  • Patent number: 5317776
Abstract: A new and improved swimming pool vacuum apparatus includes an extensible handle assembly which serves as a handle grasped by an operator and which supports a vacuum motor assembly. The vacuum motor assembly is used for providing vacuum power to a vacuum head assembly which contacts the bottom and the walls of a swimming pool. The vacuum head assembly is also supported by the extensible handle assembly. An electrical conductor assembly, connected between the vacuum motor assembly and a source of AC power, is used for conducting electrical power from the source of AC power to the vacuum motor assembly. The electrical conductor assembly includes a ground fault circuit interrupter assembly for interrupting electrical power flow from the source of AC power to the vacuum motor assembly in the event of a short circuit. The extensible handle assembly may include a plurality of handle units connected together in telescopic fashion and also includes an electrically insulating hand grip member.

  • Patent number: 5315725
Abstract: A new and improved multipurpose hand-held tool, especially adapted to be used by rescue workers to extract victims from damaged motor vehicles, includes a handle, a head, a foot, and a saw blade that projects from the bottom of the foot. The head is connected to the handle and includes a first head end, a middle head portion, and a second head end. The foot, which is connected to the handle, includes a first foot end, a middle foot portion, a second foot end, and a bottom side. In a first embodiment, a first cutter, which is pyramidal shaped, is connected to the first head end and has a sharp, pointed edge. A second cutter is connected to the second head end and has a long, flat, axe blade. The first foot end includes a pointed hook edge, especially adapted for prying; and the second foot end includes a hammer head. In a second embodiment, a hammer head is connected to the first head end; and an axe head cutter is connected to the second head end.

  • Patent number: 5313669
Abstract: A new and improved clothing anchor apparatus, especially useful for anchoring the front and back tails of shirts, includes a first clothing connector, a second clothing connector, and an elastic strap connected therebetween. The elastic strap has a first end, an interior portion, and a second end. A strap length adjuster is located on the interior portion of the strap for adjusting the effective length of the strap. The effective length of the strap is adjusted by adjustingly doubling a portion of the strap. A soft, flexible jacket encompasses a portion of the elastic strap and the strap length adjuster. The jacket may also include a pocket for receiving and secretly storing soft, flexible items such as paper money. In use, preferably, two clothing anchor apparatuses of the invention are used. One clothing connector of each apparatus is attached to the front shirt tail, and the other clothing connector of each apparatus is attached to the back shirt tail by first passing under the crotch area.

  • Patent number: 5314037
Abstract: An automobile collision avoidance system based on laser radars for aiding in avoidance of automobile collisions. The very small beam width, very small angular resolution and the highly directional character of laser radars provide a plurality of advantages as compared with microwave radars. With two sets of laser radars this system can detect the location, the direction of movement, the speed and the size of all obstacles specifically and precisely. This system includes laser radars with transmitters and receivers, a computer, a warning device and an optional automatic braking device. A steering wheel rotation sensor or a laser gyroscope is utilized to give information of system-equipped vehicle's directional change. The system will compare the predicted collision time with the minimal allowable time to determine the imminency of a collision. When the system determines that a situation likely to result in an accident exists, it provides a warning.
