Abstract: A method of fabricating a composite tubular member includes providing a mandrel having a central longitudinal axis and wrapping a plurality of composite fiber layers around said mandrel wherein the longitudinal axis thereof is oriented at a first angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of said mandrel. The composite tubular member produced does not have any longitudinal seams and is thus considerably stronger and more durable than prior art composite tubes.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments that related to a surgical retractor. In certain embodiments, the retractor may include a blade holder with a single blade tilting mechanism capable of adjusting the angle of a plurality of pivoting blades relative to the blade holder. In certain embodiments, the adjustment occurs from the proximal face or top of the retractor. In other embodiments, blade supports are used to couple the blade holder to a variety of removable blades of different lengths. In certain embodiments, the blades may be a translucent material capable of transmitting light from a proximal portion of the blade to a distal portion. In some embodiments, the distance between the blade holder and the removable blades may be adjusted.

Abstract: A front access frame sealing mechanism for filter cassettes comprising at least one pair of posts extending inwardly from opposing sidewalls of a filter cassette housing wherein the posts have a head with a diameter exceeding that of the shaft of the post. At least one camming retainer is mounted adjacent each opposing sidewall about a post wherein each of camming retainer has a cam with a centrally oriented aperture with a diameter greater than the diameter of the post head for mounting about the posts. The cams have a flat portion and a extending handle portion, the flat portion becomes adjacent a sealing channel when in a sealing position. A sealing channel is adjacent each sidewall of the housing with a linear side adjacent front edges of at least one upstream filter cassette and having a channel holding each of the cams.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided with a tablet insert chute proximal to a bowl top inner periphery. The bowl top is provided with a series of notches in communication with the inner periphery. A rotatable press turntable is also provided. The press turn table is provided with a plurality of upper punches, and a plurality of lower punches. Multiple core retention elements are provided to transfer core tablets from the bowl top to the press turntable. A method for using the apparatus is also provided.
Abstract: A method for providing a protective coating and enhanced optical qualities to a gemstone. The method includes coating a first portion and a second portion of a gemstone with TiO2 doped with calcium oxide (TiO2+). The TiO2+ coated gemstone is next coated with a diamond like carbon (DLC) coating. The gemstone may be synthetic or natural. The composite gemstone, having been coated with both TiO2 and DLC, exhibits high refractivity and enhanced wear resistance and color.
Abstract: In the description and drawings a final fiberglass product is disclosed. The final fiberglass product may have a fiber curl layer, a fiber skin layer, and a fiber loft layer between the fiber curl layer and the fiber skin layer. The fiber curl layer may be on an unfiltered air entry side of the final fiberglass product and have a plurality of generally sinusoidal fiber bundles therein.
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for dynamic stabilization which provides for distraction of the inter-vertebral space while still allowing a patient a substantial range of motion. In one embodiment, an inter-vertebral dynamic brace is used to maintain proper distraction. The dynamic brace is designed to allow the vertebrae to which it is attached to move through their natural arc, maintaining the correct instantaneous center of rotation. An adjustable tensioning device is used to maintain the proper distraction and compression forces to restore and maintain proper kinematics, while allowing the dynamic brace to move through an arc centered with respect to the center of rotation of the portion of the spine between the vertebrae. In one embodiment, a method is provided for adjusting the dynamic brace both with respect to the center of rotation of the vertebrae in both the flexion/extension axis and in the superior/inferior axis.

Abstract: Provided is a system for dynamically stabilizing a spine. In one example, the system includes a first bone anchor coupled to a first polyaxial head and a second bone anchor coupled to a second polyaxial head. An axis passing through a center of each polyaxial head is aligned with a center of rotation. A first member has a first end movably coupled to the first polyaxial head and a second end. A second member has a third end coupled to the second polyaxial head and a fourth end moveably coupled to the second end. The first and second members are configured to maintain the alignment of the axes with the center of rotation during three dimensional movement of the first member relative to the second member.

Abstract: An orthopedic brace is provided that provides for immobilization of an injured or postoperative extremity in an abduction position and also allows the user to control internal and external rotation of the extremity. A brace is provided with two opposing members, one opposing member having a torso resting surface and the other opposing member having a forearm support surface, and an adjustment mechanism that allows a user to expand or contract the orthopedic brace to provide for internal and/or external rotation of a humeral head of the user through the forearm of the user.
Abstract: A flake mixture for spraying onto a surface to be coated, the flake mixture comprising a volatile liquid medium and a flake pigment dispersed within said liquid medium, the weight percentage of flake being between 0.002% and 0.15%. A method is also provided the method comprising the steps of: providing an object having a surface to be coated; preparing the surface to be coated by applying a gloss basecoat layer; curing said basecoat layer; providing a flake mixture, flake mixture comprising a volatile liquid medium and a flake pigment dispersed within said liquid medium, the weight percentage of flake being between 0.0002% and 0.15% spraying onto said surface the flake mixture; curing the flake mixture; applying over said flake layer a lacquer layer; and curing said lacquer layer.
Abstract: A hardware accessory display clip is provided that enables hardware accessories to be displayed on a number of different products without damage to the hardware accessories or products. An integrally connected exterior leg, interior leg, and bridge portion are provided that enables the hardware accessory display clip to be removably attached to a variety of products. An accessory connector member is integrally formed in the exterior leg of the hardware accessory display clip that can be removably received in a variety of hardware accessories.
Abstract: A method for scheduling and usage of bandwidth wherein data is transmitted to an artificial intelligence model for analysis and assigned a ranking. An event resource allocation model analyzes the ranking and determines how to compress the associated video. The event resource allocation model also determines when to compress the remotely stored video and transmit to a central data center where the video may be reviewed.
Abstract: A work glove particularly useful for gardening, automobile mechanical work and any other type of use which brings the palmar side of the hand in contact with work or the like which may result in stinging, bruising, or blistering of the fingers, thumb and palm of a human hand is provided with protective padding disclosed or positioned for overlying at least the distal halves of the index finger and long finger metacarpals excluding the metacarpalphalangeal joints of the index finger and the long finger. Preferably, the glove also includes protective padding disposed along a thumb stall of the glove at a location adapted to be along an ulnar border as well as the A2 pulleys of the thumb's proximal phalanx between the metacarpalphalangeal joint and the interphalangeal joint.
