  • Patent number: 4525819
Abstract: The geophone transducer comprises in combination: a geophone capable of detecting horizontal seismic waves, and a rigid casing having a gimbal chamber. A gimbal is provided inside the chamber on which the geophone is mounted for limited free angular movement in one direction only. The gimbal includes in one preferred embodiment a viscous liquid in which the geophone is only partially submerged while it is supported by a U-shaped bracket which is mounted for rotation about a fixed axis.

  • Patent number: 4509329
Abstract: The power engine includes at least two separate fluid-tight enclosures. A solid mass is associated with each enclosure. A coupling rigidly interconnects the enclosures. A pivot shaft defines an axis of rotation and pivotally supports the engine for rotation from a first position, whereat a first enclosure is located at a first level above the axis of rotation, to a second position, whereat the first enclosure is located at a second level below the axis of rotation. A motive fluid is enclosed within each enclosure whose pressure varies in response to temperature changes. Each solid mass is movable in response to a pressure change in its associated enclosure. The engine is responsive to alternating thermal effects which cause alternating variations in the pressures of the enclosures resulting in alternating shifts of the center of gravity of the engine, thereby rotating the engine about the axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4453699
Abstract: The gate and swing valve has a body which defines at least one valve seat. A closure member inside the valve is pivotably mounted on a support. A cam and cam follower operatively couple the cam to the closure member. A stem has one end coupled to the cam for moving the closure member in a linear motion, in a swinging motion, and then in a linear motion toward the valve seat.

  • Patent number: 4453438
Abstract: The present invention provides a platform for guiding a circular portable power saw to make rapid, accurate, splinter-free cuts in wood, veneer, plywood, particle board, or other such soft material. The platform has a deck, a shoulder, and a rail and can be used with most portable circular power saws and involves using a portion of the deck and the coplanar shoulder, which is detachably secured to the deck, in order to support and guide the saw's baseplate. The upstanding rail is adjustably mounted on top of the deck and provides a guide surface for one edge of the baseplate.

  • Patent number: 4445741
Abstract: The double-plug seismic electric connector comprises an elongated insulating body. A male connector plug is at one end of the body and a female connector plug is at the opposite end of the body. Each plug has a pair of male and female contacts. A pair of spaced axial conductors is embedded within the insulating body for interconnecting the opposite male and female contacts. The inner end of a double-wire cable is embedded within the insulating body and each wire inner end is connected to one of the conductors.

  • Patent number: 4432227
Abstract: The valve testing apparatus is adapted for testing a flanged device having a casing defining a chamber and at least one annular end flange disposed on a horizontal test plate having a fluid inlet. At least one clamping unit is provided which comprises a lever disposed in a radial direction relative to the center of the annular flange. The lever has an outer end detachably resting on an underlying support, and an inner end gripping a portion of the flange. A fulcrum is fixedly mounted above the lever intermediate its inner and outer ends. The lever is adapted to pivot about the fulcrum. A hydraulic ram exerts a vertical force against one end of the lever, thereby causing the inner end of the lever to exert a predetermined clamping pressure on the flange, so as to obtain a fluid-tight connection between the flange and the plate.

  • Patent number: 4429525
Abstract: A device is disclosed for connecting and disconnecting links in a multi-strand roller chain by exerting on the roller link plates discrete, laterally-spaced, longitudinal forces in one direction on a first row of roller links, and simultaneously exerting equal forces but in an opposite direction on a longitudinally-spaced apart second row of roller links, thereby relaxing the intervening chain links disposed between the first and second rows of roller links which are being drawn together by the application of the equal but opposite forces. The apparatus includes yokes having a first and a second two-prong fork operable for the prongs to become mounted transversely on both sides of the pin plates, at their narrow waists, and to bear against the rounded heads of their adjacent, interconnecting roller plates. The prongs have end portions which project outwardly of both sides of the chain.

  • Patent number: 4400861
Abstract: In accordance with the method of this invention, at least one sheet containing the spider springs is positioned in a novel preform fixture having internal parts constructed to simultaneously permanently preform each spring after the fixture is heat treated. The novel fixture for carrying out the preforming process of the invention on an etched sheet comprises a base plate having a number of columns extending vertically upwardly from the flat surface. The number of columns is equal to the number of springs on the sheet, and their disposition on the base corresponds to the disposition of the inner rings on the sheet. The outside diameter of a column is substantially equal to the outside diameter of an inner ring. An intermediate plate is provided defining a number of transverse bores equal to the number of columns.
