  • Patent number: 4843727
Abstract: A contour and outline transducer gage assembly for selectively making outline (gap) and contour checks of parts positioned proximate thereto is provided with a slidably movable carrier arm within the gage housing in selective spring biased operative engagement with a linear potentiometer fixedly provided within the gage housing. Selective movement of the carrier arm in relation to the linear potentiometer causes a gaging electrical signal to be generated for read-out on associated data collector means. A movable cover plate is provided externally of the gage housing in fixed actuating engagement with the movable carrier arm. An adjustable contour check pin support assembly is provided on the movable cover plate so as to provide selective horizontal, vertical and angularity adjustment of a part-engaging contour check pin mounted on the contour check pin support assembly.

  • Patent number: 4810548
Abstract: A sandwich-like fixture of expandable foam material as a core between two registering flanking plates of relatively rigid material and means through the plates securing the expandable material and plates in assembled contact relation. One or more of the plates include stabilizing and orienting feet or tab means for securing the fixture in selected position in relation to elements forming a passageway. The fixture is sized in respect to the passageway so as to provide clearance in order to achieve ingress and egress to the passageway. Then, by actuating the expandable foam material by application of heat the expanding foam closes and seals the passageway by filling the clearance between fixture and walls of the passageway with adhesive foamed material at selected points where the fixtures are positioned.

  • Patent number: 4779559
Abstract: A process and apparatus for high pressure impact coating of portions of workpieces such as the threaded openings in fasteners in avoidance of contaminating undesired portions of the workpieces with the coating material. A metered quantity of coating material is charged into a passageway and moved by low pressure air to a chamber ahead of an atomizing nozzle. High pressure air is introduced to the passageway and the coating material is fogged into a chamber defined by the workpiece and tooling. Proliferation and impingement of the cloud on the selected surfaces follows under vented conditions. A constriction in the vent line achieves the necessary delay and sets the system for accomplishing the coating. The machine structure facilitates use of the coating device with a wide range of female threaded fasteners and achieves the process steps while providing for flushing the lines and drying the working structure.

  • Patent number: 4770318
Abstract: An interlocking lid is provided which is adapted for interlocking engagement with an associated container having an upper peripheral rim edge portion defining an opening therein. The circular interlocking lid is provided with annular lid interlock means along the outer peripheral edge of the downwardly depending central portion thereof which are adapted to matingly engage corresponding annular container interlock means provided along the upper inner surface of the container proximate to the upper peripheral rim edge portion thereof when the lid is placed in press-fitted engagement with the container so as to effect closure thereof. Another embodiment of the interlocking lid is provided with a plurality of spaced-apart vent channels along the outer peripheral edge thereof. Upon press-fitted interlocked engagement of the lid with the container, the vent channels of the lid cooperate with the upper peripheral rim edge portion of the container to form vent openings for the closed container.

  • Patent number: 4688394
Abstract: An automotive heater and air conditioner in the form of a closed circuit reversible heat pump in which one internal heat exchanger accommodates both heating and cooling, selectively, and only a single set of ducts is required. Supplemental energy is provided in the system by using external heat exchanger means in close exchange proximity to and served by the waste heat of the automotive engine. The single exchanger selectively functions as evaporator and condenser. A reversible expansion valve functions between the external and inboard exchangers permitting selected conversion of the exchangers from a condenser to an evaporator function. Valving around the compressor permits selected directional control over refrigerant flow. The compressor can be selectively disconnected to turn off the heat pump. Air controllably ducted through, over and around the inboard exchanger is circulated into the passenger compartment to cool the occupants, to warm the occupants, and to defrost the windshield.
