    Abstract: A weighty object mounting system includes a mounting table provided in a mounting station established in an assembly line for supporting a weighty object placed thereon to be mounted on a transportable object transported into the mounting station, a lifting device for lifting the mounting table to move the weighty object thereon into a mounting position provided on the transportable object, a position adjusting device for shifting the position of the mounting table so as to compensate for misalignments arising between the transportable object and the weighty object, a mounting table releasing device operative to cause the position adjusting device to make the mounting table movable in a plane along the direction of transportation of the transportable object in the mounting station, and a positioning device attached to the mounting table and having a tapered portion provided for engaging with a receiving portion provided on the transportable object when the mounting table ascends.

    Abstract: An intake system for an internal combustion engine has an intake passage comprising a common passage portion opening to the atmosphere, a surge tank connected to the downstream end of the common passage portion and a plurality of discrete passage portions branching from the surge tank and respectively connected to the cylinders. At least one interconnecting passage is provided to communicate each of the discrete passage portions with at least one of the other discrete passage portions at a portion downstream of the surge tank, and an on-off valve is disposed at each junction of the interconnecting passage with the discrete passage portions to open and close each junction. The on-off valve is opened when the engine speed exceeds a predetermined speed. The effective cross-sectional area of the each discrete passage portion is smaller in the portion upstream of the junction of the discrete passage portion with the interconnecting passage when in the portion downstream of the same.

    Abstract: A method of making a magneto-optical recording medium comprises the steps of moving a rotating substrate along a first dielectric target, at least one rare earth metal target, and a second dielectric target which are disposed in this order from an upstream side toward the downstream side in an in-line sputtering apparatus, and carrying out simultaneous sputtering on the substrate in the course of the movement of the substrate by use of the first dielectric target and the rare earth metal target. Thereafter, sputtering is carried out on the substrate by use of the rare earth metal target.
