing provides an enclosure for low and high pressure gaseous fuel vapor chambers and for a liquid fuel receiving reservoir which receives liquid fuel such as gas from the fuel tank of a vehicle. The reservoir has a vapor space above the liquid fuel therein, and a pair of vacuum operated pumps serve to pump vapor from the vapor space sequentially to the low and high pressure chambers. Check valves are provided to prevent backflow of gaseous vapor toward the vapor space, and the high pressure chamber is provided with an outlet connectable to the air induction passage of an internal combustion engine for delivering gaseous vapor thereto. The outlet from the high pressure chamber is connected to the air induction passage through a pressure regulator valve and throttle valves which are closed when the engine is shut down so that vapor is maintained in the second chamber at the high pressure thereof when the engine is stopped.

  • Patent number: 4247751
Abstract: An automatic presettable welding system which enables the user to preset the arc voltage and wire feed speed to precise predetermined values without either energizing the wire with arc voltage or initiating the wire feed. A meter is supplied with an appropriate signal so the readout corresponds to the desired wire feed speed or the desired arc voltage and these same signals are supplied to wire feed speed or arc voltage comparative circuits which then function to energize a wire feed motor or an arc welding power source to the precise wire feed speed or arc voltage indicated on the meter. Means are provided for controlling the acceleration of the wire feed drive motor and a controlled initiation of the arc voltage at the beginning of each weld. Overload, over-voltage and under-voltage or over or under wire feed speed and other protective circuits are provided with appropriate delays in the functioning thereof to insure fully automatic and satisfactory welding.

  • Patent number: 4246463
Abstract: An apparatus for arc welding of a pair of spaced steel plates from one side only using a grooved back-up plate which gives a good weld bead shape on the under side, gives high linear welding speeds, and avoids contamination of the deposited weld metal by the metal from the back-up plate. A pair of consumable electrodes connected in electrical series between the output terminals of the power source and with one connected by an independent connection to the workpiece are advanced into the weld gap on lines of movement which intersect at a point above the lower surfaces of the plates so that an arc is maintained between the electrodes spaced from the base of the back-up plate groove. A separately energized electrode trails the first two electrodes and deposits a weld bead on the first deposited weld metal while it is still hot.

  • Patent number: 4244122
Abstract: An arrangement for modifying a plow blade power unit of the type positioned between the mounting frame on the front of a vehicle and a plow blade lift arm, to a unit for creating pressurized fluid from a remote location. Modification enables a basically similar power unit to be utilized in both remote and direct operational environments with only minor substitution of interchangable parts. A piston-cylinder unit which enables direct lifting of a plow blade is replaced by a modified, but similar, cylindrical element for use in indirect lifting of a plow blade by fluid under pressure.

  • Patent number: 4245298
Abstract: A system for creating a control reference signal for a remote electrical servo device having a movable output unit wherein the velocity and position of the output unit are controlled by the vector magnitude of the control reference signal. This system includes a digital circuit for creating a first fixed analog signal indicative of a known or desired velocity for the unit during a preselected controlled time interval and a second digital means for creating a desired time base positional profile during the preselected time interval. An encoder arrangement is employed for detecting the actual time base positional profile of the servo output unit during the given time interval so that an analog signal generally proportional to the algebraic difference between the actual and desired time base positional digital profile can be created at various times during the time interval.

  • Patent number: 4242024
Abstract: A fork lift mechanism is associated with apparatus for palletizing long sheets of strip material at the discharge end of a shearing press. The long sheets are palletized on an underlying conveyor having a width corresponding to the length of the sheets in the direction of discharge from the press. The fork lift mechanism is supported above the conveyor for displacement toward and away from the shearing press in the direction of the discharge and is adapted to be elevated and lowered relative to the conveyor. The fork lift mechanism is operable to receive and support a plurality of short sheets from the press to form a stack on the fork lift mechanism and to position a plurality of such stacks on a pallet on the conveyor and in side-by-side relationship on the pallet in the direction of press discharge and/or in the direction of conveyor movement.

  • Patent number: 4238895
Abstract: An improved lift arm is pivoted upward by a hydraulic cylinder to lift a plow blade by a chain connected between the lift arm and blade. The lift arm includes an elongated body with a chain receiving member permanently fixed to an end thereof. Engaging a link of the chain is a slot in an upwardly facing concave surface of the chain receiving member. The slot has a width slightly greater than the thickness of a link of the chain so that a link is engaged and restrained. An opening, having a width slightly greater than the width of the link, receives the chain ahead of the link restrained in the slot. Regardless of the relative orientation of the chain and lift arm, the concave surface causes the chain and chain receiving member to remain generally perpendicular.

  • Patent number: 4236329
Abstract: A snow plow is detachably mounted to the front of a vehicle by interlocking members extending from the snow plow and vehicle. Engageable members on the plow are fixedly positioned a predetermined distance apart. Corresponding engaging members on the vehicle are displaceable between latching and unlatching positions by an over-center linkage arrangement. A first portion of the over-center linkage is pivotally connected to the vehicle. A second portion of the over-center linkage is slidably connected to the vehicle. Actuation of a hydraulic cylinder forces the over-center linkage to move from the unlatching position, wherein the blade and vehicle are disconnected, to the latching position, wherein the blade and vehicle are detachably connected. With the over-center linkage in the latching position, a toggle pin at the center moves against an abutment to lock the position of the over-center linkage, and therefore the plow onto the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4235220
Abstract: An air filtration system for a cooking stove collects exhaust air from the stove with a vent hood, filters grease, particles and odors from the exhaust air and returns the filtered exhaust air to the room in which the stove is used. Exhaust air is cleansed of particles and odors by an activated charcoal filter within a return air conduit leading from the vent hood to the room. An electrically operated fan draws exhaust air into the vent hood, through grease filters and the activated charcoal filter and forces exhaust air back into the room. Regeneration of the activated charcoal filter is provided at selective intervals of time to maintain the effectiveness of the charcoal, and cooling of return air is provided for.
