Patent number: 6003541Abstract: A fill valve for a water storage tank includes a riser assembly, a valve housing mounted on an upper end of the riser assembly, and a pilot operated diaphragm valve mounted in the valve housing. A float housing is connected to the valve housing. A float arm of a combination float and float arm has a first end pivotally connected to the valve housing for opening and closing a pilot orifice in the diaphragm valve. A second end of the float arm is connected to the float. The float is located in the float housing which has an inlet opening for allowing water to spill into the float housing so that the float rises upwardly and the first end of the float arm fully seals off the pilot orifice. A snap off cover member extends over, and is releasable latched to, the valve housing and the float housing.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1997Date of Patent: December 21, 1999Assignee: Hunter Industries, Inc.Inventor: David Nichols-Roy

Patent number: 5996608Abstract: A diaphragm-type control valve for irrigation systems has an outer clam-shell housing that encloses a vertically reciprocable diaphragm assembly. A primary valve seat inside the housing is engaged and disengaged by a seal on the underside of the diaphragm to open and close the valve by connecting and disconnecting its inlet and outlet passages. Pressurized water from a lower inlet chamber of the valve travels through a small metering orifice in the center of the diaphragm assembly to an upper pressure control chamber above a flexible membrane of the diaphragm assembly. A solenoid actuated pilot valve is operatively coupled to the upper pressure control chamber for venting pressurized water therefrom to permit the diaphragm assembly to move upwardly to open the valve. A filter screen is mounted to the underside of the diaphragm assembly to prevent debris from clogging the metering orifice, clogging the small passages of the pilot valve, or fouling the solenoid.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Hunter Industries, Inc.Inventors: Richard E. Hunter, Revis R. Hunter

Patent number: 5992290Abstract: A digital interface device conveys signals between aircraft data busses and a wingtip weapons station. A first interface is provided, coupling to an F/A-18 Aircraft Instrumentation Subsystem Internal (AISI) input/output connector. A second interface is coupled to a secondary armament bus. A crossover cable interconnects the wingtip weapon station to the secondary armament bus. A digital data processing module is coupled to the first and second interfaces and programmed to convey signals between aircraft data systems coupled to the F/A-18 AISI input/output connector and the wingtip weapon station. Namely, the processing module monitors signals received on the input/output connector, and extracts signals addressed to one or more predetermined addresses. The module also transmits the reformatted signals to the wingtip weapon station. With a minimum of wiring changes, the interface easily converts an aircraft designed for a nose-mounted ACT pod for use with an ACT pod mounted at a wingtip station.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Cubic Defense Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gayle P. Patent number: 5988523Abstract: A pop-up sprinkler unit includes an outer cylindrical fixed housing for subsurface mounting, with a riser reciprocally mounted in a central bore of the housing for extending up through a portion of the soil. A radially retractable and expandable resilient plastic containment ring is mounted at an outlet end of the housing and engages an annular inner shoulder of the housing for retaining a coil spring and the riser in the bore. The containment ring is split to enable expansion and retraction. It has a first height throughout a first portion of its circumference and a second lower height throughout a second portion of its circumference to enable overlap during insertion of the ring into the upper end of the fixed housing. This configuration eliminates a gap at the split when the ring is in its retaining position, thereby preventing debris from entering the bore of the housing and preventing complete extension and/or retraction of the riser.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1998Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Hunter Industries, Inc.Inventor: Loren W. Patent number: 5904414Abstract: A flashlight that includes a substantially watertight battery housing, a bulb mounted in a socket assembly, a reflector, and a lens covering a forward end of the reflector. A plurality of batteries are supported in the housing so that only if the batteries are correctly polarized will a circuit be completed to allow current from the batteries to energize the bulb. This reduces the emission of flammable gas or corrosive liquid from the batteries. A membrane seals a vent port in the battery housing and is made of a material that permits a flammable gas generated by the batteries within the housing to continuously escape from the housing through the membrane without permitting water to enter the housing through the membrane. Pellets are mounted inside the battery housing for neutralizing the effects of any flammable gas emitted within the battery housing that may have nevertheless been produced and not adequately vented.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1997Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: Underwater KineticsInventors: William J. Monteleone, Alan K. Uke, Elmer F. Fischer

Patent number: 5876110Abstract: A flashlight has a water tight cylindrical battery casing and a sealed cylindrical closure which screws over the forward open end thereof. The closure includes a lens and a parabolic reflector. A first PC board fixed in the closure serves as a support member for a second PC board that serves as a mounting member for a pair of bulbs. The second PC board is pivotally connected to the first PC board in front thereof in overlapping fashion. The pins of the bulbs are plugged into forward opening pin receptacles in the second PC board. The second PC board can swing back and forth to move the bulbs through an arcuate slot in the reflector into and out of the focal point of the reflector.
