    Abstract: Method for making salt brine of a desired concentration wherein tap water and recycle dilute brine is passed from a sump tank located indoors into a mixing tank located outdoors. A dilute brine flow from the mixing tank is passed into the sump tank. The concentration of the brine in the sump tank is monitored with a floatable container filled with desired concentration brine. As soon as the container floats in the brine in the sump tank, the brine in the mixing tank is passed into a brine storage tank located outdoors. The salt brine manufacturing system for implementing the method also is disclosed.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the use of naltrexone and naloxone analogs, which are neutral antagonists at the &mgr; opioid receptor, for the treatment of drug dependency in a drug-dependent individual. Surprisingly, it has been found that administration of a therapeutically effect amount of the naloxone or naltrexone analogs described herein for the treatment of a drug dependency, can result in reduction of undesirable side effects resulting from current treatments using naloxone and naltrexone. For example, the treatment described herein can result in a reduction in the withdrawal symptoms and aversion encountered in the use of naloxone and naltrexone in the treatment of drug dependency. In addition, the naltrexone and naloxone analogs of the invention can be used for the treatment of pain in an individual in need thereof by modulating opoid pain treatment using neutral antagonists, for example, reversing respiratory depression withough causing other adverse effects.

    Abstract: Broadly, disclosed is a novel approach to the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) that exploits the effective cellular immune response that is initially generated in CFS individuals. One aspect is a method for preparing cells for treating patients afflicted with CFS, which includes subjecting cytokine-producing cells derived from lymph nodes excised from patients afflicted with CFS to mitogenic stimulation in serum-free media for their expansion. The resulting therapeutic agent for treating patients afflicted with CFS includes in a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier cytokine-producing having been produced by the step of subjecting cells derived from lymph nodes excised from patients afflicted with CFS to mitogenic stimulation in serum-free media for their expansion. As another aspect of the present invention, disclosed is a method for treating patients afflicted with CFS that includes administering to the patient an effective amount of the therapeutic agent disclosed herein.

    Abstract: The present invention in one aspect is directed to a method for labeling the durable surface of an object for its identification, which object has a durable surface or a durable surface tag affixed to the object. This method includes the use of “pit and fall” (i.e., holes and bumps as are used to record compact discs, CD-ROMs) technology to encode durable surface objects with coded message. The coded message can be information on the owner, a history of the object, or any other information desired. The coded message would not be detectable to the human eye; however, by scanning the pits and falls with a laser, the coded message could be detected and displayed. Such coded message encoding could be used, for example, to label objects for their identification in case of theft, or in case of product counterfeiting or diversion.

A receiver is incorporated with the housing which performs in conjunction with strategically positioned emergency transmitters which are actuated by personnel in the event of a perceived emergency condition. The transmitters transmit an off-state signal which is responded to by the receiver circuit to vent the pneumatic actuation and enablement system as well as to disenable electrical input to pump motors. The transmitters are polled periodically by the receiver circuit to determine their operational status.

    Abstract: A fender assembly and associated air transfer and dirt protection system for an off-the-road sports racing motorcycle. The fender assembly incorporates an upper portion and a lower portion which are mated to define an air transfer duct which extends from a forward region of the upper portion upper surface to an air exit opening at that same upper surface which is located adjacent the air receiving surface of an engine radiator. The fender assembly is configured for co-pivotal movement with the steering fork assembly of the motorcycle such that the duct will supply coolant air into the radiator notwithstanding the pivotal or steering movement of the forward wheel of the vehicle. A venturi restrictive region is formed within the air transfer duct to enhance the velocity of air exiting into the radiator. To control the buildup of mud at the underside of the fender, the upper portion of the fender is configured of a polymeric material, which incorporates an upwardly disposed pigmented layer.

These two packs are combined to form the novel adhesive composition. Another aspect of the invention is a method for joining together two surfaces of wood products by application of an adhesive thereto. The first step in this method is to mist with water the wood product surfaces to be joined. An adhesive composition then is applied to the misted wood product surfaces. Alternatively, the water misting can be replaced with an aqueous emulsion being part of the adhesive composition. Finally, the adhesive composition is cured.
