  • Patent number: 7516905
Abstract: A power control system for automatically and proportionately metering power to a heating device used to create a warm microenvironment conducive to the health and growth of an animal during a predetermined incubation period is herein disclosed. The power control system transmits proportionally more power to a heating device where an ambient room temperature measured outside of the microenvironment is nearer a predetermined lower limit, and proportionately less power when the ambient room temperature measured outside of the microenvironment is nearer a predetermined upper limit. A method of providing a heated microenvironment within a larger environment also is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7497493
Abstract: A carrying rack for transporting sporting or work equipment over a pickup truck bed while utilizing relatively lighter weight materials is disclosed. The carrying rack utilizes the space above the pickup truck bed so the pickup truck bed may be enclosed with a tonneau. The carrying rack incorporates tracks which are easily installed and removed without requiring drilling or other modifications to the pickup truck bed. The carrying rack tracks allow for uprights and cross members to be attached when in use. The carrying rack is mounted to the pickup truck bed so the tonneau cover may be rolled up without removing the cross members or uprights. The location of the cross bars and uprights on the carrying rack can be adjusted along the length of the carrying rack tracks, thus allowing for attaching equipment such as bicycle carrier, ski carrier, cargo basket, ladder, or other types of equipment. In some embodiments, the lateral position of the tracks can be varied as well.

  • Patent number: 7487723
Abstract: A two-ended ink stamper has at least one handle with at least two ends. A first frame and a second frame are provided, and each frame is disposed adjacent to a different one of the ends of the handle. Each frame extends in a different direction from the handle. At least two platens are respectively operatively attached to, and disposed within, one of the frames for selective movement within the frame between a non-marking position and a marking position. Each platen is secured to the handle and extends outward from a different end of the handle. Thus, moving the handle moves the platens relative to the frames and between non-marking and marking positions.

  • Patent number: 7486248
Abstract: Recovery of hydrocarbons, such as petroleum products, from a liquid or solid substrate is facilitated by the use of microwave energy to energize and separate molecular bonds between the hydrocarbons and the substrate. A radio frequency (RF) applicator delivers microwave energy to a treatment volume containing an emulsion of a hydrocarbon and a substrate. Delivering the microwave energy to the emulsion facilitates separation of the hydrocarbon and substrate molecules into layers. Hydrocarbons and other products can then be recovered from their respective layers. The treatment volume may be located either above or below ground. The RF applicator may include an antenna body with slots formed substantially parallel to one another in a substantially horizontal orientation. The RF applicator efficiently delivers microwave energy into the treatment volume. Substantially all of the power supplied to the RF applicator is radiated, with very little power reflected internally within the RF applicator.

  • Patent number: 7472941
Abstract: A tonneau cover apparatus for attaching a flexible cover about a cargo box of a vehicle, preferably a pickup truck. The apparatus preferably includes, a support frame, including two side rails removably attached about the perimeter of a cargo box of the vehicle, an elongated flexible cover securing plate attached to an end of the flexible cover and a securing plate engagement member attached to the support frame, preferably one on each of the two side rails on each side of the support frame. The present invention simplifies securing and unsecuring of the securing plate to the support frame. The securing plate is preferably attached to an end of the flexible cover and is configured to cooperatively engage and pivot with respect to the securing plate engagement member and into and out of a closed or fixed stretching position wherein the flexible cover can be correspondingly be tensed and relaxed.

  • Patent number: 7472499
Abstract: A snow plow for attachment to a vehicle, the snow plow including a mounting apparatus having a mounting frame, the mounting frame including at least one mounting upright. The snow plow further including a plow blade. The plow blade has a mold board including a main surface, a rubber scraper proximate the main surface and a retention apparatus constructed and arranged to disengaeably secure the plow blade with the mounting upright; wherein the retention apparatus allows the plow blade to pivot with respect to the mounting upright such that the rubber scraper can pivot away from the mounting upright when the plow blade is in a working orientation and the vehicle moves in a direction rearward from the plow blade.

  • Patent number: 7464226
Abstract: A microprocessor-based system generates an electronic document based on a set of microprocessor-readable instructions organized in logical units known as instruction nodes. Each instruction node includes at least one microprocessor-readable instruction. If an instruction node is eligible for caching, it is associated with a cache key value, which is compared with a cache key value that is stored in a cache memory and that is associated with a data item. If the cache key value associated with the instruction node matches the cache key value stored in the cache memory, the microprocessor-based system retrieves the data item with the cache key value stored in the cache memory, rather than executing the instruction node. The microprocessor-based system generates at least a portion of the electronic document as a function of the retrieved data item.

  • Patent number: 7381273
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for coating elongated medical devices, such as guidewires and catheters, incorporating infrared (IR) heating tools for curing the coating while the medical devices are still in place on the coating apparatus. Coating and curing may be accomplished evenly in a dipping machine by utilizing IR heaters having heating heads with openings, the heating heads being mounted for the extension of such elongated medical devices through their openings so that the heating heads are in generally surrounding juxtaposition to the elongated medical devices. The voltage supply to the IR heaters may be selectively adjusted so as to match the wavelength of the generated IR heat to the energy absorbing capability of the particular coating solution being utilized for proper timed absorption of the infrared energy.
