  • Patent number: 4544442
Abstract: A process for making substrates for interconnecting components in which a filament is applied and affixed to a base in a pre-programmed pattern, the base surface and applied filaments are coated with a coating and the coating is hardened to form a substantially flat surface over the base and filaments. The coated base is then positioned on a table movable along "x" and "y" axes and the coated base is positioned under a high energy beam at pre-programmed points on the applied filament pattern and access openings are formed in the coating on the base at such points to expose the filament at each such point so that the exposed filament can be interfaced with the exposed surface of the coated base and articles for mounting and interconnecting components formed thereby.

  • Patent number: 4544450
Abstract: An electrochemical process is disclosed for the synthesis of organic compounds, said process having the unique characteristic that the element evolved at the anode is exploited by having it reacting with the product of electrolysis obtained at the cathode by the presence of an appropriate catalyst. The catalyst may be associated in the most convenient manner to the anode, or it can be the anode itself. The process opens the way to a number of synthesis reaction which may be carried out electrolytically instead of the conventional ways.

  • Patent number: 4541575
Abstract: A method of winding brushless motors is disclosed. According to the method one turn of the winding is applied to each phase of a multi-phase motor, then, a second turn is applied to each of the phases, etc., until the required number of turns are wound. The method results in a layered winding having a minimum of end turned build-up and excellent inductance balance between phases of the winding. Because the winding for each phase is continuous, a high reliability winding is produced.

  • Patent number: 4539939
Abstract: The invention includes the steps of, and suitable apparatus for, maintaining a plurality of relatively dense bead-like particles of inert solid material dispersed throughout the fluidized combustion bed, for circulation through heat exchange means separated from the combustion bed and return to the fluidized bed along with other bed constituents. Fine limestone particles may also be introduced into the combustion bed along with fresh fuel particles. The circulating bed constituents are discharged from an arched heat exchange outlet to direct the returning bed constituents in a generally horizontal direction directly over the combustion bed for generating increased circulation in the bed. In addition, the inlet for introduction of fresh fuel and fine limestone is located just below the arched discharge channel to enhance horizontal discharge velocity.

  • Patent number: 4540774
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for carrying out continuous demonomerization and postpolymerization of Polyamide 6 melts and a reactor for carrying out this process. The reactor of this invention has a cylinder with a horizontal axis around which an interior rotor shaped like a cage rotates. The reactor can be partially filled with polymer melt. There is a multitude of elements along the periphery of the rotor which partly dip into the melt and serve to convey the melt through the reactor, generate new surfaces and mix and homogenize the melt as the polymer melt undergoes demonomerization and postpolymerization under vacuum.

  • Patent number: 4536621
Abstract: In a multiple talk path key telephone of the type of having multiple handsets, each handset is coupled to the key field for a predetermined short period of time when it is initially taken "off hook". During this predetermined time period a user can depress a key and connect with a desired telephone line. If the user has the handset "off hook" and desires to connect to another telephone line, he merely depresses an access key and the handset is again reconnected to the key field for the predetermined time period. The present invention eliminates the possibility of one user disconnecting another user's telephone line during a telephone conversation.
