  • Patent number: 8238475
Abstract: Various methods and systems for efficiently performing the blind decoding of downlink signals is described. Several forms of arranging possible CCE combinations are examined and investigated. Based on PDCCH size estimation/information, CCE concatenations that are most likely (of limited sets) can be arrived at. Tree-based concatenations are also devised using largest CCE ordering to align smaller CCE sizes to similar boundaries. By such ordering, the search space for all possible CCE ordering and sizes can be reduced to an efficient tree. Set mapping between possible lnposelstartCCElnposelend/REs are also described using a first set to secondary and tertiary sets. Various other ordering and sorting schemes are also detailed that enable a blind decode of a PDCCH channel to be efficiently performed.

  • Patent number: 8179813
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for indicating a base station's amount of ranging traffic to a mobile station (MS) and for selecting a base station (BS) for performing ranging based on the ranging traffic indication are provided. This notification may occur via a ranging loading parameter, such as a ranging loading factor (RLF) indicating the ratio of used ranging slots to available ranging slots, transmitted as a new TLV (Type-Length-Value) within the Uplink Channel Descriptor (UCD) of a (potential) serving BS or in the UCD of a Neighbor Advertisement (MOB_NBR-ADV) message for a neighbor BS. By selecting a BS with a certain level of unused ranging slots, the MS may exponentially decrease the ranging overhead (i.e., the average waiting time for the ranging procedures) when compared to a conventional MS that does not consider a BS's ranging overload when trying to perform ranging with the BS.

  • Patent number: 8144589
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a learning-based determination of semi-persistent scheduling of data-packet flow wireless communication. A packetized data flow served to a wireless terminal is fully scheduled for an initial period of time in order to collect statistics associated with scheduled packet sizes (Ss) and inter-packet times (Ts). Analysis of a cumulative distribution of {S, T} pairs indicate whether a characteristic packet size (S0) and size dispersion (D0) are associated with the cumulative distribution. Inter-time intervals associated with the characteristic size and dispersion complete a transport format. Semi-persistent scheduling is utilized for a packetized flow when a characteristic transport format can be extracted, or learned, from the accumulated statistics. Extracted transport formats can be employed to optimize scheduling efficiency upon handover.

  • Patent number: 8014424
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to generate a set of synchronization channel sequences that optimize time and frequency acquisition. A set of root indices of Zadoff-Chu sequences in a first domain (e.g., time domain) that optimize a performance metric or merit factor are identified. An optimal index is determined that also optimizes a performance metric in a reciprocal domain (e.g., frequency domain). For sequences of length Q2=N, a base sequence generated with an optimal sequence can be utilized to generate at least two disparate optimal sequences through sign-flip, conjugation, and periodic modulation operations. Evaluating a primary synchronization channel having length N of 63, an optimal pair of root indices of (28, 31, 32) and (31, 33, 35) provide a five-fold improvement in frequency offset error over conventional single index set of (25, 29, 34).

  • Patent number: 7986666
Abstract: Described herein are mechanisms and methods that facilitate enabling a first network module to “take over” for a second network module. An access router can be configured to act as a regional mobility agent with respect to a wireless terminal. The wireless terminal can then identify a different access router that is to act as a regional mobility agent, and transmit such request to a mobility agent. The mobility agent can create a tunnel with the access router that is acting as the mobility agent, and such access router can create an add message and transmit such message to other access routers associated with the wireless terminal. The add message informs the access routers that a particular access router is acting as a regional mobility agent and aids in creating tunnels between access routers.

  • Patent number: 7966033
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate serving sector directed transmit power control in a wireless communication environment. Under certain conditions, an access point can have better data with which to determine appropriate power levels than an individual terminal. Accordingly, an access point can transmit power control information to one or more terminals supported by the access point overriding normal power determination procedures. In particular, power control information can be included within an assignment message that designates resources (e.g., frequency, time) assigned to a terminal. Power control information can be based upon SNR, quality of service requirements, interference information, any other relevant information or any combination thereof.
