Abstract: A sharpness enhancing apparatus include: an edge analyzing unit configured to receive image data separated into brightness signals and color signals, and analyze an edge state by using brightness signals and color signals of cells contained in a specific area; and a sharpness correcting unit configured to calculate a sharpness correction amount by performing a mask operation on a sharpen mask, which is set according to the edge state, and the brightness signals of the cells, sum the calculated sharpness correction amount and the brightness signals of the cells, and correct sharpness of the brightness signals of the cells.
Abstract: A circuit for performing clock recovery according to a received digital signal (30). The circuit includes at least an edge sampler (105) and a data sampler (145) for sampling the digital signal, and a clock signal supply circuit. The clock signal supply circuit provides edge clock (25) and data clock (20) signals offset in phase from one another to the respective clock inputs of the edge sampler (105) and the data sampler (145). The clock signal supply circuit is operable to selectively vary a phase offset between the edge and data clock signals.

Abstract: Methods for depositing an amorphous vanadium oxide (VOx) film include vaporizing vanadium from a vanadium source while the a gas containing an oxygen species and a process modifying additive are in the chamber so as to deposit an amorphous VOx film on the substrate, where x>0. The process modifying additive includes a gas flowing into the chamber or vaporized material from a target source. The additive may stabilize the deposition rate of VOx, reduce resistivity, improve thickness control, and improve uniformity of thickness and resistivity. The thin film may be a nitrogen-enhanced, amorphous vanadium oxide (VOxNy) film formed on a substrate, where x>y>0, and the film contains at least 0.2 atomic % nitrogen. The film may be used in a device, such as a thermal or infrared sensor, or more particularly a bolometer.

Abstract: Provided are methods, compositions, and kits for molecular cloning of DNA using DNA topoisomerase. The methods comprise (I) combining into a mixture (A) a first polynucleotide, comprising an origin of replication, a selectable marker, two topoisomerase recognition sequences, and two nicking agent recognition sequences, each of the topoisomerase recognition sequences being within 50 nucleotides of at least one of the nicking agent recognition sequences and each of two nicking agent recognition sequences being nicked, with (B) a sequence-specific topoisomerase and (C) a second polynucleotide, having a 5? hydroxyl on each end; and (II) transforming the mixture into a host organism, thereby cloning the second polynucleotide. Formation or purification of a DNA-protein adduct prior to the addition of the second polynucleotide is not required. Also provided are vector sequences to facilitate performance of the methods and methods for modifying a vector of interest to render it useful in the disclosed methods.

The liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates facing each other, a plurality of first spacers, a plurality of second spacers, and a liquid crystal layer filled between the first and second substrates. The first spacers are formed between the first and second substrates at portions of a black matrix layer of the second substrate. The first spacers include a plurality of first balls with a first diameter and a first solid to aggregate the first balls. The second spacers are formed at portions of the black matrix layer between the first and second substrates. The second spacers include a plurality of second balls with a second diameter 0.2 to 0.6 ?m smaller than the first diameter and a second solid to aggregate the second balls.

Abstract: The invention described the highly conducting amorphous polymer materials which are based on the pure block-type copolymers, which contain polyethylene oxide and other chemically complementary blocks and form the amorphous hydrogen-bonded intramolecular polycomplexes, and those, filled by ion conductive materials, low-molecular-weight organic plasticizer and nanometer-scale inorganic particles. The block-type copolymers are preferably the linear triblock copolymers with a central block of PEO and two side blocks of chemically complementary polyacrylamide (PAAm) or poly(acrylic acid) (PAAc). Due to existence of long side PAAm chains and their interaction with a central crystallizable block of PEO, TBC bulk structure is amorphous and fully homogeneous. It can be represented as a totality of hydrogen-bonded segments of both polymer components, uniformly distributed in PAAm matrix. Presented polymer materials can be used for solid polymer electrolyte for DSSC solar cells and lithium batteries.
