  • Patent number: 4132136
Abstract: The power wrench for turning threaded connection members comprises a power cylinder having a piston rod extending from one end of the cylinder and being operably coupled to a wrench arm connectable to a connection member for turning the same. A reaction support structure has a pivotal connection with the other end of the cylinder. The reaction support structure is supported from a pair of connection members. The structure includes discretely adjustable means for varying the angular position of the cylinder so as to maintain at mid-stroke of the rod, a substantially perpendicular relationship between the piston rod and the wrench arm to thereby accommodate the power wrench to a wide range of distinctly different patterns of the connection members.

  • Patent number: 4117599
Abstract: The apparatus for drafting in accurate conic perspective essentially provs for the top edge of a drawing board a movable cursor integral by means of an arm with a pivot and carrying at the other end a scale G3. Another scale G1 is slidably mounted on a guide member pivoting about a pivot. The apparatus further comprises another scale G2 whose zero maker coincides with the pivot. The apparatus serves the purpose of determining automatically on scale G3, by means of readings and bearings taken on the various scales, the position of the point representing in perspective a point of the dimensioned plan view situated in the lefthand portion of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4116491
Abstract: A pneumatic tubular conveyor pipeline is provided for conveying solid products for example in granular or chunk form. The conveyor pipeline comprises an outer impervious pipe and an inner porous pipe arranged so as to form an annulus therebetween. The annulus is divided into chambers having unidirectional pressure responsive vents. An air pressure source is connected to the first chamber. A feed apparatus is connected to the feed end of the inner pipe for injecting the product into and propelling same through the inner pipe. The chambers' vents consecutively open as the underlying portions of the inner pipe become filed with the product.

  • Patent number: 4095825
Abstract: A taper pipe joint formed by telescoping a pin inside a bell, wherein the bell has an outer cylindrical section and an inner conical section tapering inwardly, and the pin also has a conical section tapering inwardly. The taper angle of the pin's conical section is greater than the taper angle of the bell's conical section. An adhesive is disposed in the cavity between the inner conical surface of the bell and the outer conical surface of the pin to establish a sealed joint therebetween and to form a solid ring at the mouth of the joint.

  • Patent number: 4093845
Abstract: The controller automatically and remotely controls the stopping and running of an internal combustion engine coupled to a DC generator that supplies DC power to the welding cables of an arc welding machine. The engine has a starter, an ignition, and an intake manifold. A vacuum-actuated switching means is coupled to the intake manifold and is responsive to the vacuum produced therein. A switching circuit is coupled to and is controlled by the vacuum-actuated switching means. A starter and an ignition are coupled to the switching circuit. A timer having a predetermined timing interval is coupled to the switching circuit, to the welding circuit, and to the ignition.

  • Patent number: 4091890
Abstract: The high-torque ratchet wrench comprises two parallel side plates. Each plate has at one end thereof a bore. An annular ratchet wheel and a cooperating pawl are operatively disposed between the plates. The ratchet wheel defines a socket and carries a plurality of angularly-spaced teeth. A hub laterally extends from each side of the wheel. The hubs are rotatably mounted in the bores of the plates. The pawl has a head end portion which is pivotable about a pivot axis. A pivot pin including the pivot axis transversely extends between the plates for pivotally mounting the pawl between the plates. A pawl arm extends radially from the pivot pin relative to the wheel. The free end of the pawl is formed with a laterally extending segment relative to the wheel. The pawl segment has teeth on its side edge adapted to mesh with the ratchet wheel teeth.

  • Patent number: 4078632
Abstract: The gas detonator is especially adapted for shallow, seismographic, land prospecting. It comprises a circular bottom plate having an inwardly-directed sloping side wall. An annular top plate is mounted over the bottom plate. Means, including a plurality of springs, interconnect and resiliently maintain the plates in touching relation with each other. A housing is mounted over the top plate and forms therewith a detonation chamber. The bore of the top plate serves as the vent port for the detonation chamber. The vent port is normally closed by the bottom plate. Following the detonation of a combustible gas mixture in the chamber, the plates momentarily separate and form therebetween a cylindrical cavity which opens the vent port. A container upwardly extends from and forms with the bottom plate a reservoir which, in use, is filled with water. The spent gases of combustion escape into this water, thereby muffling the sound of the detonator.

  • Patent number: 4064968
Abstract: The invention involves working on a pipeline which is subject to movements relative to a base such as ground, the deck of a floating barge, and the like. A rollable scaffold is frictionally coupled to the pipeline so that workers carried by the scaffold can move relative to the base and, therefore, become stationary relative to the pipeline. The scaffold carries a lift means for raising and lowering a pipe support positionable under the pipeline. The scaffold therefore allows the workers to work on the pipeline without being disturbed by the relative movements between the pipeline and the base.

  • Patent number: 4052781
Abstract: The tool attachment for converting rotating into reciprocating motion comprises a hollow traveling body having a radial bore and an axial bore therein. A bearing housing is removably mounted in the radial bore. A ram is movably mounted in the bore's axial bore. The ram has on its outer periphery a single closed groove having a pitch depending on the desired reciprocating stroke of the ram. A roller is rotatably mounted in the bearing housing and has a portion thereof disposed in the groove. Restraining means couple the ram to the machine whereby the ram is restrained against rotation and unrestrained against longitudinal motion upon the rotation of the traveling body by a rotatable member of a machine fixedly coupled to the body.

  • Patent number: 4051793
Abstract: In an embroidery machine, especially an area embroidery machine, the embroidering heads of embroidering stations, which are arranged one above the other, are adjustably mounted on basic guides which extend over the entire height of the embroidering field, in such a manner that the embroidering tools on the needle side and on the shuttle side of each embroidering station are movable synchronously to each other relative to the embroidery field, individually, in groups, or in their entirety. The basic guides on the needle side and on the shuttle side are movable relative to the embroidery field. The embroidering tools are mounted on the basic guides by interconnecting adjustment bars; the relative position of the adjustment bars in view of the basic guides is adjustable on the needle side and on the shuttle side.

  • Patent number: 4045107
Abstract: The electric multi-contact connector comprises a pair of plugs, each carrying a plurality of elongated contact members mounted in spaced-apart relationship on an insulating base. Each contact has an unbiased prong-end for mating with an opposite unbiased prong end, and an opposite terminal-end for connection to an electric conductor. The prong-ends of the contacts of both plugs are preferably substantially identical in shape. The base is preferably made at least in part of a resilient material, or the contacts are otherwise resiliently mounted on the base. When the plugs are moved into mating engagement, each pair of mating prong-ends forms an abutting pressure contact establishing a mechanical and electrical connection between the two conductors connected to the terminal-ends of the engaged pair of contacts.
