Abstract: A proximity-based mutually capacitance-sensitive touchpad that is disposed directly beneath a keypad keymat of a mobile telephone, wherein posts associated with each key pass through a mutually capacitance-sensitive sensor electrode grid of the touchpad such that the keypad posts do not interfere with touchpad detection and tracking of a pointing object that moves along the keypad surface, to thereby enable touchpad data entry, cursor control, and scroll bar control on a display of the mobile telephone, wherein the keypad posts actuate mechanical switches underneath the touchpad.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for extracting kerogen oil from oil shale without adverse environmental impacts. A first plasma reactor is employed for creating a syngas from a carbon-based fuel. A turbine uses the syngas to produce electricity after the syngas' sensible heat passes through a heat exchanger to heat recycling gases used to pyrolyze the oil shale. A kiln receives the oil shale and heats the oil shale to a temperature at which hydrocarbons from the oil shale are released and captured. The hydrocarbons are sent to a distillation tower to produce a usable fuel. A second plasma reactor vitrifies the spent shale to produce an environmentally inert byproduct. The second plasma reactor is powered by electricity produced by the syngas turbine. Carbon dioxide generated by the process is captured and stored to prevent its release into the environment.

Abstract: Fifth wheel hitch assemblies and fifth wheel hitch adaptors for dampening differential motion between a fifth wheel trailer and a tow vehicle. An upper assembly is formed as a box with an open bottom, and a lower assembly has front, rear, and side plates that extend into the open bottom of the upper assembly. Slide plates are disposed on the front and sides of the upper assembly facing at the front and side plates of the lower assembly. An additional slide plate is disposed on the rear plate of the lower assembly and faces the rear of the upper assembly. The lower assembly and upper assembly are attached to one another by an airspring and at least two diagonally opposed shock absorbers mounted therebetween. A locking mechanism may be included to prevent overextension between the upper assembly and lower assembly when not in use.
Abstract: A probe for friction stir welding MMCs, ferrous alloys, non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys, as well as non-ferrous alloys, the probe including a shank, a shoulder, and a pin disposed through the shoulder and into the shank, wherein the pin and the shoulder at least include a coating comprised of a superabrasive material, the pin and shoulder being designed to reduce stress risers, disposing a collar around a portion of the shoulder and the shank to thereby prevent movement of the shoulder relative to the shank, and incorporating thermal management by providing a thermal flow barrier between the shoulder and the shank, and between the collar and the tool.

Abstract: This invention reveals a crank roller paper cutting device, which comprises a base, a supporter, a handle part, a master roller, a slave roller, and a group of speed-reducing gears. Via the group of speed-reducing gears, handle part correlates to the master roller and slave roller at one terminal, both of the master roller and slave roller are captured by the open bores therewith on the supporter. While the other ends of master roller and slave roller are suspended in the air, where a removable positioning block is attached. Upon the above said positioning block, there are two open bores or blink holes in correspondence to the master roller and slave roller respectively. Around the master roller and slave roller are many removable regulating cylinders or one regulating cylinder in different thickness. This crank roller paper cutting device is reasonable in design, easy to use and safe in operation for a wide range of applications, particularly valuable for kindergarten enlightenment education.
Abstract: Embodiments of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding containers are disclosed according to the present invention. The EMI shielding containers are especially useful for protecting sources of electronic evidence from EMI contamination prior to data extraction. However, the embodiments of EMI shielding containers of the present invention may be used in any context where a wireless device is to be shielded from transmitting or receiving electromagnetic signals. Embodiments of methods of using EMI shielding containers to extract data from electronic devices are also disclosed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of acrylic polymers and in particular to their modification with the purpose of the formation of compounds of still higher molecular masses. Plastic materials of the type of acrylic universal polymer (PAU), e.g. sold under the tradename “POLYGOR”, can be used as starting material. The acrylic starting material is then modified by appropriate modifier compounds. In this way modified polymers can have molecular weights in the range between 2×105 and 15×107 a.u. and are water-soluble. This allows to use them as flocculation, coagulation, ion-exchange means and as additives to surface active agents for raising their washing and foaming capabilities.
Abstract: The invention provides a mechanical viewing structure or theater for viewing small screens associated with personal electronic devices. The viewing structure is made of four semi-rigid trapezoid shaped walls joined together to form a hollow trapezoidal viewing structure that optionally is collapsible. The viewing structure has a larger opening that is fitted with a magnifying screen and a smaller opening adapted to be placed above the screen of the personal electronic device and magnify that image for the viewer. The invention also includes a projector that may be releasably attached to the viewing structure to allow an image present on the personal electronic device to be projected onto a remote surface, such as a wall or ceiling.
Abstract: A bow sight is comprised of a first sighting structure defining a sighting aperture and a second sighting structure defining a sight point. The first sighting structure is positioned in front of the second sighting structure with the sight point of the second sighting structure being visible within the sighting aperture of the first sighting structure.
Abstract: A turbocharger system for a combustion engine and method of installing a turbocharger system includes a turbocharger having an oil inlet and an oil outlet configured for being coupled to an oiling system. An oil pump is connected to the oil outlet of the turbocharger and is further connected to the oiling system. The turbocharger system also includes mounting hardware for mounting the turbocharger to an exhaust pipe away from the engine at or below the oil level of the oiling system. In one embodiment, the method of installing the turbocharger system includes removing an existing muffler from the vehicle and mounting the turbocharger at or near the location of the existing muffler.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a connector for easily connecting tubular muntin bars. This connector can be slipped into an opening of one muntin bar so that both ends will be anchored in the interior of that muntin bar. Then, by moving in one direction, the lever can be slipped into the interior of another muntin bar, and, by moving in an opposite direction the protrusion can be slipped into the interior of the other muntin bar. With the connector such placed, slight pressure on the muntin bars will lock the lever, so that the connector firmly connects the muntin bars.
