Abstract: This invention is related to a device to separate or out a distance apart structural metallic elements for concrete, between them or in relation to a surface on which concrete is going to be poured, in order to obtain coatings or layers of concrete with specified widths. The chair proposed it is made preferably of propylene and it is made by two vertical walls opposite each other and joined by a third wall orthogonal to the first two (load axis); the vertical opposite walls show on its upper end a semi-circular cavity to support an structural metallic element to be supported, and in its lower part, each one of the walls is divided in three legs, being defined the two on the ends by the vertical edges and a cavity preferably in form of arch between them, and the third being a projection of the transversal wall. All the walls show hollow arches in their lower ends and in some embodiments, preferably for pieces with heights above 2.
Abstract: The invention is a formulation for remedial additives to be introduced into environmental medium, where the formulation is designed to reduce unwanted movement through the environmental medium. The formulation includes an inorganic thickening agent to adjust viscosity and a diluent, in addition to components for chemical and/or bioremediation.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of bonding a first member (110, 210, 130, 230, 410, 430, 510, 530, 610) to a second silicon member (120, 220, 420a, 420b, 600) through anodic bonding. The method comprises the steps of selectively depositing on said first member bondable sections (170a, 170b, 270, 470a, 470b, 470c, 570, 620) before bringing said first and second members together for anodic bonding.

Abstract: The invention provides repeated sequential stages of chemical and biological treatment to meet soil and/or groundwater treatment goals. Chemical treatment is undertaken to directly destroy a portion of the contaminants via oxidation, with such chemical treatment occurring in discrete injection events. Near the completion of an injection event, the remedial additive concentrations or delivery rates are increased. During or subsequent to the chemical treatment event, beneficial nutrients and additional microbial populations are added to the soil and or groundwater based upon field or laboratory testing and calculated optimal concentrations.
Abstract: An improved hydrocyclone provided with a back wall with at least two ramps, where the ramps impart a greater axial velocity component to the fluids at the periphery as measured radially from the longitudinal axis of the hydrocyclone and a lesser axial velocity component to portions of the incoming fluid stream closer to the longitudinal axis of the hydrocyclone. The ramps of the back wall correspond generally to the swirl pattern within the hydrocyclone, a combination of axial and tangential velocity components, enabling the incoming fluid stream to reach the desired flow pattern more quickly and efficiently than otherwise possible.
Abstract: A laminated composite panel-form loudspeaker consists of a peripherally stiffened laminated composite radiating panel on which a preselected number of transducers are mounted and a rectangular frame carrying a flexible suspension device which supports the panel radiator. The laminated composite radiating panel comprises a predetermined number of orthotropic laminae with predetermined specific moduli and stacking sequence. The peripheral edge of the laminated composite radiating panel is reinforced with strips of which the rigidities are determined in such a way that beneficial natural normal modes of the radiating panel are excited and satisfactory operation of the panel radiator over a desired acoustic frequency range achieved. The standing waves at the peripheral edge of the stiffened radiating panel are damped out via the use of the flexible suspension device.
Abstract: The invention refers to a micromechanical switching device including at least two contact elements (11, 12, 31, 32), which are provided at least partly movable relative each other and via thermal actuation can be closed and opened, whereby the contact elements (11, 12, 31, 32) at least partly are comprised of at least two materials (14, 15, 16, 17, 34-37) with essentially different thermal expansion coefficients. The contact elements (11, 12, 31, 32) at excitation are arranged to displace essentially in same level and in different directions.
Abstract: An autopilot system for a vehicle capable of steering the vehicle on a predetermined course by use of laser beams. The invention is comprised of: an off-board mounted laser transmitter, which describes the intended course of the vehicle, a vehicle mounted laser sensor array, a logic control unit, one or more actuators to control vehicle's heading and a user interface.
Abstract: A system for evaluating a document for the purpose authorizing an individual presenting the document for a transaction. The system comprises means for acquiring data from the document presented by the individual and for acquiring biometric data characteristics of the individual at the time of the transaction. The system uses data processing means to compare the acquired data to reference data stored in databases containing records corresponding to various types of documents and records characterizing the individuals to whom documents were issued. The system retrieves the biographical information corresponding to the individual seeking authorization and determines whether the information indicates that the individual is eligible for the transaction. The system stores information identifying authorization attempts and information identifying associated transaction. The invention additionally comprises a method following the stated functions of the system.

Abstract: A method is provided for forming an oxide film on a III-V substrate. The method includes steps of (a) preparing an acidic solution containing a IIIA-ion, (b) adding an basic solution into the acidic solution to provide a growth solution of a specific pH value, and (c) placing the III-V substrate into the growth solution to form the oxide film on the III-V substrate.
Abstract: A space frame for a low profile, light truck with triangulation members of the space frame located under the floor is described having a passenger compartment, and front and rear wheel assemblies. The space frame comprises a front clip portion above the front wheel assembly, a rear clip portion above the rear wheel assembly, and a tub portion supporting the base of the passenger compartment. The tub portion includes a plurality of structural members at least two of which are disposed in horizontal coplanar relation relative to one another wherein additional structural members of the tub portion are connected together in a triangulated configuration at an elevation at or below the at least two horizontal coplanar structural members of the tub portion. Foldable rollbars are also provided.
