  • Patent number: 5070985
Abstract: A device for coupling a rotary member to an axially movable input stem of a linear displacement transducer comprises an axially movable element which is coupled to the stem and threadedly engages the rotary member. The axially movable element is restrained against rotation by spring loaded detents and has abutments which can engage a lug on the member when the element reaches its limiting axial positions. This engagement causes the element to be rotated with the member and input to the transducer is arrested.

  • Patent number: 4864882
Abstract: A rotary to linear converter has a rotary input shaft and a linearly movable output element. A torque limiter arrests rotation of the shaft at a critical value of torque thereon. A friction device increase the torque on the shaft if a predetermined axial force on the output element is exceeded, this torque increase being sufficient to operate the limiter. The arrangement renders operation of the torque limiter directly responsive to axial force on the output element.

  • Patent number: 4844125
Abstract: A first control element is movable to control fluid flow between ports in a housing. A second control element is movable by an electric force motor and engages the first element through biasing springs so that in normal use the elements move in unison. An arrangement of ports and passages in the elements has the effect that relative movement between the elements as a result of jamming of the first element causes fluid pressure to be applied to the first element to overcome the jamming.

  • Patent number: 4825901
Abstract: A temperature compensated fluid metering valve has a body including a ported sleeve in which a metering element is slidable, the thermal coefficient of expansion of the sleeve and metering element being identical and different from that of the body. The sleeve is secured at one of its ends to the body and a device for detecting the position of the metering element is secured to the body at the other end of the sleeve. The dimensions of the body and the coefficients of expansion are selected so a change in temperature results in an apparent position error signal from the device, this signal repositioning the metering element to compensate for changes in specific gravity of the metered fluid as a result of the temperature change.
