Abstract: A method for processing digitized ultrasonic signals originating from an ultrasonic probe for the storage and later reconstruction of the ultrasonic signals from the stored data. Each half-wave from the digitized data is stored as the maximum amplitude, polarity sign, and location on the time axis of the wave. Reconstruction of the signal from the stored data is effected by constructing a series of 180.degree. cosine curves from the stored data and connecting each successive cosine curve with the previous cosine curve.
Abstract: An apparatus for connecting at least two leg members to form a table leg assembly, comprising: a tab bracket disposed on each of said leg members; at least two ganging brackets matingly engageable with said tab brackets; and connecting means for removably connecting said ganging brackets with said tab brackets.
Abstract: A surgical stapling instrument with a remotely articulated staple head assembly on a rotatable support shaft. A joy stick mounted to the shaft of the instrument near the handle allows for remote articulation of the staple head assembly. The staple head assembly includes a narrow contour for insertion between adjacent rib pairs without rib spreading. The staple head assembly further includes a reloadable staple cartridge which may be replaced with differently sized staples of a second cartridge. A closure trigger clamps tissue prior to stapling and cooperates with a second trigger that performs the staple firing operation. The triggers include a safety lock mechanism for preventing premature staple firing.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for determining caloric expenditure of a subject. The apparatus includes a modified heat flow sensor having an overlay and/or conductive layer for measuring the evaporative heat loss component, in addition to substantially total heat loss, for the subject.
Abstract: A device and method for fastening lighting to a supporting structure. The first fastening element, an anchor portion, includes an adhesive backing to attach to the supporting structure. A second fastening element, a fastening portion, is secured to the anchor portion by a plurality of VELCRO.RTM. loops and hooks, which may also attached to a third fastening element, a disk portion, by an adhesive means. The fastening portion includes a pair of holes for receiving a fastener for securing wire.
