Abstract: A bow sight is comprised of at least two support structures, each support structure supporting a vertically oriented sight pin. Each support structure is adjustably attached to a mounting member that allows individual vertical adjustment of each support structure. The sight pins may be vertically aligned in an overlying manner to visually provide a single sight pin with multiple sight tips or horizontally aligned but vertically spaced to provide individually vertically adjustable sight tips.
Abstract: A sealing mechanism for a fluid pump comprises first and second seal members which are coaxially and radially oriented relative to each other, and are positioned between the rotating and non-rotating elements of the fluid pump to maintain a competent seal which is simple to assembly, maintain and repair or replace, and which also improves pump operation when compared to known sealing mechanisms for fluid pumps.
Abstract: A mine prop is comprised of an elongate tube having a slenderness ratio that would generally allow buckling or kneeling of the elongate tube when exposed to a sufficient axial force. A plurality of elongate support members having a length less than the elongate tube are attached to the tube to prevent buckling or kneeling of the elongate tube along the portion of the tube to which the elongate support members are attached. The portions of the tube that are unsupported by the elongate support members define one or more yieldable zones proximate at least one end of the tube. A compressible filler material is disposed within at least portion of the tube to support yielding in the yieldable zone.
Abstract: A process for the production of wear-resistant, coated surfaces includes the use of at least two electrodes connected to a voltages source which are mounted in, or border, a reaction space through which an electrolyte flows in which the surface to be coated is located. The process is distinguished by the fact that the direction of the flow of the electrolyte is selectively reversed at least once during the coating process to enable better control of the formation of the oxide layer.

Abstract: A device substances, such as medications or lotions, to difficult-to-reach places of the body provides a washable applicator member having a defined thickness comprising a first layer of material and a second layer of material which is formed, at least in part, non-absorbent and preferably water repellent material. The second layer of the applicator member is also structured with an absorbent layer providing a contact surface for applying substances to the body. Elasticized extension members secured to the applicator member and attached handles allow the device to be used without straining the muscles of the arms or shoulders.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making credit card transactions which includes utilizing a facsimile machine for transmitting credit card information and purchase amount to an information processing center. The information processing center receives and converts the received information into an electronic format, and then accesses credit card account information via the Internet. A final disposition of the purchase is then transmitted to the merchant via facsimile which is either approval or disapproval of the transaction.
Abstract: A garment for enclosing an infant or small child is structured to be selectively adjustable in length to accommodate infants of various sizes or increasing growth, and is configured to facilitate use of the garment with car seats or carriers while also being structured to provide cushioning for the child while in the car seat or carrier.
Abstract: A centrifugal pump, particularly of the pitot tube type, is specifically configured and coupled with a switched reluctance motor to provide improved pumping characteristics and economical operating advantages in the pump assembly, including the ability to rapidly decrease pump speed (e.g., from 100% to 10%) in a matter of seconds (i.e., three to six seconds) and, likewise, to rapidly increase (e.g., zero percent to 80% or greater) in a matter seconds (i.e., five to ten seconds), despite the larger mass and inertia characteristics of some centrifugal pumps. The pump assembly of the present invention is also configured to provide a smaller footprint, thereby rendering the pump more suitable to a wider variety of applications than has been previously available to conventional pitot tube pumps. The pump assembly of the present invention is more economical to manufacture and use.
Abstract: The invention relates to a pump with a pump chamber with a rotary-driven pump element mounted, at least one suction and at least one pressure connection opening into the pump chamber and with circulating pumping cells whose volume can be changed, which are connected with the suction or pressure connection depending on the rotary position of the pump element. A hydraulic intermediate capacity is provided that can be stressed with the pumping medium pressure present at the pressure connection by way of its first connection and that, by way of its second connection, can be stressed with the pumping medium pressure present at the pressure connection depending on the rotary position of the pump element or it can be connected with a pumping cell that has no direct connection to the pressure connection.
Abstract: A plumbing part in the form of a water delivery device is comprised of a protective liner through which potable water can flow. The protective liner is in the form of one or more lengths of stainless steel tubing and is encased in a casting of a desired material, such as bronze or brass. Fittings required to attach the water delivery device to sinks, bathtubs or other water sources and to allow for insertion of various aerators and other flow devices are also encased in the casting. The various fittings are pre-assembled to the liner prior to casting to ensure a water-tight seal between the liner and the fittings prior to casting.
Abstract: Proposed is a tool with a tool insert (53) for machining workpieces, comprising a collet (2), designed for manual interchange of tools and for securing in position the tool insert (53) in a tool spindle (89), comprising at least one channel, penetrating essentially in the axial direction of the tool (1), in particular the collet (2), for mediums, in the particular for coolants and/or flushing agents and/or lubricants. The tool is characterized in that a second channel (7, 7′), which is separated from a first channel (5) and which runs essentially in the axial direction, is provided for mediums, in particular for coolants and/or flushing agents and/or lubricants in the collet (2), and that different mediums can be conveyed in the channels (5) and (7; 7′); and that they empty into a mixing device (85).

Abstract: A thermoacoustic refrigerator having a relatively small size which utilizes one or more piezoelectric drivers to generate high frequency sound within a resonator at a frequency of between about 4000 Hz and ultrasonic frequencies. The interaction of the high frequency sound with one or more stacks create a temperature gradient across the stack which is conducted through a pair of heat exchangers located on opposite sides of each stack. The stack is comprised of an open-celled material that allows axial, radial, and azimuthal resonance modes of the resonator within the stack resulting in enhanced cooling power of the thermoacoustic refrigerator.

Abstract: A constant power mechanical transmission with seamless, ripple free, infinitely variable torque multiplying outputs comprises an input shaft and an output shaft. The input shaft is coupled to a pair of oscillating levers whereby rotation of the input shaft causes oscillation of the oscillating levers in opposite directions. The oscillating levers are linked to the output shaft with one-way clutches in order to cause rotation of the shaft upon movement of the oscillating levers. The rotational speed of the output shaft can be infinitely varied by changing the throw of the oscillating levers.
Abstract: A probe for friction stir welding MMCs, ferrous alloys, non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys, as well as non-ferrous alloys, the probe including a shank, a shoulder, and a pin disposed through the shoulder and into the shank, wherein the pin and the shoulder at least include a coating comprised of a superabrasive material, the pin and shoulder being designed to reduce stress risers, disposing a collar around a portion of the shoulder and the shank to thereby prevent movement of the shoulder relative to the shank, and incorporating thermal management by providing a thermal flow barrier between the shoulder and the shank, and between the collar and the tool.

Abstract: A friction stir welding anvil and method of producing a friction stir welding anvil that precludes diffusion or mechanical bonding of the anvil to the work pieces are provided. The alternatives for producing such an anvil comprise coating the anvil with diffusion barriers such as oxides, nitrides, intermetallics, and/or refractory metals; manufacturing an anvil either completely or partially from the same; or placing a coating of such materials in the form of a thin sheet or a powder between the anvil and the work pieces. The anvil disclosed herein exhibits high strength and hardness even at elevated temperatures, such as those greater than 800° C., so as to prevent the anvil from mechanically or diffusion bonding to the work pieces and so as to minimize, or eliminate altogether, anvil deformation.
