  • Patent number: 7496081
Abstract: Multiple nodes communicate using repeating patterns of superframes, where each of the superframes includes a beacon period. A beacon slot in a first Media Access Slot (MAS) is reserved by the plurality of nodes. This reserved slot occurs in the beginning of the beacon period and is used for communicating information relating to the superframe configuration. This information may involve adjustments to the number of MASs reserved for beaconing.

  • Patent number: 7496919
Abstract: A method is disclosed to assign Priority to Processes based on Roles. The method calculates the process priority of the process using a scheduler running in the computer system, based on either a first weight of a first role, a second weight of a second role, or a calculated weight if both the first and second roles can unlock access to the process. The method then assigns a share of the computer system's time to the process, the share of time being based on the process priority calculated for the process.

  • Patent number: 7492777
Abstract: A system and method of performing device detection and service discovery in a mobile ad hoc communications network, each network node storing a local application directory. One of the network nodes is selected to be a directory server node that stores a combined application directory. The directory server node sends an inquiry message to a listening node when the listening node enters the coverage area of the directory server node. The listening node sends a notification message to the directory server node that includes the local application directory stored in the listening node. The directory server node compares the received local application directory to the combined application directory and updates the combined application directory accordingly. The directory server node sends an update message to each network node by sending an update portion of the combined application directory. Each network node updates the local application directories accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7490141
Abstract: An Ajax proxy indirection technique enables a local, front-end proxy server to handle Ajax requests from an Ajax client that must be serviced by an external Ajax server in an external domain, instead of a local Ajax back-end server exposing itself to the external domain. The front-end proxy server accepts the Ajax client's request and forwards it to the local Ajax back-end server. The proxy server asks the local AJAX server for the credentials to be used in the “external” AJAX request. The local Ajax back-end server then responds to the proxy server with meta-data for the external domain request that the proxy will make to the external domain. The proxy server uses the credentials of the “external” AJAX request to make the external request to the external Ajax server in the external domain. The proxy server performs any authentication and necessary domain mapping with the external Ajax server before sending a response from the external Ajax server back to the client.

  • Patent number: 7489333
Abstract: A fundus camera for performing fluorescent image pickup is provided. A timer is started when a fluorescent agent is infused into a body, and a mode of an amplifying ratio control part is set to AGC. AGC is then checked, and fluorescent illuminance curves of respective eyes to be examined are calculated, if the AGC is operating. A fluorescent illuminance value at a fundus is calculated from a gain value on the AGC and a corresponding time which are stored in an amplifying ratio memory, thereby determining a proper exposure value. When the AGC is not operating, the fluorescent illuminance value is calculated from the calculated illuminance curves of the respective eyes to be examined and an output of a timer, thereby determining a proper exposure value. When an image pickup switch is depressed while observing an image, input from the image pickup switch is detected.

  • Patent number: 7489669
Abstract: In an ad hoc mode based on IEEE802.11 standard, when a wireless terminal performs a power save operation to create a network, and a network identifier identical to that of the network to be created is present, the wireless terminal does not join the network. When the wireless terminal is to join the network, and the network identifier identical to that of the network which the wireless terminal is to join is not present, the wireless terminal does not join any network. In this method, reliable connectivity can be obtained in the ad hoc mode which is not defined in the IEEE802.11 standard in detail.

  • Patent number: 7486491
Abstract: A ground detector includes a pair of lines, a first series circuit, a reference portion, a second series circuit, and a detection point. The first series circuit connects the lines to each other. The first series circuit includes first capacitors that are connected in series. The reference portion is connected to a portion of the first series circuit between two of the first capacitors for DC insulating the lines from the reference portion. The second series circuit connects the lines to each other. The second series circuit includes second capacitors that are connected in series. The detecting point is provided in the second series circuit. Each of the lines is connected to the detecting point through at least corresponding one of the second capacitors. The ground detector detects a change of impedance between the lines and the reference portion based on a change of potential of the detecting point with respect to potential of the reference portion.

  • Patent number: 7487363
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for allowing content providers to protect against widespread copying of their content, while enabling them to give their customers more freedom in the way they use the content. In accordance with one embodiment, content providers identify their content as protected by watermarking the content. Consumers use compliant devices to access protected content. All of a user's compliant devices, or all of a family's devices, can be organized into an authorized domain. This authorized domain is used by content providers to create a logical boundary in which they can allow users increased freedom to use their content.

  • Patent number: 7486932
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for reducing interference in simultaneous wireless LAN (WLAN) and wireless personal area network (PAN) signal handling in mobile wireless terminals having both a WLAN and a PAN interface. The wireless terminal includes a first transceiver operating in the PAN network in a communications band and a first communications protocol transmitting first data units. The wireless terminal also includes a second transceiver operating in the WLAN network in substantially the same communications band and a second communications protocol transmitting second data units. The wireless terminal further includes a controller coupled to the first and second transceivers, assigning a higher transmission priority to the second data units than to the first data units when transmission of the second data units overlaps a first occurring transmission of the first data units, to abort transmission of the first occurring data unit.
